First of all, shoutout to the ride ops at Desert Race. They can send these trains out faaaaaast. Secondly, I´ve heard from somehow who works at Heide that the launch actually goes from 0-102km/h in less than 2 seconds, and it certainly also feels like that.
I have no clue why I never hear anyone ever talk about this. It seriously surprised me how everyone just forgot this exist. It's a powerful old school intamin accelerator very simular to Rita but probably even better, how can it be forgotten? Positive Gs on every turn literally the entire ride.
It looks like a great layout to me. I love Intamin's hydraulic launches, and I can appreciate that this is a different layout to the others that I've experienced.

This ride really surprised me when I rode it! I heard nothing about it and was blown away at how much fun it was, lots of great airtime, positives, and an excellent sense of speed. I do prefer Dragster and Storm Runner, but this one is still an excellent ride

Yeah, overall Heide Park seemingly got a lot of hate from enthusiasts here in Germany, at least when I started getting more into the community, but it still is a pretty nice park with a decent line up.
ive not been on this one but ive been on Rita and that is my favourite launched coaster in the UK so desert race must be fairly decent! this one has also got some good theming

It is a fun ride, but I feel like this layout is just exactly what I would call "bland and uninspiring". Sure, the forces are nice but that is pretty much it. You can really see that Heide Park just wanted the "germanys first launch coaster" record and did the least amount of work. Exactly the same happened a few years later again with krake btw...
Thanks for the review. I can agree with you 100%. Desert Race is unfortunately a bit short, but otherwise offers a great ride. The launch is good, the airtime is good and the corners have good power. Unfortunately, Desert Race is, in the truest sense of the word, somewhat overshadowed by Colossus, which is why it doesn't get the attention it deserves.
i keep annoying my friends about how great this coaster is, but i can't help it, i just love this ride. while i do wish it was longer, i don't really mind the short length too much because every element before the trim is just amazing.

Wow, i didn’t realize this was a near clone of Rita as these two coasters are not even close in my rankings, I’m going to say that’s mostly because I find the setting of Alton towers makes everything better! 😂
I would love to ride an acelorater, since one of these rides are making a comeback at pne play land Maby the now abandoned in storage Saturn from space world can be bought and rebuilt

This sounds odd, but the launch got me closer to a grey out than the turns, despite the turns being powerful. I love this ride
