Montréal had the same problem with #57 Sean Farrell (C/LW) who want to play in the NHL right away. But instead of playing hard ball. They said O.K. you think your ready ! They signed him right away and give him time on the third line in Montréal . Farrell learn his mistake that he was not ready and the next year he was sent to Laval all year.

Kyle Connor had to play 45 games in the minors. I agree Perfetti has been a bit mismanaged, some of that is due to him being a defensive liability (playing under defensive coaches and being a liability isn’t going to help)

They should really stamp this type of behaviour for the future. They should make an example out of him, so it scares some of these prospects who thinks they are bigger than the club. Dont bite the hand that feeds you.

Heinola broke his ankle last year at the end of training camp. Spent 4 months rehabbing. Not fair to say he was held back last year. What he really wants is $1M paycheque and not an AHL paycheque.

You obviously don't anything about him. McGroarty is the ultimate "team player". He was Team USA's Captain at the World Juniors...they won gold. He also Captained USA at the U18s. He'll be selected as one of the Captains at Michigan this season, too. The Jets have a reputation for having their top prospects rot in the minors (see #10 overall pick Cole Perfetti). McGroarty is aware of this and doesn't want to suffer the same fate. The kid just wants to play. Yet, you're slagging him for having an attitude. Blame the Jets!

Remember how the media handled Dubois?? Better yet, remember how the media handled both Scheif AND BUCKY, ALL of last off season?!? Paid hockey writers and CZcamsrs "confirming" they weren't interested in resigning...
Ya, I'll wait until I believe anything. This rumor in particular has NOT come from anybody official in Rutgers camp. They have said absolutely nothing on this on the record... Which tells me they are still talking, as Jets arent saying anything publicly either...

i wonder how much the ncaa and the new NIL payments have affected this. He may be making more at michigan then he would in the AHL. Technically he can stay at michigan for 4 years and then he might be able to sign with whomever he wants. I can see him not wanting to go to the AHL as staying at Michigan and making more $$. Red wings have had the same issues as guys would rather stay in college then report to the AHL.

there are only 2 ways this can go should Mcgroarty get traded. he doesn't produce the way he said he can and gets sent down again and branded a diva of sorts, OR he excels with the opportunity he is given with his new team, goes on a major point producing storm and proves he was right when he said he was ready now. the ball is in his court but its not a great way to try to make a name for yourself. good luck Rutger. i also really do'nt think montreal will trade for him with his insistance of playing in the big leagues right now. too many names trying for too few spots.

@darrenc8455. Yup played with some good players in a good program. Thats great. But he will never play with the Jets. He figures he is ready to go to NHL and the Jets don't think is ready yet. The players he played with have all signed with very crummy teams so can probably start right away. But they weren't playing for #1 in the west as we were. So we say trade him we don't need or want him with that attitude. We just changed our team culture for the better, don't want to go back to that crap

Jets play fire with the wrong school man. Michigan can pay him NIL money similar his ELC salary. This guy has leverage there. He can stay at school, earn the degree, go to classes, meet girls, and compete for championship. Then sign as free agent. Teams probably will pay him $4M/yr that time. Jets has not much choices there, either trade him or give him the spot just like his college teammates. Jets want to burn their relationship with all the future NCAA kids?

For American players I expect this continue... Canadians and other countries would be happy play wherever most part.
But ofc if your American you want less taxes,politics,weather,money/opportunity over the team/winning.
It's going to make it hard Calgary,Winnipeg,Edmonton if they ever lose McDavid sign players or draft USDP.
Back in day it was opposite players wanted cold top markets as to sunbelt teams. Along time Arizona,SanJose,Florida,Atlanta,Nashville wernt attractive to players.
I just hope jets get a prospect or good player back. It would have been nice get Savoie or Geekie since played here.

I don't Blame him. Winnipeg is the stink hole of Canada. No one wants to play there. The one time they have a player begging to play, The stupid GM's don't want to give him a chance. So he is saying "Play me or Trade me".
They will lose him and this will just scare away more players. At this point they should just expand somewhere else and start over. They are a joke of a franchise. I don't think it is a red flag really for the player. It is however yet another red flag for the Jets though.
