- Moto Updates on everything going on in moto this week. Sounds like Broc Tickle will be back racing part time this season, there is a rumor that TLD and Gas Gas are parting ways also Justin Cooper said he is talking to a lot of teams and implied that he won't stay with star if his is still the third guy. Additionally RJ Hampshire is ready to go up to 450s but Husky wants to keep him down at least to defend his title. Macadoo is back and looking as strong as ever. Masterpool looks dangerous and Julian Beaumer showed some signs of fight at the Stopwatch nationals. He looked really strong st the end of the 2nd 30 minute moto.

When i started racing in the 1970's ... age limits were not used...older guys raced every class...and smaller bodied older guys were common in 125 class..both in USA and the World GP's....racing shouldn't be about age...it is a talent sport.... those who win can be old or young....if you want age restrictions..you limit the talent out there..some guys peak later than others....sand bagging is stupid in a Pro level competition.... it is a recent thing to age restrict this sport....and younger riders complain the most if an older guy is just trying to make a living in a sport they love....this is about Jobs for talented racers...the Best get them over others..

People are actually advocating for fast guys to give up their spots to some slower 16year old.

If the 16yr new pro wants to make a main or a national, ge should gave no problem being FASTER than a 28year old who has been in the class for 10+ years. If the 16 year old isn't fast enough, then he needs to work at it and get better. He shouldn't be gifted a spot bc another guy is old.
In SX, the 20 who make the field are the best.
In mx the 40 who make it are the best.
I don't want to see a field of 250 guys that suck. I can watch 'futures' if I want to see a bunch of kids who aren't fast enough to make the show.

It’s such a bummer Glenn Helen isn’t on the Mx schedule. That whole situation needs to be sorted out between all parties.
They really a total redo of that track. No jumps and it’s been the same for years.

I ride in So Ca and it’s a love or hate track. I hate it the worst. Like riding a jack hammer with no fun jumps
Fox Raceway is probably on an Indian reservation so it means they and riders might not be getting taxed as much.

Pro riders racing or practicing with amateurs on the track is crazy. It’d be like a top NBA player risking a season or career ending injury by playing a pick up game in a public park.
It's happened before too. I know that people have been ran into or landed on in the past.

NBA players play pickup games at 24 and with amateur/college players all the time in public gyms and pro-ams during the summer / offseason, but yes I know what you mean, moto is a lot more lose with making sure they practice on track with riders of similar skill level. The kids on minis and adults who can’t jump riding Pala during the week with pros just blows my mind.
@joeschmidt6597 yeah and the chances of someone who isn't good at basketball hurting you isn't great but the chances of some kid on an 85 pulling onto the track on a blind landing and getting clipped is up there.
After last year’s performance, Kawasaki should have put Ty Masterpool first in line for Adam C’s ride.
Ty is a motocross specialist he can’t win an SX or SMX title. You would be paying him basically just for Motocross which has the least amount of money in it of out of the SMX series.

I feel RJ should just go 450 Now! That is the premiere class and the 250's are the up and comers or entry level (Pro's) guys. After 5 years or more in the 250 class I feel it's time to move on and let other young talent fight for wins.

RJ has been VERY open ab not wanting to be on a 250 anymore. Husky just keeps him on one for some reason. But we already saw hes a top 10 guy on a 450 in SX at Daytona in 2022. They need to move him to a 450 before they waste a year with RJ
That's why I don't understand all the hate on him for not moving up. He definitely wants to.

@@motofevermedia1 Rj himself has even admitted in a recent interview that his sponsors and the team get far more exposure and are much happier with him winning in the lites class instead of getting tenth in the 450 class. More of a business deal than a skill issue or a ride not available.
It'd be cool if he just said screw factory and just buys a stock bike....and wins the 450 SX championship, then retires and is never heard from again....then pops up after building his own bike from nature and wins another 450 SX championship with his rock/stick dirtbike...if it happens I called it!!
J coop is probably my favorite rider. I feel like he knows he has the pace to battle with jett, but he's just been playing it safe, building his confidence on the 450. Hes a guy who given a teams full support could get wins and battle for a championship.

I was a little nervous when TLD was gonna have a 24 year old TM. Just alot of responsibility for such a young human. Results weren't anything to write home about in SX.

Kitchen wins outdoors. He won at thunder valley his rookie year which was a few races. Last year he got better each week even though (we know now) he was not very happy, annoyed every weekend with the commotion from Deegan fans yet he still had some solid rides. After how he looked in sx, more comfortable on kawasaki, more comfortable at the rig between motos means happier and more relaxed demeanor. He's gonna shred outdoors.

It's just a thumbnail, I can't explain the whole situation in a title 🙃 But yes he's not officially leaving however he did officially say that he's talking to a lot of teams so it's probable.
Will Ducati debut in MXGP and wait a year before coming to the US? TLD and Ducati would be awesome. Will Beta get decent riders? Who will ride the second Triumph? I think their debut with Swoll in SX, also in MX2, has been beyond all expectations. Who will ride the Ducati when it comes to these shores?
Ducati is debuting in the Italian motocross series this year so it sounds like next year they will be going into mxgp next season and likely ama in 26. I agree tld Ducati would be really cool! I believe Beta is possibly one of the teams talking to J Coop but it's hard to say exactly who they will be able to get moving forward. Next season Triumph will have Savatgy on the 450 but we're not sure if they want to run a 2nd 450 or not. As fsr as 250 they're going to 4 riders with 3 of them being Swoll, Smith and Vohland. The 4th rider isn't really confirmed yet but Stilez Robertson seems like a likely candidate as he is no longer with Star and he has Chemistry with Scuba from the Husky days. It's really hard to say who would be on the ama Ducati team but I'd have to imagine they're going to have to grab some you talent that's moving into the pro class just based off of the way things are shaping up.
@@motofevermedia1 I think if Deegan does well these next two seasons on 250's, Ducati will go hard after him for when they join AMA 450 class. If there bike is competitive or better, Deegs will be up for a new contract at this time also, they probably have already been talking to Brian. Just my opinion.

The Smith-Deegan thing. First off, Smith has god awful tactics. Second off, Smith will not be better on that Triumph bike than he is on the Star bike. No way. Only way I can see him being as good if not slightly better is, if he was able to personalize his training program perfectly for him. If something clicks that helps, he might be better in the end. Deegan is going to dust him outdoors though. If you watch Deegan’s latest 450 moto video, he passed even Cooper. He’s on one.
Yeah I kinda caught myself on the Tomac thing haha. I was just saying that he generally absolutely rips outdoors. I don't expect Smith to have much for Deegan but it only takes a few turns or banging bars to let last emotions flare up and that definitely could happen. All I'm saying is if you see Deegan and Smith going into a turn together, you'd better watch really close haha.

I mean, Smith when on TLD KTM crashed away a title the year Osborne won his first regional title... then Savatgy rode like crap to allow Zacko to get too close to make an agressive move after Zach rode like a maniac to come from dead last after crashing on the first lap to catch and pass him for the title...Savatgy was upfront and went backwards all the way to being mid pack without even crashing, going slow as molasses the last few laps like he was a mid pack futures rider...and some how through all the mayhem and trouble from all the 3 title contenders who had the title at various points in the race, AC won and was only 2 points shy of the title while being in 4th or so in the series coming into the night... no one thought he had a chance, but he almost had it. Smith has had a lot of good finishes and success early in his career before injuries de-railed it, like a lot of guys... he does ride like an idiot and brings a lot of things upon himself, but to deny his speed and ability is delusional..
Deegan is good, will likely win a few 250 titles before moving up, but right now he's no future Tomac or the guy to challenge Jett in a few years...I don't understand why new fans think he's some god on a bike, he's not, youre knowlege of the sport is extremely lacking...that could change and he could end up being a 450 title contender in the future, he's got the potential and work ethic, but I just don't see it happening... his style doesn't fit a 450 either and very few people can ride a 450 fast consistently like that..RV, Eli, RC, and Barcia are the exception and able to do that but it's not a common ability, the 450 gets very unstable and it will bind up the chassis when under high RPMs in a lower gear like the way he revs a 250F everywhere, making set up and finding comfort extremely difficult.. I don't know how Barcia rides as fast as he does without crashing his brains out all the time the way he rides a 450. Jett, hunter, chase, and Kenny have the best style and technique to ride a 450 correctly... a gear high, lower rpm, their body positioning and allowing their bike to unload/settle to work underneath them, rather than man handling and loading the suspension everywhere and bull dogging their way through everything.. he rides very loose, too loose at times and I feel like injuries will start stacking and compounding if he doesn't fix those traits.

Smith must have a great agent or rich parents in the industry. Sure he’s fast but he is not consistent. This season was the first season he came out healthy in the last decade. He’s a bit of a douche too

RJ would have already won a couple 250 titles if not for having to go up against Jett the last two years. You can't fault him for losing two titles to the fastest rider on the planet.

He's been working for them as a test rider and trainer the last few years, Cianciarulo retired, so it kind of makes sense to have him use AC's bike & ride a few nationals, unless they come up with a replacement rider.

They just brought him up from the testing squad. He's been with the team this whole time but I do agree with your analysis. I think there is a lot of younger riders that could do great. Masterpool and Noren come to mind.

Husky is going to need a lot of riders soon. Hampshire Craig and Mookie are all getting up there in age. Even Hampsire is 28. Not saying they're done but all they have as far as young talent is Casey Cochran so I'm concerned about who else they will be able to get in the next few years.
