- The Music Box Theater at the Borgata may be the house that Lewis Black built, if not with the sheer number of performances he's done there, then in all the gambling losses he has contributed to the casino's coffers. In this collection, Lewis shares how Atlantic City played a prime place in the development of his career, how he and his family and friends have won and more often lost at the gambling tables, and how generations of New Jersey politicians (and one particular real estate developer) have failed to improve conditions in the city.

We saw Lewis Black live in March of 2019, and I got to meet him after the show. He said during his bit how someone told him "Trump must be great material for you comedians!" and he said "yeah, Trump is great for comedy in the same way that having a stroke is good for taking a nap". We all died from laughter, even Republicans in the audience.
I am glad to see that Lewis is still around and doing comedy. I use to watch him all the time back on Just for Laughs and again when he was on The Daily Show.

Those are the calcified tears of those who came, and left penniless. The tears are endless, and it's sad. From AC, so I saw what happened to those who come seeking riches, and ended up in the AC rescue mission.

Went to Atlantic City often as a kid and young man in the 60s. It was awesome before gambling. Saw Miss America pageant.

I'm with you. I work in a grocery store and I often just wonder at the difference...especially T.P., I'm old enough to remember those 1000 sheet rolls selling 4 for $1, now it's over $1 a roll. I'm glad to not "need" that fluffy stuff...it's premium, lol.

I fail to see how anyone can run 3 casinos, the one business on the planet where you're guaranteed to make a profit, declare bankruptcy, refuse to pay for work done and materials used, and still sit on 2.5 billion dollars in the bank?
Technically, his casino company went bankrupt 3 times. It really started when gambling was approved in Delaware, then Connecticut, Pennsylvania, Maryland, Ohio, New York, Massachusetts. AC no longer had an East Coast monopoly on gambling.

Atlantic City reminds me of Detroit. How could you have all three of the big U.S. automobile manufacturers headquartered in a city, the factories for those companies also located in the same area, Motown, a few other large industries, and all the income that comes from those and basically fail? Talk about mismanagement! How about saving a little money during the good times to avoid catastrophe during the down times? Ever think of that? Fortunately, Detroit is starting to make a comeback, but there are still entire neighborhoods where half the businesses and homes were abandoned and left to rot. Those Detroit city managers must have all went to Trump University.
Ever been to those auto manufacturers? They don't give a fuck about Detroit, Michigan, or any of the people that live in the state. It's greed that keeps Detroit a shit hole, greed and people that have been affected by it for decades to the point it's their way of life to live the way people do in that town.

It's a combination of the greed of the auto manufacturers and incompetence by the city managers. I've said it for years: all workers may just be replaceable cogs in a wheel but nobody wants to be treated like a replaceable cog in a wheel. For a while I was against unions because I thought they had served their purpose and there's an expensive and sometimes corrupt management structure that comes with unions too, but now I think we still need them because so many business owners are so incredibly greedy. It's not enough to be multibillionaires, they think they have to be the richest of the rich. Truly sad.
@@Dr.TJ1 We need new unions, the UAW is as corrupt as can be from the top down. Maybe the unions of the past were strong and actually stood up for workers but the UAW is useless. You're right about city management, Detroit specifically has been screwed over by corrupt city officials time and time again.
