MJ had already played 41 minutes of this game, with Pippen mostly in the locker room, up to the beginning of this video. He was definitely exhausted. In these last three minutes MJ had 8 pts, 2 steals and a rebound, and did a better job of reffing than the refs, lol.
Notice how MJ was involved in everything. I've never seen a player like him that was so involved in controlling the offense and defense of a game. That's what makes him the GOAT. Not stats. How he played. He was just better than everyone.

Honestly if MJ never played again after that moment he’d be even more legendary which seems impossible. MJ’s whole Bulls career was like a movie up to that final shot. From establishing himself as a superstar early on, to having to overcome Detroit after years of beatings, to finally winning that 1st ring, to 3peating, retiring, coming back in 95/96 to set a reg season win record, to 3peating a second time saving the day once more with that final dagger & the follow through pose to make it more iconic

If you watch this stuff on your own, don't skip anything. Pay attention to the details and sink your mind into that time and place. For example, notice the final score from this game and the previous one they showed. The scores are so low because the defence of the 90's was so stifling. The athletes were modernizing with the workouts and weight training. The physicality was at its peak. The amount of contact allowed then was crazy compared to now. For whatever reason the NBA was concerned for their product and the lack of scoring and altered the rules to make it easier on the offence. I suppose it did work from a business standpoint. Can't deny the money and popularity of the game now but, we've lost something so important in the process.
So now the ruled have changed. The dogs have been called off so to speak. The more talented players are being freed up. Instead of getting thrown into the deep end and finding the strength inside to swim players are getting their hands held while wading in the shallow end. I watched so many gifted players fail back then because they didn't have the maturity or just simply the heart to make it.
Yet another reason why Jordan is so remarkable. In an era where no one was scoring. When final scores were in the 70's and 80's this man just got better. He was still scoring at will! Still averaging 30!
I don't know man... I guess I just miss it. I miss the feeling of watching grown men/ warriors heading into battle. The sacrifice. The blood, sweat and tears. The drama was unparalleled!
Now l turn on a game and that's exactly what it feels like, a game. Wealthy entertainers playing a game. I've fallen out of love...

If you noticed, in the final 4 minutes Jordan scored the Bulls final 8 points. He made 2 steals, including the one from Malone that led to the epic shot everyone remembers. Also notice on the Malone open jumper, Jordan rotated properly, Harper and Pippen both bit on the play. Both.
Also notice that with 2 timeouts and 17 seconds left when they got their last possession, the Bulls didn't call time out. Even in a championship moment, that team didn't need an update on what they were doing, they all knew. As they went to the offensive side nobody even looks at the bench.

The ownership asked MJ to be the floor coach until the team caught up. Mike took off his suits and became the floor general for a team he invested in partial ownership with. He hired a former Coach of his from the Bulls organization Doug Collins and changed a below 500 team into playoff contenders. He was over 40 when he quit due to injury. Not saying that NOBODY during that time period in the NBA would have complained but about 99% of the players these days(especially if it was done to LeBron, Harden or other guys of that stature) would have complained even though they do the same thing. The Bulls were doing the most. Phil was on Deck with Tex teaching the triangle and the Bulls matured into a force. They molly whomped most teams in offense and defense. Pip was a mini Mike. ROLE PLAYAZ GOT IT IN... Shut down the league 3 out of 5 years in the 90s. MIKE WAS OUT FOR ALMOST 700 DAYS. and they made the playoffs every year.
So they had been suppressing the Utah Jazz for years. This is game 6 of the series with the Bulls up 3 games with 5 Trophies
Mike is tired, but his skillset will let him push on both ends of the court. This is the 6th ring in 8 years if Chicago wins. While Utah has been hungry for its first ever. Jordan was a ball hog like Kobe because he couldn't trust his team in the 80s. Now the Bulls are an Organic Super Team
Mike did it to them before and would not let them taste a championship on his watch again. He is Beyond clutch. 150% Fundamentals. This is the creation of Mamba mentality. Passing is great. You need a finisher. Mike was the man w needed. GOAT. Lebron is better than Magic. Not near Mike.
