  • Royal Enfield 1000cc v-twin, build in 1929. For me, the 1928/29 v-twin is the most beautiful bike RE ever made in the long history of the make. This machine was restored over many years. Found in Spain, shipped to Germany the bike is now ready for the streets again. Hope she makes her first miles on german roads in this summer.

I have never seen a Royal Enfield V twin and that motorcycle there is absolutely stunning.
With all the new models lately by R.E., I am surprised we never seen them even attempt to resurrect the V twin.

Thanks, but RE made a concept bike, i think it was 2022, that should remember on the 1930´s v twins espacially the kx 1140.

The nickel plated knob on the left side tank tells me this bike does not have a circulating oiling system, rather it has what’s known as a total oil loss system. What that means is every three to five minutes of running travel (operation under load)the operator of such machine must pull up on this knob and release it to squirt a shot of engine oil into the top end of the engine in order to maintain lubrication. In the bottom end of the engine (crankcase) the turning of the flywheel mechanism slings oil lubricant around on its own and maintains its level of lubricant in a wet sump environment, with a vent fitting to release built up pressure caused by engine heat.
Just some fascinating information about the simplicity of early combustion engine design and technology. 😊

You´re right, this is a hand pump. But the engine also has an automatic oil pump. This pump just drips oil into the crankcase, its a total loss system. the handpump is an additional pump for extra lubrication under heavy conditions like riding up a steep hill.
