This is the new Tesla Model 3 Performance!
Tesla has upgraded the performance version of its smallest car. The question is, how much has it changed over the previous car?
One of the biggest changes isn’t visible from the outside of the car. It’s now fitted with adaptive dampers, so when you go into track mode it allows you to adjust the power distribution - perfect for if you’re looking to pull some skids!
When it comes to the design, it’s all pretty similar to the previous car. Up front, there are some new headlights, as well as a redesigned front bumper and the inclusion of a splitter. Along the side, the looks are pretty much identical, and at the rear, there’s a carbon fibre boot lip spoiler, and there’s also an updated bumper and diffuser.
Step inside, and once again it’s all pretty similar. There’s a big screen on the dash (as always) coupled with some carbon fibre effect material, while there's also a new pair of sports seats. There are also no stalks on the steering wheel - indicators are now controlled by buttons instead! Apart from that, it’s all pretty identical to the previous car.
One key change for this car is the addition of a new, higher-performance motor on the rear axle. As a result, the new Model 3 Performance can now produce 460hp! It’s fitted with the same 75kWh battery pack as before, which is apparently good for a range of up to 328 miles.
So what do you think - is the new Model 3 Performance a worthy replacement to the old edition? Or should Tesla have updated more? Stick with Mat and see for yourself!

One is a suv and the other is a compact car. The 5n complete With myp
the 5n looks so much different then the normal ionic 5, Tesla should take note and add unique features to their performance models (like a different steering wheel, black roofliner, wider arches etc etc)
@@tubejorritbut... they did? The performance has unique bumpers, front splitter, rear diffuser, carbon spoiler, ludicrous badge, sports bucket seats, red brake calipers, performance rims, carbon details on the dash. All unique to only the performance.
@@jacobjensen5759 Not different enough, a BMW M3 is far more different then a normal 3 series. Also Tesla doesn't have bucket seats, just seats with a little bit more bolstering.
@@tubejorrit As of writing this, the cheapest M3 is over $30k more than the standard 330i. The Model 3 performance is around $16k more than the cheapest RWD Model 3 if you don't consider tax credits. As an owner of one of these, it’s fun!
Cool review as always, Mat 🙂 However, white seats are not standard (£1000 extra), and the carbon fiber "effect" is, in fact, genuine carbon fiber
In the USA the white seats are no extra price for 2024 (they were in 2023) and we have a much better battery. Non US buyers are getting shafted I guess.
@@Cruor34 One caveat is most people who will buy this car will also 'want/are eligible for', the rebate. If you want white seats it MUST be combined with the Stealth Gray exterior color to get the rebate. If you want ANY other exterior color AND White seats you will lose the $7500 rebate. I’ve had a U.S. version 2024 Model 3 Performance for a month now and I have to say it’s the best daily driver for the money on the market today! Clips off 0-60 times of 2.91 seconds without roll out and 1/4 mile times well below 11 seconds and handles brilliantly on the streets. People complain about the lack of sound and yeah, flat-6 > EV, but anyone driving a 4 cylinder has no argument there. Build quality is an issue, I wouldn't touch a Tesla without a warranty, but that applies to anything German too.
What people don't know is the batteries are different in the model 3 performance compared to the long range model. The performance has Panasonic batteries which actually charges faster than the long range battery. So your statement about buying a long range over a performance at the end of the video isn't really true as you can still travel long distance with the performance and charge faster in the process making the performance the best model to buy overall
I absolutely love my 2019 Model 3 performance. I'll get one of these after it's been out 3 years, there's no way I'd pay full price for one.
It’s extremely bad value compared to a second hand one unless you don’t care about high monthly payments and not owning the car after 3-5 years.
Lease instead.
Don’t buy an EV. Lease one assuming you meet their credit score requirements
@@Nickbaldeagle02 Can't buy out Tesla leases at the end tho
@@thisistimmy really? What happens to the car?
Excellent car 👍
Love that the white interior is included on the door panels. My MYP 2023 only has a small section of the door white.
mat is so used to fast cars that 3 seconds does nothing for him 😂
"Cancel your M3?" No.
its putting down better lap times then a m3 and m2 comp tho...? bro wants to be scammed
@@stef7396 and its more practical and comfortable than a m3
Its even cheaper than a 320i in my country, yet alone a proper M3
It's like half the price of an M3, not exactly fair to compare the two. I'd expect something double the price to be better.
right....buy a car that costs a bunch more, is slower, costs a fortune to run, and guzzles gas like there's no tomorrow. That's the ticket.
The way prices are going for normal cars the standard model 3 is actually really good value for money £39k roughly
Decent sound system as standard and a golf GTI that has a similar 0-60 is 10k more when specced up to similar standards and doesn’t have autopilot etc on top of
Good value … no one will want to buy a used Tesla. Where is the value?
No vrummm vrummm vrummmmmm pow pow pow? No killer at all!
I think what was chasing you was the ghost of your channel from when you used to review everyday cars that the majority of the public can afford
Actually knew it was the camera since the ghosting started.. ha-ha!!
Crimson Red coating is also new
Ultra red
ABOUT TIME!
Finally it looks decent and worthy of being seen in without having to pimp it up.
Such a great car ❤
Why?
I don't understand the Tesla hate. Is it because ppl refuse to accept change? This car lighter than the new c63, RS6 and RS7 despite being electric and it's quicker than all of them to 60 and every bit as quick if not quicker over the 1/4 mile. And I bet it handles and brakes better because of the weight. People should learn to accept a good car even if it's from a company that may not be to their tastes. Great Job Tesla!
Electric cars in general are garbage…yeah many of them are incredibly fast…but they are sensational, not sustainable. Just the thought of owning an electric vehicle is stressful in and of itself…
Not one person asked for evs
Change ? What change ? Quality is horrible. Lot of cars are better than this overprized crap. And ecology ? Where is ecology ? This is not green car ! Bad job Tesla !
it's less so about the numbers and more about the lack of noise, but more so cause as ppl move into these cars, it does mean the imminent death of ice cars,(just cause of the way the market works)
People dont like change, always been the same and always will be.
0 to 60 in 3 seconds in a 20 mph zone, goodbye driving licence, keeping my diesel thanks lol.
8:51 ”Let’s see how fun this Tesla model S Performance is”
Tip : Only cancel an M3 for an F90 M5 nothing else
I wouldn’t cancel a hybrid Yaris for this milk float never mind an M3
I left F90 M5 in my rear view mirror up to 100 mph.
@@borinvlogs it’s still about as exciting to drive as golf cart. I’ll take the M5 everyday and twice on a track day. Far better driving experience.
I just love how good the software is.
German car manufacturers just suck when it comes to software :/
Yep, the Tesla software is 5 years ahead of others.
Track mode? Let's see an endurance race against any M3 of any generation.😂
Picked up my new performance a couple weeks back, we get a slightly better version in the US with slightly more power and it is by far the best value per dollar vehicle I have ever driven.
A Tesla Model 3 is an M3 killer in the same way a tanning salon beats the sun.
If you live in UK then a tanning salon is MUCH better than the sun if you actually want a tan!
@@user-os1nh7xq1z Sure. In this instance, in the absence of the first best option, lying on a plastic toasting rack would have to do.
A fake tan looks shit. So that kinda sinks your stupid comment little fella.
I like how he doesn’t moan about supercars that have no indicator stalks 🤷🏻♂️
Need to do another all tesla model 3 performance generation battle. 😂
Still a few rough edges, but this is now a car from a rapidly maturing company that is learning how to make a more appealing drivers car. And it is still offering superb software, incredible straightline performance, unmatched interior packaging (passenger space and luggage) plus a quiet ride. It won't suit everyone, but it is now a very compelling offer at 60K.
Originally they have $55.000 price tag.
