    This game probably ranks in the top three for most memorable to me.
    I remember they even made a licensed novel series called Worlds of Power that had Blaster Master written.
    When I was fighting Frozen Crabullus, it was merely to demonstrate that I know the infamous tactic to get past certain bosses.
    The music, graphics, and gameplay is always enjoying and I hope you all enjoy watching. -

    I remember back in 1991 when me and my dad used to play this and it was so difficult that we had left the NES on all night so we could take a nap and not lose all our progress... +Paeak Status In Chou Wakusei Senki Metafight, the game takes place on the planet Sophia the 3rd, located near the center of the Epsilon Milky Way, in which an advanced civilization flourished. In the year 2052, the emperor Goez, who has conquered the rest of outer space and declared himself as a god, and his "Inbem Dark Star Cluster" invade and conquer Sophia the 3rd. The only survivor of Goez's raid is the Science Academy's Nora Satellite, who has escaped and plans to build a weapon to defeat Goez's forces. They build an all-purpose tank called "Metal Attacker" that is driven by a boy named Kane Gardner to take the lead in the counterattack. The game's opening sequence shows Metal Attacker dropped into the battlefield.[1]The plot of the adapted Western release (Blaster Master) is shown at the beginning in a cinematic slideshow as ominous music plays in the background.[2] The game starts with a person named Jason who has a pet frog named Fred who, one day, decides to leap out of his fish bowl and out the door. Fred then touches aradioactive chest, and he grows to an emormous size; Fred and the chest then fall into a hole in the earth.[3] Jason chases Fred down the hole, which leads to a large underground cavern.[3][4] While most sources say that Jason chased Fred down the hole, the game's instruction manual says that Jason fell into the hole while trying to reach for Fred.[3] There, he finds an armored tank named SOPHIA THE 3RD - a vehicle designed to battle radioactive mutants that live inside the earth.[3][4] Jason mounts SOPHIA to find the whereabouts of Fred and to destroy the mutants and their leader - the Plutonium Boss. The opening sequence has been described as "one of the greatest scenes in all of video games".[2][5]

      I made it to the VERY LAST FIGHT several times; it isn't hard but the pre final-boss (The skeleton/demon guy) would always wear me down so low that I'd lose before I figured out how to fight the actually last boss. The guy doing the fight here made it (and Area 8) look pretty easy which is seriously impressive.
      Blaster Master had limited continues; something like 8 or 9 lives throughout the whole game. And no save system. So by the time you got to the end you were NERVOUS if you were running outta lives.
      Blaster Master's difficulty is True Difficulty though; the whole game is a deadly interrconnected maze; discovering the correct path (and knowing what paths to avoid!) and navigating it is a battle of pure attrition. It seems harmless enough all the way up to Area 3, where you abruptly hit a dead end. You could go through almost the entire game again at that point before discovering the next area to go is hidden in the FIRST ROOM IN THE GAME. And after all the attrition and battles up through Area 7, Area 8 is like a kick in the face. Although not long, every room can drain your health (and hover!) extremely rapidly. If you can even figure out where to go.
      Needless to say, I don't think anybody beat this game on their first try.

      It wasn't until 1990 when Nintendo finally released the SNES which later Sega made the other famous commercial "Blast Processing" which all it means is that the Sega Genesis has a faster processor.

    This was what a game was back in the day. All the hours of trial and error to find the bosses, finding out what each new power-up did, and how it would take you to new areas (and FINDING THE PATHS TO THOSE AREAS!) My brother and I had about five whole pages written out as a guide to this game. Damn but those were the days...

    I almost feel bad for kids today that are accustomed to getting a participation trophy for starting a new game or naming their character.. they'll never know the satisfaction of overcoming a true challenge like this game. It would make your hair turn white, you'd probably shed some tears.. but you'd keep coming back to it.

    This masterpiece was underlooked for way too long back in the 80s and early 90s. Ever since I got it, I knew it would become one of the best games of all time. Had BM have better marketing, it would undoubtly be a consistent top 10 or even top 5 NES game of all time. I even rate it higher than all Castlevanias, because in BM you had better control of the character whereas in Castlevania the jump of Belmont was always stiff and choppy.
    BM felt like you were playing a SNES game -even way before the SNES came out-. The control was fluid, the graphics were awesome, the music was perfect. There was nothing negative you could say about the game at all.
    Also, despite being insanely difficult (kudos to the talented player on vid here, makes it look so easy), you always wanted to keep going.
    I know this may sound stupid, but one of my biggest life accomplishments is the fact that in 1991 I was able to beat Blaster Master.

    • @pessimystica
      @pessimystica Před 7 lety

      Totally agree!!! It's a hidden gem for sure. I also beat it around 1991 or 1992... on a Sunday afternoon, determined to make it happen, lol. My family never got a SNES system (*sniff*), but that's interesting about the gameplay being similar. We switched to computer games in the mid-90s instead, like Quake & Doom. But my bro & I still played Nintendo well into the end of the 90s when our Nintendo finally died :(

Took it to a friends house and he figured out the last level and together we finally beat it. I recently replayed it on an emulator and after 30 years I can still remember how to beat this game !! Not 100% sure of that as it's been a long time since I played this game.

    I remember playing this as a teen and loving it. In fact, I still have the original cartridge. But the biggest memory I have was that despite being able to beat so many other games (including the two full sessions of Ghosts 'N Goblins, which I believe was pretty difficult), I could only pass the big frog in Blaster Master by using a cheat … where you'd fire a shot and when it hit, you'd pause the game and it would keep hitting the frog until it died. I wonder how I would fare now.

    • @blackroostercreation
      @blackroostercreation Před 9 lety +1

      ***** I could only get it to work on the frog. I played it when I was really young and I can't remember why I found that boss so difficult. Kinda hated myself a little for having such a rough time and cheating to get through it. But I played the rest of the game fairly. I can't remember that boss you mentioned; it's been too long. On another note, I just noticed that it looks like the player is shooting rainbow ice cream scoops at him. lol

      @submariner103182 Před 5 lety

      @@TheLoveMario I know this is a late reply, and perhaps you have matured. But it was not a glitch. It was clearly denoted in Nintendo Power that you could use the grenade trick on the level 2, 4, 6, and 7 bosses. And they called it a cheat. Nevertheless, we certainly are splitting hairs with saying exploiting a glitch isn't cheating. I would think that any time you do something the developer(s) didn't intend, you are cheating. And, insulting someone blindly is pretty sad. Like I said, hopefully you have grown up.

      Yah, that was a drag to always start over. At least the music made it worthwhile, & since you had to keep restarting it, you got really good at the earlier levels... but the later ones, not so much! It was so frustrating to die at levels 6 & 7. I got to level 8 the 1st time & lost, so I was determined & committed myself to a Sunday afternoon in the early 90s to beat the game. It took me a few hours (maybe about 4-6 the 1st time? I liked wandering around), but I did it, lol. Then luckily Zelda had a save function!

    • @XerKoro_neo
      @XerKoro_neo Před 7 lety

      Im glad that the remake has a save function, but there is little no penalty to dying except for losing what ever progress you made. There are no lives afterall. But with save points outside every boss door, I found myself allowing death to take me on bad runs so I could give the boss fights better shots.

      Blaster Master 2 actually wasn't a sequel. It's like the whole "Snake's Revenge" thing, some US developers unconnected to the original team decided to make a US-only "sequel" to a Japanese game (Metafight). The original Game Boy was a retitled Bomberman game. Same goes for the Playstation game that I can't remember the exact title of. The only TRUE sequel to this game is Metafight EX for the Gameboy Color (released in the US as Blaster Master: Enemy Below).

      Ms. Pac-Man is another good example. Although it's a superior game, it and a second unlicensed sequel (this one more of a dud) was why Namco yanked their contract with Bally-Midway (Williams Entertainment).
      On the other hand, it didn't stop them from grabbing the rights to Ms. Pac-Man.
