A study in perseverance, building a working museum piece from a box with some rusted parts, then rebuilding it from a wreck.I salute this senior gentleman.
Hats off to Mr. Marks for giving so much love to this beloved American motorcycle. He not only resurrected it, but brought it back after a wreck as well!! Very few Americans even know what this is or how important it is to our history. Henderson's were once the pride and joy of American motorcyclists before Harley Davidson and WW2, and police forces around the country made great use of them.
What a great restoration. I've never seen one before. Amazing bike for its year!
That was wonderful. Congratulations on a fantastic second rebuild! Sorry to hear about the accident I’m glad you are OK. They have such a distinct sound, don’t they. Best wishes
Sounds fantastic on start up. Well deserved best in show. Chapeau
What a beautiful bike and story!
And imagine, back in the day, 5 main bearings on the crank. The Danish Nimbus from the same period had a 4 cylinder sidevalved engine to, but only 2 main bearings. What a beautifull bike, and what a nice job making it so nice..
Maybe I’ve misunderstood your comment but at 1:06 this bike shows 3 crankshaft main bearings and 1 additional main after the flywheel
@@wschell4023 You are correct! The Model K and DeLuxe Hendersons were fitted with three main bearing cranks. The next model, the 1929 Model KJ, was the first |Henderson with five main bearings
Absolutely beautiful bike and beautifully restored👌👌👌
The Henderson 4cyl just sounds so sweet, & for a 'classic' seems to be just so reliable when on the US Cannonball ... one-day ... maybe!?
Of course it's Best in Show!...
What a gorgeous bike. I would ride that bike all day long. I love the giant horn. Thanks John for another great video.
Imagine having that ride back in 1920. You would most definitely have been Mr. Badass.
Fantastic work well done.
That’s a Beautiful Bike. He did a Outstanding Job on the Restoration. Incredible.👍👍
Magnificent restoration ..
Butterly smooth car with two wheels
What a beautiful machine, art in motion, thanks for sharing.
Fantastic. I was hoping to be able to hear it run. Thanks for that!
what an amazing rebuild!
Fantastic, well done, what a gorgeous bike
Absolutely stunning. What skills and perceveerance.. Be very proud and long may you continue to enjoy each other's company..
Real beauty. Sounds wonderful
Wonderful motorcycle, amazing achievement.
I quite like the front brake lever moving with the throttle 🤔.
All I can "say" is 👏👏👏👌🏼.
Hard to believe how easily it kicked over. Very cool engines on those and the Indian 4's which I believe were modeled after that.
What a beautiful machine! An inspiration! I want to build a bike now. Something really old fashioned.
Lovely. Just lovely.
They run so good I can't believe it
Outstanding workmanship man... I've got to believe that you've ran into milliard..... He probably loved it... As you probably respect all the stuff he's done too....
Lovely machine, well done rebuilding it twice
Wow!! sounds like classic car, very nice
Awesome!
What a lovely thing.
Wonderful.
super LIKE !
I do love these. Jay Leno has one. He has a great video on his.
Brilliant
So originally intended for rear emergency foot brake for hill starts rather than the front brake on the handlebars seems to how it was intended?
I think it would benefit from a silencer/baffle in the exhaust.
Fascinating to notice, the tank emblem at 2:08 says Exelsior, but late in the video, the emblem on the front fender says Excelsior!🤔 Factory specs!😳
The Excelsior Manufacturing Company bought the Henderson Motorcycle Company in late 1917 and continued to make the existing models for a couple of years. The 1920 Henderson Model K shown here was the first new model produced by the new owners
Wow, that is an intelligent, driven man on a mission.
How did that guy die, he was so young? Oh, he was a "purist".
It was joint best in show not best in show a Thruxton Bonneville also shared the award.
Sorry that's not correct though I do recall a Thruxton Bonneville winning a 'Best in Class' Award
@@stevemarks6569 errm no I have it from the owner who is a good friend.
@@silktvPDR1 Well, all I can say is that, at the prize giving, the Henderson was the only machine declared as 'Best in Show'
@@stevemarks6569 weird he sent me a picture and I just checked he said best in show but looking closely zooming into rosette it does have classic written on it... wondering he realised???
@@silktvPDR1 yeah the bonnie was best in class ( very nice and super rare it is too). Henderson best in show
