  • Hi friends, I have another budget pencil review for you today! It's the inexpensive Phoenixcolor soft oil-based colored pencils. These were sent to me for review from Andstal Stationary shop on Aliexpres: www.aliexpress...
I tested these out with water and they do move a bit, not a lot but similar to the movement you would get from any oil-based pencil.
    Pros:
Price (72 colors for $26.87 at the time of writing)
    Nice color selection
    Good color payout
    Sharpens well
    Good pencil build quality
Stadium seating packaging that lets you see all pencils at once with a small footprint.
    Includes a sharpener
    Cons:
Only available on Aliexpress and no open stock availability that I know of.

Yes, I love your reviews. Between you and Harry at the Art Gear Guy, I trust and rely on you two to keep me from wasting money. And may I just say there are a lot of people who review art products but show none of their art to back it up. I'm thinking if you aren't doing art, who are you to review a product? So, yes, yes, yes, please show what and how you achieved your end result.
Personally, I'm way over flowers and landscapes. I want to know how to show reflection in glass, how to do realistic skin, how to color an old rusty iron pot...things like that.
Thank you Lindsay for reading a waaaay too long comment and for all you do for us in You Tube land. Merry Christmas! ❤🌲

Thank you! There are a lot of "first impression" videos posing as reviews these day which is too bad because you can love a product when you swatch it only to realize it doesn't preform well in an actual art project.

I shall certainly buy them again and I love the box too, as you say, its a handy and compact size. Harry, the art gear guide is going to review these at some point. Can't wait to see what he thinks! I just ordered them!! I love the colors! That cat sold me! 🐈😂. I love your reviews on pencils, I broke my leg back in May and I was laid up for 3 months so I really got caught up in coloring in Johanna Basford’s coloring books. I started collecting pencil sets and love my sets like babies. Each set is different and I use them when I am in different moods. Odd, I guess. I love my Primacolors the best (my husband bought the 150 set for Christmas, bless his heart). The Black Widow sets are fabulous, I just bought the Dragon set. I have about a dozen others. Keep the reviews coming, I trust your opinions!

Wonderful review, Linds. And your painting is marvelous. Can't tell you enough that is touched my heart all the things you said about "cozy", "warm", "fluffy" and "fuzzy". Ha! I am in love with coziness. Just picturing you on the couch with your family around you, in Maine where I want so much to spend an entire autumn and part of a winter),
and you sketching. or painting some cozy scene. The fire is lit, the popcorn popped and everyone feels peaceful and content. Mmmmm. So nice.
The Phoenixcolor pencils review is so excellent. The colors DO seem to lay down particularly well. TFS this vid--I got a lot out of it. I LOVE colored pencils though I rarely use only them in any painting. XOXOJane

Every time I see a color pencil review I can't help but think of my Martha Stewart colored pencils. A set of 36 pencils $10.00. They are soft thick blendable core which are acid free and lightfast. But people complained they were too soft. But the same people will pay the times as much for prismacolor which is half the quality the Martha Stewart pencils were all because they were told to. Cracks me up. Now Martha's pencils are no longer being made. Best pencil ever created in the world ever. If you ask me. I bought several sets before they went bye bye. I'm down to my last set and I'll surely cry when they are gone. I like them so much when the kids want to draw with them I give them my prismacolors to play with instead. That's how valuable they are to me lol. Man I wish I had more. I'd send you a box to review. Just so people could see how easily manipulated they are by marketing. I don't mean that in a bad way. I mean it to be an example in how we all can save money yet exceed on quality.

You can also get the 48 set or a 120 but thec48 set would be good for details. A small set of Arteza would also be good or if you know what colors you want you can get Derwent procolour open stock. Those are super strong and hard but we'll pigmented pencils and you could buy quite a few for the same price as a budget set. Here is a review on those: czcams.com/video/xXNhaR5xlSE/video.html

I'm not one for packaging. I prefer the expense go into the product than the box the product comes in. I'm not oscar wilde. Although I do enjoy pretty things they don't make me who I am. Nor does a petty box make a product preform better. As you just proved. Same pencil, different box, three times the price. All because they printed a dragon on a box. But hey, if someone is willing to trade quality for pretense be my guest. To each their own.

I saw a so called review done by a British couple a while back that was complete rubbish and told you nothing about the product.
They complained about the tin being damaged and one of the reviewers was colour blind so he wasn't much of a judge on how good the paint was. Another thing that annoys me is these so called crafters who have clean hands and perfectly manicured nails.

You are totally right 😆 and if I was offered the stabilo woody to review (or found a really good sale) I would do a comparison. Given that they cost more than an artist grade neo2 that is lightfast it would be hard to recommend them over the neo2 or justify purchasing them. I do like to build my review database tho so when I get an offer to review an interesting product or find a steal of a deal to take a chance on them. I do on occasion but it needs to be a product I want or has a lot of review requests. I guess I have to draw the line somewhere or I would only do product reviews as they take a while to prepare. Probably a cop out of an answer. 😆

Looks like nothing for me this year. lol
    Twas the night before Christmas,
    I'm glued to the tree.
I'm wondering what Santa brought just for me.
Could it be cardstock or chipboard or lace?
    Or a Cricut, I said,
with a smile on my face.
And that's when I heard him,
    "Hi Santa, " I said"
    You know....good little girls
    Should be in their beds."
    "| know I should Santa,
    And now I've got caught.
But I was just so excited
    To see what you brought."
    "Well, let's take a look
In this room where you work.
    He shook his head quickly,
    And left with a jerk.
    I heard him exclaim
As he put it in gear.
    "You've got enough crap,
