I love these cars for what they DON’T have - no blinking screens, warning chimes, or overly-complicated “infotainment” systems. Just you, the steering wheel, and the sweet sound of that exhaust!
Cars today are increasingly becoming just a cell phone with four wheels. When manufacturer's finally drop the gas engine, the transition to a phone will be complete. I have seen what an exploding cell phone battery will do. And I'm sure as hell not too thrilled about the prospect of sitting right on top of one that's at least a 1000 times bigger. No thank you!
@@shane8915 I get the sentiment but gas cars have literal gasoline beneath you. That is more likely to instantly explode and kill you than a lithium battery setting fire. Neither are ideal but we don't even think of our gas cars exploding even in terrible accidents. Batteries are the same.
@@reshadegaming6285 Gas tanks in vehicles are usually in the back of a car. As far away as possible from the occupants. Yes! Still a danger. But a gas tank has never self combusted from use. Nor does it stretch nearly the entire length of the car. All it takes to have a battery explode is to be punctured by road debris. Puncture a tank of gas and you're likely going to just dump gas down the highway. No biggie. But you go right on ahead and strap your butt to that Samsung battery. No hair off my as.
@@shane8915 Your right. But, as soon as solid state batteries are a thing even a puncture won't cause a fire. They're resistant to that sorta thing.
However, electric cars having battery problems without any sort of accident is extremely rare. It only gets headlines because electric cars are so new.
The car is SLOW.
The early 2000s always bring me back to high school. Still got my 03 mach in dsg 🤘
im buying now 03 mach 1 owner 1 driver 140 km 130 hun whats a good price for as mint one
@@nathanstockford8844 they are hitting 15K-20K depending on condition
man it sounds good
I'm generally not a 4.6 fan, but the four valve revs and behaves so much differently. Its honestly a fantastic engine of the day
I’m a big 2 valve fan simply because I did plugs and coils + serpentine belt when I bought it (210k miles) and it’s been 30k carefree miles except oil changes.
@@shittywheelies7403 Both of which are better than the godawful Triton V8s.
@@Heartstrong_Productions 2v triton is as stout as it gets mine still going strong at 250k miles. 3v I hear are bad though
@@alexislanderos30 2v and 4v are great engines. 3v has lots of problems. but the 4.6L version seems to be much more reliable. I have a 95 continental, very similar motor to the mach, but detuned for FWD! Hard to find a replacement today! Also very reliable for such a complex car. It is compatible with any modern scantool.
@@alexislanderos30 the 5.4 3 valves are the ones that had a lot of problems. The 4.6 & V-10's 3 valves didn't have the same problems
Every single 32V 4.6 sounds so much better than almost any other engine of that era, and better than some modern engines honestly.
I love those basic interiors....no screens and bullshit.
Especially the gauges
Aside from the newest, this is my favorite generation of mustang. Something about the exterior design, particularly up front was confidently original and completely unique.
What a treat this was to watch. Just took delivery of a '22 Mach 1, but I loooooove this old one. Super cool.
I picked one up two weeks ago as well. I remember my first ride in this gen Mach 1 though. I was blown away by the performance.
Congrats! Such an amazing car you ordered.
That exhaust note was prevalent all throughout the 2000s here in Phoenix. Good times.
Hopefully he could get a C4 or C5, Terminator Cobra, and a WS6 Trans Am here as well, the 1990s and early 2000s is when American muscle and sports cars began to flourish again and it's my favorite era besides the monsters that were popping up in the mid 2010s like the 2013-14 GT500 and Challenger Hellcat
facts
Had a 95 Mustang and those creaks bring back lots of memories. Mine was an automatic though and had tons of issues.
I have an 03 gt with a vortech on it. I bought and built this car in 08, I still love driving it, I have faster newer cars but it’s always nice to get in the old new edge. A very fun blend of a car with a lot of “modern” technology but an older chassis that has the character of an old raw muscle car, and a timeless body design.
I just recently sold my 04 Competition Orange Mach 1. I absolutely loved that car and had some special memories with it. I shed a tear seeing it drive away.
Yeah my father sold his 2003 yellow automatic in 2018. It had 4k miles, garaged, and had the extra chrome mach wheels included. Now would have been a much better time to sell, but who knew?
My first car was a 1999 V6 convertible, in chrome yellow, had a cold air intake and dual exhaust, still prob the best sounding V6 I've heard, slow as hell but turned a lot of heads and sounded wicked
Mannn, watched the whole video hoping for a redline pull but it never went past 6k. The sound between 6 and 7 thousand RPM on a 4 valve is nutty, this video was such a tease for me haha
Same, and no revmatch downshifts, the crackles and burbles these things make when you revmatch is heavenly.
No reason, it falls on its face after 6k
@@RidinDirtyRollinBurnouts not the 4 valves, they're fun to rev up to 6,800
I had a heavily modified 2V and it would pull hard after 6k. My best dyno runs were up to 6500 rpms making 612 rwhp. That said, the car wasn't made to handle that power and shit was always breaking like belts and pullies...
I had a 1994 GT - the first year of the SN-95 chassis. I put over 200,000 miles on it before it was lost in one of California's many wildfires. I miss that car everyday.
Love that generation mustang!! The shifter looks very notchy and as if it requires effort to get it into gear
Same with my MGW
Nah it was easy, might appear like that from the short throw kit they added.
daily drove one for a year and the only thing that required more effort than the shifter was not hitting crowds... and the clutch
This Mustang has one of the worst shifters you will ever encounter. I’m not counting old/neglected shifters; I mean completely stock/well-kept shifters
Something magical about the sound of 4.6 4 valve V8 from Ford!
That shaker hood is so cool. Ford should make a mustang trim with a shaker, in ever generation.
Wow. 8K miles. That thing is so clean. Lots of nostalgia there.
My first car was a 1970 mach 1 that my dad and I restored together. The color stripe on the seats is a nod to the Mach 1 of old
I had a new 2000 gt, my first car, and this brings back a lot of memories. Great video!
Been waiting for this forever
Thanks for posting you drive I got a 2003 mustang gt and I just started learning standard 2 months ago but watching you drive madr me a better driver and more smooth when doing my shifts
Damn this makes me miss a 2000 Mustang GT I had. Had quirks like the rev hang, clunky t46 trans that needed to be in a forward gear before reverse, insanely heavy clutch, and rattly interior. But it was made up with the beautiful exhaust sounds the 4.6 would make paired with headers and true dual magnaflows… Food times
Food time indeed
I had a 2000gt in bright Atlantic blue. Loved the sound.
almost all cars need to be put into 1st or other gear before reverse if reverse doesn't have a synchro
That's strange because I don't experience any of those problems with my 2002 GT and it has over 200,000 MI. The clutch is very manageable so maybe you just need to exercise your legs LOL, not many of my interior pieces rattle because I don't go over bumps and marmaduke's at 60 MPH. Maybe the one you had was abused before you got it, because the yellow one I had before my current one head over 200,000 miles as well but it was owned by a young prick that drove like a maniac and even drove the car drunk several times, so that one had a clunky transmission and a rattly interior. But yeah definitely sounds like it would sound beautiful with the exhaust setup you had for sure. I absolutely adore the two valves. Throw a raspy exhaust setup (off-road x pipe and louder mufflers like ataks or SLP loudmouths) and some bolt ons and you have a very fun awesome sounding daily.
That thing sounds fantastic!
Thanks for uploading & sharing this video.I appreciate it.Now I want one of these along with the '03/'04 Cobra. That V8 sounds so amazing!
Dude that sound is just…… exquisite 👌
Thanks for doing your thing Topher
unpopular opinion: SN95s have the best interior of any mustang. no imitation chrome, plenty of soft touch plastic/pleather, no gimmicks, simple. The only thing it really needed was a telescoping steering wheel.
Man, what a clean Mach 1!!! LOVE IT.
Stopped by MRT and had them install their H-Pipe (resonator delete) in my 22 Mach 1. Scott and I had a rev off in the parking lot, old vs new! Not sure who won. 😂. All I know is I love the sound of both!
Oh my god oh my god. Never thought I would see any New edge mustang on this channel - new edge fan boy
I don’t know why this specific car has so many creaks and rattles. Mine with 160k miles doesn’t sound like that
Respect for not talking about interior quality.
Haha no need to, the squeaks and creaks do all the talking. I don't know why this interior sounded extra bad though. The interior of my 02' GT with 70k doesn't sound nearly bad as this Mustang.
I really take reviews less serious when they grade Interiors of older cars on the same scale as newer ones and really factor that into the score. No duh the interior is lacking
i love these older car reviews, especially fast cars
I had the '03 grey one. beautiful car and enough power to have fun!
Great review! I would love to see a review on the svt lighting that supercharger whine is unbelievable
Those cars are still so badass. I love it
It's a shame you didn't romp on it a little more. I loved revving that 4 valve out to 7000. It wasn't as happy up there but they just keep pulling. Great drive, brings back the memories
Love the Noise and drive. Want one
the creaks and rattles coming from that thing would drive me nuts lol. The engine cant even drown them out.
It's a V8 sports car from the 2000s dude, its bound to do that. Its not a luxury/cruiser car with no creaks and rattles.
@@Annexation_ There are plenty "from the 2000s" which don't do that
@@MrCarGuy then go buy them idiot. Honestly lol. Any car from that time is going to be creaking and rattling to some degree in 2022.
My guess is that this interior has been taken apart and put back together before. The interior on mine with 160k miles doesn’t even sound like this
Sounds great. Thanks for a great video
very much a raw drivers car, just man & machine. sweet ride
You are ridiculously good at shifting...
Had 2 Mach 1's. Loved them! I want a 3rd.
That beck rd exit on m14 has always had a nice sweeping corner perfect place to test handling
Had an 04 Mach 1 and it’s still one of the most fun cars I’ve ever had and I’ve owned a lot of cars
My 94 GT convertible with Tremic 5-speed & Pro 5.0 shifter with a white Q-ball must've gone through 4 or 5 different mufflers before settling on 2.5" Cherry Bombs with perforated baffles and shorty headers with OFF ROAD H pipe . Man what a cool sound that 5.0 Windsor made !! Every body knows now that an automatic is the way to win , but if you know how to bring a manual out of the hole without either boggin or just spinning the tires and know how to power shift 4 gears without missing a gear , Its a heck of a lot more fun and satisfaction !
As a person that owns a 2001 GT, I love this
Had an Azure Blue '03. Loved that car.
Damn memory road I remember my guy in the marines had one never forget that sound
i myself own a 1998 mustang gt and a 11 crown vic police interceptor both have 4.6 modulars and i love both of them especially their exhaust note the mustang has flowmasters and no cats and sounds amazing and my vic has a muffler delete id say the 4.6 2vs and 4vs are the best sounding motors ford has ever made quite possibly even better then the 5.0 coyote
Love those Mach 1s
Buddy's got one and while it may not be the fastest muscle on the street, its sure is a lot of fun and makes a whole lot of noise!
Absolutely gorgeous!! Scott , please put the heritage wheels back on, you guys nailed those wheels and The Mach should wear no other wheels! 😀👍
I love these mustangs so much, that I'm sitting here watching this video, when I could be out driving my 2003 Mustang GT.
LONG LIVE THE 4.6!
So we're the same age! I remember my dad taking a red colored mach 1 for a test drive. Man I wish he bought that car.
The mustang engine is the best sound God has ever created...
the fact that older cars are going up in value shows that a lot of newer cars are generic, look the same and have nothing special to offer
I was actually going to buy one of these when I lived in Texas. It was lower mileage at 50k, the light blue color and was for sale for 10k. I talked to my parents about it and had agreed to it if I paid for it. I would’ve had the best car as a junior. But my parents moved us back to Colorado so there went that 😂
aye yo its got the folding mirrors.. legendary! its too funny to see "my car" being driven by topher. (2004 Screaming Yellow Mach 1 - no cats.. bbk x-pipe, slp loudmouths.. she screams)
That’s Mrs. Hoag’s I believe.
Still have my original Torch Red 03. A Scott Hoag signature car. 😊 still love driving it. 118k and still great
Wow, I will always cheer for you in Korea I'm looking forward to a great video. Have a nice day.
One of the best sounding engines ever.
this was my dream car in high school
my favorite mustang generation
my grandpa has a 99 SVT cobra with a manual of course, I hope he lets me buy it off of him one day.
I get why they did it but I hate the wheels. Factory wheels were much better.
Love this car
I can imagine myself driving this baby with Hannah Montana's theme song on blast
Hearing this car just makes you want to smile 4:16
I sure miss my Azure Blue 03 Mach 1! I should have never sold it!!
Nice I love this stang
Great video and I love reading about everyone’s memories with the Mach 1 in the comments. Mine is a bit unique, but aren’t we all.
In December of 2003 I drove a Black on Black 2003 Mach 1 off of the lot. I stopped by the dealer to look at GT, but never got to the test drive of the GT. The dealer had 3 Mach 1’s on the lot, Black, Red and Yellow. As they were trying to move inventory and had three of them, I got it for $23,000 Out the Door. Funnily, or not, I was showing it the next year and I was parked next to a guy that had bought one at the same dealership, from the same salesman, three months before mine for bit over $32k; needless to say, he was quite pissed.
Anyway, after buying the Mach 1 I knew it was a special car. For 20 years I drove it to car shows, in the occasional parade and would take it on Sunday afternoon loops. In the middle of last year it had approximately 5,300 original miles on it.
At the beginning of last I suffered a serious cycling accident. After spending over 100,000 miles on motorcycles, a few thousand miles of cycling, and various other hazardous hobbies - I was on a short ride with my wife and went over the bars at 18 MPH. Four surgeries and a total knee replacement later, I came to the realization that I won’t be able to take any of the things I like accumulate with me when I go. As a result, everything I have in every collection I have was going to be enjoyed through use. I promptly sold my Mazda 3 hatch commuter car and have been driving the Mach 1 as a daily driver since. The stiff clutch is wonderful PT for my knee.
It truly is a glorious car to drive daily. It has plenty of usable power, handles incredibly well (I have owned 2 MX5 NC’s that are like go-carts - the Mach 1 is not that, but it is planted and holds a line well) and is over 1,000lbs lighter than a ‘24 5.0 GT.
It also provides a true drivers experience, without all of the modern driving aids. Yes it has two modes of TC, plus off and kindly shows you blinking green light when the backend is stepping out in a 3rd gear sweeper, but it is everything I miss about driving from 25 years ago.
I never plan to sell this car, and whatever happens it will always be a relatively low mile example. The plan is to use it daily for the next 10 to 15 years, then let it rest in the garage living a pampered life going to shows and being driven on Sunday loops!
my god that interior
I love SN95's and New Edges
If it just has crome rimsss, it would be sickkk, one of my dream cars btw
I have a 03 convertible 100 year anniversary centennial with a x-pipe to loud, I like the h-pipe much deeper tone
Had a '99 GT Convertible I ordered brand new and enjoyed for many years. My neighbor has a pristine '03 (I think) automatic that I would love to talk them out of. But I'd really prefer a manual! Is this for sale?
Only 8,200mi!! what a beauty
When he upshifts, why does the stick always hesitate in the neutral position momentarily? I have had a lot of stick shift cars and shifting has always been just one continuous motion without it stopping in the middle.
5:04 Classic Mustang kickdown
I think me and the Toph are the same age. Class of 2007.
As you can see the Gauges are very different, you can tell they are special because it looks like the vintage Mustangs gauges, they would use that in the 5th Gen Mustang
Brings back memories! Sounds perfect for what it is! But the choice of wheels is...well taste is a funny thing, they look plastic. But the car is a great peace of history!
No way I just seen one of these Saturday here in Ohio for the first time same yellow as well
When you are filming these do you have an external mic to pick up the exhaust or is this all via the go pro inside
I really want a Mach 1 but the prices are insane right now. I just want a fun, inexpensive project. I love the New Edge gen and have been looking for one. It has to be the right options so it could be a while.
Thank you. Over rev between gears ? Hanging idle. ? Common issue, easy fix. 🙂Love this car, I own a GT, same era.
Even the v6s sounded good
Do a trans am ws6 next, manual of course. My first car ever and another late 90s era car.
It sounds good on acceleration, but on decal, what is all that popping and thumping? That doesn't sound normal....exhaust leak?
@ 5:08 it sounds great and still makes the jam
Love the work you do Always great quality, where do u or how do u mount your camera for these POV drives?
Thanks! Tedward made a great video on this: czcams.com/video/9EEWH6zf46M/video.html
@@TheTopher Thank you!
Hummer H1 next please
I got an exhaust installed from MRT they're legit
I like it color 😋
Funny, this 2003 was rated at 89.5 in the quarter mile, My 69 351 Windsor 2 bbl did 89.9 in 3rd gear.
If the 2008 lamborghini gallardo superleggera fast and furious edition with straight pipe F1 spec exhaust system with valves and flame tune this thing is gonna be the best track car ever to drive!
What!?
