  • This is a first impressions video, so not a full review. Should I buy this car? Do you think it is a worthy upgrade? What do you think about the LG battery vs the Panasonic battery that you get in the US?

    Just upgrade, I had 2017X, 2019 3P, 2023 YP, now 2024 3PH in red/black combo.
The euro one is quicker than the old panasonic 3P by about 0.2 seconds (measured by Teslabjørn).
But haven had the 2019 3P I would say the gain in accelleration isnt why I think this car is superb, it is the refinements in noise cancellation (very silent cabin), it is the improvement of the suspension (not buncy anymore!). The adaptive dampers with drive modes means that its much better than before, its also got upgraded sway bars etc.
For some reason I also find the sentry mode to be much quicker with large SSD (2 Tb NVME drive I have in an USB-C enclosure).
Even on the 2023 YP with Ryzen MCU loading the sentry clips took "ages", now it loads instantly.
I did check this on the Y and the 3PH when I picked it up, so its much quicker.. I dont know if they did something to increase sentry in the hardware (usb speed or something else?).
Cameras of the HW4 are very nice of an upgrade, stereo upgrade is also nice..
I also enjoy the cooled seats, when my gf and son are cold in the rear seat and Im hot in front, I can manally set my seat to cooling. It is my first car with actively cooled seats, but I now see what the fuzz is about. Missing stalks I got used to after some kms.
The new 3P is more RWD bias.. It is bt also a bit quicker at higher speeds than the old euro one, as at high speeds the front motor tapers off.
Forged wheels on the new model are quite light! With removal of the largest aero caps they also look quite nice.

Test drove the 2024 M3P last week and I think you should definitely upgrade from your current M3LR! I would say the refreshed model is more compliant and the overall feel of the car is better! I daily a M3P 2020 (pre face-lift) and I am looking to upgrade my self. The real selling point for me is the ventilated sport seats, these alone are worth upgrading for!

If you dont have a tesla this car is fine to buy, but i think upgrade makes no sense unless you have to much money.
the price loss these days is quite noticable. Also technology is moving fast. Hardware 5 will already be coming next year
also the battery in this car is quite the bottleneck. Im sure you will get also better batteries next year.

I'm in a similar situation at the moment. Like you said, since I bought my Model 3 LR 2021 I always had thoughts about why I didn't got the Performance and now with the new highland I'm considering daily if a switch would be a good idea.
I think I would have to read into the battery data but if the LG battery is really that bad, I don't think I'm going to switch in the near future.
I love my M3 LR so even with the power "increse" and updated interior and exterior I don't think for me pearsonaly the upgrade would be worth.
I got a Performance Model Y when my Model 3 was in service and with the new AMD chip and the increse in space I would most likely get a Model Y Performance instead. Greetings from Germany btw :D

Mate it is literally not possible to import batteries from US. They need them all locally in order the tax credit to be available. Currently even the RWD uses the US made Panasonic battery. Some new/improved battery if any from China is more likely. Kyle (from Out of Spec) made another test on T3P on the Autuban it overheats badly. Anyway I love your review science BMW i3. Another great one, man! Keep. IMHO do not upgrate for this one. Tesla won't make the same mistake with Y Performace battery wise. And as a rule in Tesla lineup "Never buy the first iterations". Most likely they will change the battery as soon as the initial sell wave pass.

I would love a model 3 performance, but I tow a caravan 1500 kg. I have a model Y and really like it. I’m waiting for the upgraded model Y. 🇬🇧

Besides from the small nice differences outside and the seats inside.., what`s the point of having a Performance in Norway/Bergen? It costs 90` NOK more than the LR. IS it worth the higher price? Max speed in the area is 100 km/h from Lagunen shopping center to Os and if you don`t live nearby/that "way" I really don`t see the point..... Disclaimer: I live in Åsane and I`ve just ordered a LR, ultra red with white seats with delivery aug/sept., I can`t wait for that!!

You sound like you are just making excuses not to buy it lol....
All the negative angles you listed are pretty much negligible. That same battery performs here in the Australian climate and performs incredibly well, if not completely superior to any other offering. The Panasonic batt is not that much of a difference, that it will change your life or how this car inherently presents. The build quality, media tech, adaptive suspension tech, chassis ride and handling changes, improved torque curve and power output past 100kph, juicy rear end staggered tyre set up, acoustic glass all round, improved exterior aesthetics and aero, safety, seating, rear screen for passengers, are all like new generation upgrades. Not just a model refresh. It is superior and cheaper than what the previous vehicle was when new. Tesla are doing the opposite here of what the other greedy manufacturers do. They are passing their cost savings onto customers now that they are able to sell in high volumes and bring manufacturing costs down.
If you have the $$ to spend, you are being rewarded with a genuine upgrade. Do iiiiiittt
