We both are traveling on a budget, however we wanted to spend a certain amount of money for chaniya choli's and traditional Gujarati clothing. We do feel that as foreigners we should pay more than locals. However, if you pay 4-5 times of the actual price I find it inappropriate and injustice. What's your opinion on that?

Only dry clean your clothes. Should you decide to wash then wash them separately as dyes can ruin your clothes.
