sorry, I can't go out this weekend, im dehydrating things in my oven for a few days
Plenty of time now!
Not to mention you can die because ovens aren't meant be used that way.
LMFAOOO honestly
same
I think the cost of Gas running for a couple days would be much more than buying a dehydrator. I think you've made abot 12 ounces of tomatoes for about $25.00 Nice video but not very practical.
Tellin DaTruth lol
these are more for convenience and you want to save item from going bad.
couple of days? $10 of electricity for about .10 cent worth of food.
B garlinghouse's biggest nut hugger My thoughts exactly
B garlinghouse's biggest nut hugger
How many Watts does the oven use at that temp and how much is the cost of a KW? You just made an uneducated knee jerk guess. Put your money where your mouth is guy.
@@priusdave2064 medium oven usage on medium heat (300 degrees) use avg 2400 watts. She stated she was in Texas avg price of a KWH is 11.67. She did say the lowest temp she could set was 175 degrees she also has the door open. So assuming a few days is 3 id be conservative ill use .11c KWH
At that she would use $19.008.
So my $10 would be a under estimate.
B garlinghouse's biggest nut hugger. Lucky guess, however inaccurate. I think you missed my point that you were guessing with out research. Good thing I called you on it huh?
@@priusdave2064 lucky guess? A guess doesn't use factual info in this case kwh price and oven energy usage. Does seem as you made a knee jerk guess as to assume i don't know the numbers as i didn't originally comment those. Didn't think i needed to as i figured people use logical thinking to run the numbers themselve.
couple of days? ill be getting that food dehydrator
hahahahahahahahaah
i tried in my small counter oven and it took 3h.
Ill buy the dried one, ready to eat at costco
Thankyou for showing us how to use the oven to do this , that’s what this was about , not what’s cheaper , but that it’s possible if that’s all you have , Thankyou I found you very easy to follow and clear instructions
I made fruit roll ups in the oven in about 4hrs. @ 200 degrees. The next time I will cook several other items at the same time. It worked very well. A few days...I don't think so.

Plz tell me oven settings, I have a IFB micro Oven, if i put bread in it, it just dehydrates, and very hard , i put pasta , it just evaporated complete milk,
Watching this video in the future will be hilarious.
Sit them under a fan for half an hour then put them in the oven at 100-120* with the door slightly open. After an hour take them out. Turn them over and repeat. When they can bend but not break they can be stored.
sorry did you say A COUPLE OF DAYS ???
Dehydrators also take 20 hours or so
Considering dehydrators are heating a smaller source area, I have to agree with ChillEDog - I'll be investing in a dehydrator. Temps where I live often get as high as 100-115+/- degrees (F). This feels even higher when your AC is busted, like mine has been for the past 3-4 summers.
I've been baking bread a lot these last several months, which has kept the house pretty warm this past winter. The bonus to running the oven has been the pretty amazing bread types I've made. Plus, the added heat from the oven has allowed me to cut back the thermostat & avoid using our brick gas heat units too. When temps are in the low double-digits to single digits, the heat from just leaving the oven door open after pulling bread is welcome. In the summer months with high heat temps outside, not to so much.
It takes 6-8 hours normally....
So idk why some people are saying daysss 👀
Yes but make sure not to leave your oven unattended lol
Ikr😂
Thanks needed a refresher course
I love how she says it nonchalant " just let some air in..and couple days my tomatoes will be ready! Like she will wait couple days....🙄🙄😏😏
So for the cost of three dehydrated apples in electricity I could’ve bought that food dehydrator
You can make applesauce too.
hi. that was interesting. thank you. can you do it with most fruits and vegetables. please. thank you
the longest two minutes ever.
Everyone thought the same thing haha best comments ever
Great concept in theory, but I'm sorry to say this, but I wouldn't leave my oven on for 2 days to dehydrate a few trays of food. I'd rather buy a dehydrator tbh, or just buy food that's already dried.x
One tomatoe dehydrated in two days , lol electricily bill is gonna kick your ass .
@DH 🤣
I've seen videos about how commercial jelly candies made with modified cornstarch instead of gelatin such as Swedish Fish, Sour Patch, and Dots are made. I've seen a video of how Dots are made that says "after pouring the mixture into molds, they are left in a hot room to cure overnight at 160 degrees." I've seen recipes for gummy candies made with modified cornstarch (also called Clear-Jel) instead of gelatin that say to use a dehydrator. Is there a way to use the ability to use the technique in this video to make Clear-Jel gummy candies in oven-safe silicone molds and the lowest setting on one's oven?
Rack for circulation, good tip :)
If I'm waiting 2 days for something it better be a brisket not dried tomatoes!
Hi, do you think I can use a big bread oven as a food, fruits and herbs dehydrator
Thanks! Here I go! 🍓 🍓 🍓
How would you dehydrate rosehips in the oven ?
Do you use bake or Boreal?
When I tried the advice of using an oven to dry food, having the oven on for many hours eventually melted my oven coils. So much trouble to get it repaired! DIY advice is not always safe. It's best to buy a proper dehydrator.
m. taylor i
Holyy shit 😬😬
That sounds like fake information. Having your oven on the lowest possible setting could not possibly melt anything that was made to be part of your oven.
@@LaMamabean There's nothing fake about it...wear & tear is common. Then you can replace my coils.
Steel coils won't melt from such low temperatures xD
Tanku anty
It would cost a fortune to have an oven going for a couple of days.
Did u say it takes 2 days for them in the oven to be dried completely??
That means your oven runs for r two whole days!!!
Is the nutrients still there if we dehydrate it??
Not talking about the two day turn around time, but for demonstration purposes, she should have FILLED up that baking sheet. Geesh, ESPECIALLY for a “couple of days” oven usage
How would you dry cranberries
Leaving the door open lets the heat out, which means it is having to use much more power to maintain the required temperature, and defeating the object of putting the food in the oven in the first place. If dehydrating food in a gas oven, (gas ovens are common in the UK), it could also result in carbon monoxide poisoning unless there is adequate room ventilation.
Most ovens only go to 170 for the lowest heat. Some things, like vegetables, are supposed to be dried at 125.....
Running the oven for a couple of days...$30.00. Bag of dehydrated tomatoes at the market, $4.99
Bake or broil ?
hi. can we use microwave place of normal oven ? and it can be only for 45 minutes. what do u think about that ?
Somebody get this video off the internet. Now.
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂ohhhhhhhhhh wooooow
Is it in celcius?
A couple of days?????? Jeez no way
I don't have oven what to do??
Couple of days!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
So do you mean the oven has to be on for two days?
Uhhhh yeahhhhhh 😮that's what she means. I think m going to save for a food dehydrator. I want to make my own dehydrated foods but the oven way I will have a high light bill.
175 celsius or farenheit?
Imagine the power bill I don't think so
easy but took days to dry out? its easy if its just atleast 10 minutes
Use a veggie slicer!
Is it Ok to turn the oven off overnight?
It has to stay on in order to fully dehydrate your choice of food.
I like your hair colour. Which colour is it PLS???
I dyed my hair a similar color, and I used medium auburn. Her hair also looks like it has highlights in it.
I can dehydrate jerky in 6 hours in an oven, and most people reccomend 6 hours for fruits and veggies?
Woe days that's a lot of time.
>leave your oven running for a couple of days with the door open
How about don't do this instead
I think most cheap way without dehydrator would be sun drying them.
Mine only goes down to 200°
Is it 175degree f or celcius?
Vetri TV
Fahrenheit.
I make beef jerky in the oven I mix some water with a couple of garlic cloves that have been boiled to make a garlic water add some liquid smoke marinated for 24 hours I put it in the oven at night for 4 hours when I'm sleeping and then I wake up after 4 hours turn the meat over and blot it with a paper towel and then put it back in the oven for 4 hours . This is about 140 F .i'm going to make dehydrated chicken pieces for my pets . Pet food is getting so expensive I can give them chicken breasts and pure meat for the same prices purina Charges for their cat food. You might as well be feeding your cat pure meat.
My friend gives me tons of figs, at least 10 lbs. I wonder how much time it would take?
1 tomato 2 days = 10 lbs of figs appx 6 months to a year
G0 to Costco
Couple of days!?!
Easy but it takes soooo much longer.
Days????
Oven for two days! I'll just put those tomatoes outside if the sun is strong.
Could we still preserve the nutrients after dehydration?
Alouis Fernandez my understanding, keep temp below 160 F
Nutrition is lost using fresh veggies . If you dehydrate frozen veggies from supermarket it’s accually more nutritious
@@longjohnlongdong4692 I think that that's not necessarily true I think that you have to blanch the vegetables before you dehydrate them like the ones that are already done at the supermarket you don't just do them raw
I live in the equator.. cya suckers ;D
2 days to make that much, how expensive is that????
Simple way to make them all the same thickness ...use a mandolin.
A COUPLE OF DAYS WTF
just leaving them out for a COUPLE OF DAYS.. will do the same thing.. ...put a cardboard pyramid over it.. for a fun conversation peice .....
why even bother with the oven? and dont leave home ?? lol for a tray of ONE sliced tomato?!?! lol
The key guys is to cut them all the same size… then proceeds to cut 5 different sized tomato slices 😢
My expense of gas would be quite high if I did that
Air Fryer
My store bought ones tasted horrendous, bet this would make them actually edible..
I would prefer to dry them in the sun rather than wasting my money on electricity bill. We have a saying "$9 for wood, $90 to transport them".
SHE LOST ME AT A COUPLE DAYS 1:20
how about, let sun do the work for free?
Oh yeah, let me just... Oh.. Oh wait no, I live up north, on the coast, where it rains all the time.
The sun isnt up 24 hours a day
That doesn't work in all areas. If the climate where you live is wet, it doesn't work that way (seriously, even at 100 degrees in August we are so humid water condenses).
If you live where it's cold, or doesn't get Texas-hot, then sun drying doesn't work.
However, I don't bother to turn my oven on. I have a gas stove with a pilot light, so if I want to long-dry, I just leave the food on the lower rack and let the ambient heat do it.
If I want to quick dry, I turn the oven on it's lowest temperature, and things tend to dry within a few minutes.
Not all of us live in good sun-drying climates. But yes, I can't see running an oven for days.
U look like Taylor Swift's mom . Like the younger version im not kidding
🤨
Literally not time or energy efficient. You'd probably be better off drying them in the sun....
Least shes beautiful though 😍😍😍
It would be much cheaper to purchase a food dehydrator.
🤣🤣🤣 Killer Watts Of Shmenergy Being Shmwasted
Love how she tried to skip over that little detail… a couple days. This is ridiculous
It seems like to waist time and money!!! Maybe it is easy and cheaper just to buy the dried fruits instead!!
i clicked off the video when she said 2 DAYS
This videos sucks. 2 days!!!. Use the sun.. Or buy the dehydrator... No practical sense
You should dehydrate yourself for a couple days...make that a week...to melt off all that lard.
