In this Toyota video, learn how to drive a manual car with a GR Corolla.

Step 1- Toyota enforce your dealers to sell the GR Corolla at MSRP.
Step 2 - repeat step one.
@@s2ramz Step 3 - Repeat step 2
Unfortunately, they can't. The dealers have more power and influence than them. Once Toyota sold their cars to the dealers at a discount, the dealers can do whatever they want with the cars.
Step 4 - gave up bc they didn't sell it at msrp and get gr 86
Not theirs
My 99 camry isnt even near dying yet, and ive been slamming that transmission for years! I love Toyota.
Samee. I got a 2011 scion but close enough lol
I have a 1997 mazda miata but close enough lol.
@@marvyn_wezhow did you get a 2011 Scion tC without the trans issues lol bought mine with a blown transmission, did some research found it has very common issues with the synchros and an input shaft bearing
Toyota, thanks for making the Corolla GR with a manual transmission. Now, please bring back the option to buy a manual transmission in a regular Corolla in the USA.
I'd buy it
Damn. I just realized that Toyota did away with that configuration in the Corolla Sedan and standard Corolla hatch for 2023. That's a darn shame.
Manual hybrid is not possible. I mean it is possible but for them to make a manual version for the us market which mostly prefers automatics aren't happening. Even in markets where manual is preferred all the time their newer vehicles got automatic.
In India toyota last year updated their innova with 5th gen hybrid and automatic only. They got so much anger from that decision that they relaunched the previous model that had a 2.4l diesel and manual transmission back on market. 2months later. So now they sell the 2nd gen and 3rd gen innova simultaneously..
Most of the anger was for moving from rwd to fwd , no option for diesel. No option for manual. Toyota is one of the few companies where their customers do not want them to upgrade any of the stuff. Most of the toyota customers are those whole love it simple and reliable.
Am I the only person in the US who owns a modern Corolla with a manual transmission? I literally cannot find another comment on CZcams of someone else talking about their stick Rolla
@@deadplayawhat year? 2022 was last year I believe
Tell your dealers to stop with the market adjustments on these GR Corolla's. Hard to justify after TT&L a 50k+ Corolla. I rather go buy a CPO Lexus or something. Or even an older ISF. Unfortunate circumstances because I was literally ready to buy and they surprised me with a mark up.
Thing is they prob don’t make a lot of them to begin with so they fishing for dummies with the ones they get.
My hatch was 36k
Car flippers love this comment js. Not saying we're all flippers but they got in line before u and I
Got my circuit edition at $45k but most I see are over 55k, ridiculous. One dealership I use to work at automatically slaps a 15k mark up on any base 'core' edition GR carolla. Idk how they gt away with this
I got the manual car, but I can't drive it to the empty parking lot
Lmao
My neighbors 2008 Tacoma manual still runs like new after about 320k miles. He loves it a lot and he still daily drives it till this day!!
Remember, even good drivers will stall sometimes
" The bigger the better" Man just made thousands of boys cry
He really said burn it to learn it 😭
After thousands of miles in my GR Corolla Core, I can say with confidence that this has to be one of the easiest and most enjoyable manuals to drive. Would be a great manual to learn on!
Thank you for sharing. It's awesome to hear that you've had such a great experience with your GR Corolla! ❤️
"And don't be afraid to stall...💥✨💥✨💫🥴"
I learned stick shift on a 90 Toyota pickup 5 speed. First gear is the hardest. Learn that and your golden. It's like riding a bike. Will never forget. Thank you dad for teaching me.
I wish this video was around when I learned. This is good.
Even if you don't want to stall, you will haha
This will be my first manual car and will be getting this exact car next month. I been driving auto for 8 years so I think I won't have too much of a tough time learning stick. Gonna have a friend that knows come with me just in case lmao.
It doesn’t matter if u drove an auto for 20 years doesn’t make it easier to drive manual. All that means is u know how to steer. U need to practice a little hardest parts for a beginner is starting from a complete stop without stalling or having the car get jumpy and also if u are on a hill at a stop sign with a car in back of u. If u don’t do it right u will start to roll backwards and sometimes cars will be on ur ass so u can roll back into them. Noobs will use the parking brake to help them not roll back. Aside from that once u are moving it’s cake but starting from a stop and a uphill is where u need the practice
No worries, if you feel like youre having trouble with letting the clutch go smoothly try to give it a bit of gas WHILE releasing the clutch and not after. Either if you panic and stall just step on the clutch and even with a full throttle there is no stress, its like a "i dont want to go anymore" button. :D YOU CAN DO IT!
@daveydeboer2542 Thanks, dude! Will keep that in mind when I pick it up next week. Just getting it into 1st gear without stalling was the challenge for me. The others weren't as much.
You’re going to love it! best purchase I’ve gotten and got it out the door 41k
Been driving manual for 10 years experience in hundreds of cars
It took me a month of driving my GRC just to not be breaking it every time I left the house, wow is it a funny manual car to drive, so clunky a purposeful movements
I fricking love it.
Best car I’ve driven in years!
I'm having a great time with my manual GR86 as well!
Biggest theme to all the steps. Transition from clutch to gas should be as smooth as possible.
ive been driving and learning manual the last week and it's so much better
Very useful tips
Good Good Toyota USA
Ah, I was waiting for Pushing Pistons to tell us why it's good for a starter car too. ;)
Step 1: Find a friend that can teach you how to drive a manual
Instructions unclear: now I’m on top of the mountain
"Burn it to learn it technique" is pretty wild coming from an auto manufacturer that is known for reliability.
“Burn it till you learn it” driving a diesel, vw tdi I was surprised with how easy it is to start that way. You can obviously stall the car but it picks up pretty fast.
The torque Makes it easier to teach someone to drive with as it won’t instantly stall if they let out a little too fast
On the level with a Gr Corolla you just let the clutch out slowly, the car automatically gives the car gas so it won’t stall!
how can we progress from the burn it to learn it technique, what’s the right way to do it?
I really like Toyota products❤
Just bought one last week and have put 30 or so miles on it, first manual I’ve ever driven and absolutely love this car. Toyota please control these dealers they don’t honor smart path etc
Better technique for those that are new to manual gearboxes.
The first time you attempt to get the car moving, with the car running, place your left foot on the clutch, depressing it to the floor. Place the car into first gear.
Without giving ANY throttle input (that means don't push on the gas pedal) SLOWLY release your left foot from the clutch until the car starts to roll. Do this until you can get the car moving at idle engine speed
without any throttle input. This method I have used dozens of times to teach customers of mine how to drive a manual transmission.
What I find hilarious in my situation is that I has to learn to drive manual in the most extreme way possible out of necessity to not go homeless years ago. I got a full ride scholarship to do trucking and I had to do learn how to do this on a big rig and then almost immediately do this on the highway because you have to for the job. I left that field in supreme confidence in driving even backwards without looking directly except through the side mirrors once I knew what I was looking for.
Easier said than done 😂😂
Toyota’s team gets it! Love simple content like this 😎
Glad you loved it too, Dekiary! 😎
@@toyotausa Sure did! We should make a video together 😉 📸 - I make a ton of car content as well. czcams.com/video/za1tFzwz6Zc/video.html
If only i can get one msrp
Work part time at a toyota dealer and get that discount. That’s what I did
I’m at the part where he says take off the clutch stay on the brakes to release parking brake to start driving. I’m confused bc what do you do to start rolling and prepare to first gear. I’m sorry I don’t know how to drive manual at all. I’m looking to teach myself bc I don’t have no one to teach me. So I’m looking to buying a manual soon.
Guys it’s easy, let’s goo!
I learned to clutch less shift as a kid, considering I haven't driven a newer Manuel car (anything past 2003) is this even still possible?
Thx for this tutorial now gotta try it in my dad's hyundai
thanks Toyota❤
Step 1: Press Clutch and put to 1st gear
Step 2: Press the accelerator pedal and maintain the RPM to 4k
Step 3: Release the clutch quickly
Congtulations, you now know how to drive a manual
Step 4: Tow car to dealer to replace clutch
Step 5: Cry because this damage is not covered under warranty
Step 6: Pay thousands of dollars for parts and labor.
Step 7: Do it again.
How to reach parking lot ?
This tutorial for driver born after 2005....legends know this even in the darkness.
Caramba, ter que ensinar a dirigir um carro manual!!!
Am i the only one who remembers this from the straight pipes
These cars are so fun. Got mine for msrp with low interest but I work at a Toyota dealer. It’s a good daily while I build my shitbox 350z
For me, it's best to bring a new car with a manual compared to an old one because the old ones usually have problems including gear oil and various other things, if now there aren't many new cars with a manual, he usually keeps the manual because it's better and wants to bring back the fun days of driving a car from which era Our parents think it's a gear or manual car
How about make the gr msrp
Don't forget to teach them to float every gear except 1. ❤
What is a stall?
Toyota, can you please make another new version of the Toyota supra 1997
I drove my manual corolla sedan off the dealer without knowing luckily i had my people behind me the whole time 😂
Gotta burn it to learn it 🫡
Minha nossa, tutorial de como dirigir um carro manual!!!
Now to
Power shift
J-turn
Double-clutch
And heel-toe all in one motion.
I wish we still had manual options on new cars. Manual seems like a special feature nowadays amd some manufacturers even price it higher if its a manual smh
🔥
😎
Thx Toyota ❤️ I just recently buy a gr corolla now i am waiting to receive it 😁☺️
Congrats on your new ride! What made the GR Corolla stand out to you?
@@toyotausa The gr Corolla stands out for its GR-Four which is simply incredible in the snow or on the Automobile Circuits. I love its design that takes shape that we know very well from the Corolla hatchback that I already love a lot. (I live in Canada in the province of Quebec. I risk making a lot of trips between the USA and Canada in the coming years so a sporty and reliable car like the GR Corolla is ideal for my needs 😁) I work in one of the many Toyota dealerships in Quebec so I was able to afford it slightly cheaper with my employee benefits 😁
Can you teach us how to get a gr corolla at msrp? Because I'm in the market for one, but if i can't find one then I'm not buying it.
Nicee broo 👌👌
Toyota, my favorite car
The GR Corolla love is REAL, Faruq! We're glad it's your favorite. ❤️
End up in a empty parking lot ? Don’t I have to drive there? Can’t bring the car in my back pocket 😂
Would buy a gr Corolla today if the mark up wasn’t the same price a the Nissan Z
Show me how to get this toyotta

Europeans here can laugh their ass off. I now live in Canada and I found it really funny when none of my friends could actually drive my manual. I’m back to the society now, driving automatic…
Step 1: Learn how to stop a car
Step 2: Learn how to make it go...
How do i know which one is shift # 1 or 2? For me so confusion, look like I never learn how to drive manual transmission. Which is I always love to drive car with stick shift one day.
It's pretty easy, becomes 2nd nature once you really pick it up. Gears are in a "H" pattern.
They go forward to back. So you got 1-2 on left, 3-4 in middle, and 5-6 on the right.
Older cars might have only 4 or 5 gears, and some special oned have 7. But most modern cars will have 6.
Neutral is in the middle between 3 and 4.
Reverse is to the far side somewhere, it's dependent on trans.
The OEM shift knob will have yours trans pattern on it
but how do i get to an empty lot if i dont drive manual? 😅
With manual you spend less gas while driving. Normally automatic transmission is useful only in case of traffic jams
I want, in Black.
We'd be thrilled to welcome you to the Toyota family! 🙌
Is it possible without step one?
On my '02 Yaris I don’t need to press the clutch when starting the car
I really wonder why we need to do that 🤷♂️
It works fine without pressing the clutch on starting the car
Just put your car in neutral before turning the key/pressing the start button
GOD I really miss my Toyota SR5
Is the guy PushingPistons?
So, is manual transmission kinda trend now?
My first 3 vehicles were all 5 speed. Now at 46 I like my automatic. 😂
Am waiting for GR YARIS Auto
The people who have desire to drive manual do not need the video, the people who do not have desire to drive manual do not watch the video, make the manual cars more affordable and available.
In India we only use manual car majority
Step 1: Get a manual car
I can't, I am broke
I love driving manual . Feel so unsafe and out of control in an automatic. It depresses me that automakers are taking the manual option away in many of their vehicles.
How come the car didnt stall when he left the clutch and the gas? If i leave the clutch without giving some gas in first gear, my car switches off
This car automatically adds gas when you lift the clutch up.
@@maalikserebryakov so it's not a common feature then
@@ElBadrianoIt's a feature that started with high end German cars and had trickled down to many lower end cars. Just like auto rev match.
@@DragonKnightX12 it's still non existent in many markets
@@ElBadriano It's been in quite a few cars.. Fords, Yotas, Mazdas...etc.
Isnt that pushing pistons
The Step 1 😅😅😅😅.
in brazil this is the reality of most exchange rates.... we learn since we were children!!! hahahaha
However, we don't have the money to buy a car like that!!! Sad reality.
step 1 is kind of hard to do. You need to find the car, and you need to have the money for it.
So how we can return the gear for example third to second ?
Same way. Foot off the gas, brake or let the car slow down on its own, push in the clutch, drop from 3rd to 2nd. Release the clutch, hit the gas. Basically anytime you switch gears, up or down, push in the clutch, switch gear, release the clutch and hit the throttle.
@@souldry thank you 👍❤️
Or alternate go onto the lower gear, and let tfe engine break for you. This use more gas, but good for slowing down to whip it around a corner.
Also learn the heel to toe method if you want to Canyon carve or track.
@@DragonKnightX12thank
Granny shifting, not doubling clutching like you're supposed to...
You don't double clutch modern synchronized transmissions....
You dont need to put your foot on the brake to start
Toyota, you must regulate your Dealership or let consumer buy directly from Factory
How do you drive your manual car into empty parking area without knowing how to drive a manual?
Paddle shifter
Dont drop the clutch that fast
Instructions unclear, cannot downshift.
Awsome..but my friend most people fear the situation when ur stopped at uphill when ur in traffic or stop light with cars behind u...
What happens then? The car rolls back for a second before it starts moving forward right??
That is easy you pull the handbrake, put it in first start letting off the clutch while on the gas and once you feel the car trying to move forward put the handbrake down and off you go. No roll back.
Hold the brake until it's time to move. When it's time to move, you can raise the clutch just enough to keep it from moving (try not to do this for more than 2 seconds before you move to prevent clutch wear). After this has been done, gradually apply throttle while letting off the clutch.
The GRC in particular makes it really easy. In addition to having anti-stall, which'll give you a little throttle off the line to get you going, and hill assist, which'll hold the brakes for up to 2 seconds on hills and disengage when you hit the gas, the clutch is light and communicative with a clear bite point. I love this car.
You don't have to actually press the clutch pedal when your handbrake is up and you're in neutral gear
Depending on the model you might have to in order to start the engine.
Bro accidentally did a face reveal
Good luck finding a gr corolla
step one is way too hard😢
Manual is such a pain in any traffic, so glad I got an auto!
There are tricks to making it less annoying, like parking at stops you know will take forever, or feathering the clutch and gas under 5mph. Manual is for driving, not listening to music, chatting, or doing anything except driving.
@@crisbowmanlol It ain't that hard homie. First few months of owning a stick I figured out how to shift and steer with one arm so I can hold a Burger in the other hand.
How drive a manual the American way. 😂
