That was the first add I have ever not skipped. I loved it so much!
There's really only one thing missing and that's the brief camera transition freeze
Yeah. The first time I didn't skip these ads.
and the way she just dropped the phone XD
one frame missing and it would be on par with gmod parodies.
23:25 "So Morpheus is kinda a pursuer monster in this part of the game." She says as Morpheus leaps through the air like a minecraft character making me spit my drink out in equal parts hilarity and fear.
It looked like soulsborne jumping fr, if only you could jump in this game too
Fun fact:
If you want 2 stories at the same time, turn on the subtitles for Dead Aim.
Or they couldn't afford a voice actor to say the title of the game
My favorite part about Gaiden, Dead Aim and Revelations was that the gaming articles interviewed the creators for all 3, and all 3 mentioned how unique it was putting Resident Evil on a Boat "because you cant easily escape a boat." Like almost word for word, each one mentioned this as if they were the first and only RE entry to do it lol
Then 7 does it again
@@elgordobondiola It wasn't a functional ship though so not really comparable in the "Cant escape a ship" sense.
@@elgordobondiola Sick spoiler
@@TehSuperbeast bro you probably already know the twist at the end of 8, you spoiled yourself. Plus knowing that you play on a ship in RE7 spoils shit about the story
... because of the implication
That neck deform issue was common at the time and was often referred to as "goosing". It's when the mocap data is miscalculating the translates on the neck(the triangulation of raw cloud data points into a rotate/translate on the joint/animation control). Motion capture software solvers are much better today, but at the time the animators had to do a lot of cleanup post mapping onto the character rig. What I would often do is delete all the bad translate data and keyframe those from scratch, but likely this is probably a budget thing of not having enough production hours to fix all those frames of animation.
I scrolled down just as that part came up. Good explanation, cheers
@@therandomdickhead5744 Ever notice that they don't call it motion capture anymore, but "performance capture"? This is because a LOT more of the actors performance(including very subtle facial and body acting) can now be 1:1 mapped to the character rig, with the animators doing less work on the post side.
I always figured that would be just standard practice.. that being said honestly I am almost firmly in the hand animation camp.. just looking at some of the modern iterations of it from ID or valve.. especially when it's combined with a procedure animation system that can be written in code and scales to time interpolation instead of frames.. which that I might have said that all wrong but you probably of more than most people would know what I'm actually talking about LOL.. like I'm biased because it allows for modding much easier than having to do motion capture or having pre-canned animations.. it also solves a lot of problems in general with motion captured data and rigging and whatnot.. although like you can still end up with the same, especially if you sound design isn't built around it, that was where Valve really brought it home.. and then the PS3 and a single generation killed it entirely.. who knew that individual sounds were harder to play then giant uncompressed ones.. if you don't have a basic sound processor LOL go figure.. it's amazing how much that simple decision has had ripples over the years, I really really really miss the days when you could design a game for a different platform.. and actually design around it,.. as a PC player we haven't had that since crisis in the AAA scene, and the indie scene doesn't even bother anymore.. and even that isn't actually designed with the capabilities it's designed with the best practices which are essentially like saying it's designed for consoles, just the input alone.. and how much that's had a a horrible horrible brutalizing of game design(1).
Rant(1)
But I guess that motion capture comes into full play when it's just a standard practice that's design a game to play for you rather than actually play it yourself.. kind of like halo, the first game to really maximize on that potential.. make it seem like you're playing but actually be playing for you, cuz you have a dual analog controller and it's garbage for what it's trying to do.. it doesn't have to be garbage but it got stuck in a time loop for 20 years.. if you really want to get a good feel for how bad it is they have 2/3 keyboards and they sell them for several hundred dollars and nobody even bats an eye it's like a feature LOL
Fortunately Nintendo is outside of the time loop but unfortunately Nintendo is also outside of reality so that's just Nintendo's thing.. be interesting to see if VR makes crossovers in the 2D space because thus far that's the only innovation in peripherals that I've seen since the dual analog controller, with minor and completely ignored or marginalized iterations of things like gyro aiming, or the IR version of that that Xbox briefly tried and then managed to both fail by not actually providing the correct hardware but also by angering gamers that had built up muscle memory around a game that plays for you, if they had released the connect that worked I'm pretty sure it would have had the same result but.. you know at least it would have worked and could be something like the steam controller where I'm like that was a really cool idea I wish that was a thing.. how do I get out of this utterly boring timeline we're in.. I want the one with that boomerang controller, or you didn't just throw the controller at the screen it came back to you afterwards! might not actually have any impact on the future of gaming but at least it would be slightly more interesting than the boring garbage that we're stuck with now.
@@jakedill1304 the hell you talking about
also tbh most games work pretty well on dual analog controllers like action games or fighters and even platformers except on xbox controllers cuz they switch out the dpad making it horible for 2D platformers
its usually just shooters that are best on keyboard
This issue still pops up alot believe it or not. I've cleaned up a lot of mocap data with this exact issue in all my years of being an animator.
Dead Aim feels like, "let's make the enemies/environment looks better" and they forgot to create the main character first.
29:45
Bruce survives all of the zombie encounters, Morpheus, 2 Tyrants and trying to escape a death dropping elevator and gets absolutely OBLITERATED by Suzie lmao. I love it 😂😂😂
At 21:24 I had to replay Suzi's entire point about Morpheus because I realized Bruce gets grabbed by The Orphan of Kos, straight up asks outloud if said monster is Morpheus and proceeded to just (without hesitation) point blank shoot it in the head. I dunno why but the order of those events just cracked me up.
Now that's what I call being clocked and deadnamed.

Not only that, but he also clips his arm through hers to shoot her face as well
The "Zombies on a boat" thing, is really, really a fantastic idea, both for the aesthetic and for the claustrophobia.
Hasn’t it been used several times since, like in Revelations and RE7 near the end?
@@CursedWheelieBin I think it's the aesthetic of it being a dilapidated old timey cruise ship gives off a creepier vibe than the ships from re7 and revelations at least in my opinion.
@@plasmaoctopus1728 wasn't revelations a dilapidated cruise ship too? Granted there was more going on than that below decks but for the most part it was what you described.
Because of the implications.
Cold Fear, which is legitimately great.
I’ve heard zombies called “walkers” & “lame brains” but never “goofballs.” That was funny.
It feels like this game was a labor of love. And this video had me cracking up. The “Bruce runs like such an idiot” had me actually dying of laughter. His neck at all times. Suzie’s delivery is underrated.
I think it really goes to show how much having easy access to things like reviews "ruin" gaming. I'm of the opinion a lot of games that have mixed/mostly positive reviews are honestly worth picking up and playing. Games sort of just need to be "good enough" IMO, they don't HAVE to be master pieces. This applies to anything really, and I think people owe it to themselves to branch out and play more games without worrying about what other people feel about them first.
I put the quotes on ruin since I think reviews are still good. Especially if you have limited time, and want to experience the best the genre has to offer, you should definitely be playing the best games, and a select cult classics, but I do miss the feeling I had as a kid playing something, not knowing if it was good or bad, if the mechanics were considered janky or not, and just enjoying what was in front of me, instead of missing the things that aren't there from other games.
Redfall was one of those games for me. I've for a long time avoided things like reviews, not really out of principle, I was just more interested in spending my time watching full on video essays like this, or educational content for the multiplayer games i'm trying to learn, so I have the somewhat unique privilege of not even knowing what is "hype" about new releases, meaning every-time I boot up a new game I buy, I get to make decisions about what's good or bad myself. I hadn't played a class based co op shooter in a long time, so Redfall for me was a lot of fun on release, even if in hindsight, it's missing a lot of things. Sometimes just being with 3 buds, shooting vampires and cultists with some neat abilities is just a great time even when I'm dropping frames and there aren't 50 unique weapons and the combat was a bit repetitive.
Bizarely, this was actually my first RE game. Had the guncon and everything. As a kid I remember being horrified by the first zombie, and even more terrified when the hallway of corpses suddenly stood up. It may not be the best game, but it has a lot of charm. And pretty great atmosphere.

Well well well, look who we have here...
Game is so old but it wasn't ever rare or not heard of just many people seems to have skipped it not liked it and never talked about it since it's not a numbered series. Resident Evil was never about the numbered series and i consider the spin off canon which pisses off the FAKE CORE FANBASE.

Suzi has some of the funniest line deliveries sometimes 😂
Suzi: *Serious talk about if the villain is a trans or not, and how it’s refreshing for the game to just carry on instead of draw attention/make a joke of it*
Morpheus like two seconds later at 23:25: *Luigi flutter jump*
It's normal for resident evil games.
@@unknownuser494 Serious moments interspliced with goofy shit is the norm in this series. I love it.
Now I wonder if they named him/her Morpheus as a pun on morphing.
Yeah Morpheus is definitely a mix bag. It's like: Trans representation! ...yay?
I would say it was fair for 2003.
I think there's something hilariously funny that Bruce has gotten farther with Fong then Leon ever will with Ada.
That's just cause he needs to continue the Redfield bloodline and Ada is just an unpure fantasy compared to the true waifu Claire.
Leon and Ada have met up for 'quality time' outside of the games.
Bruce doesn't have a bloodline to continue
Let be honest Leon is kinda a nerd so most of the female cast in RE franchise friend-zone him subconsciously
Leon and Ada have canonically fucked, actually--They confirm it when they meet up in Damnation, although apparently their sexytimes was cut off by Ada going on an assignment.
Dead Aim is truly one of the video games of all time. The gameplay is playable, the graphics are rendered, the story is written and the voice actors say their lines. Out of all the entries in the Resident Evil series, this is definitely one of them.
It's Morpheustime!
I personally like the game quite a bit, all memes aside and is one of my favorite RE games. My family was pretty poor when I was a kid, so the only times I could get a game were either my birthday or on Christmas, and that's if I was lucky. I ended up getting my parents to buy Dead Aim for me at GameStop and I played the absolute shit out of it, so I have some very fond memories

As a kid if the game was playable I was in
Honestly this game is very nostalgic for me. This was one of my first RE games I played as a kid( I'm 25 now). I used to watch my dad play Dead Aim among other RE titles, until I was brave enough to try it out myself. (I was like 13 at the time) when I eventually beat this game with my dad by my side cheering me on every second of the way through. The intro alone with the dope synth music, and the save room theme is honestly one of my favorite things about this game. This game deserves way more credit I feel. Man time flies, long live RE: Dead Aim.
😂🎉😮😅😊
That’s crazy we almost have the same story bro lol and that save theme is really something else, one the best

“I think Umbrella put a little HRT in that new combination!” Lmaooooo, genius
I always loved how they designed the game cover. Such a great composition. The orange, red, and yellow glow on Bruce's hair and face look amazing with the fiery apocalyptic red background full of bioweapons. And of course, Fong looks hot too. lol
that cover trick me into buying that game instead of Outbreak when I was a kid
33:00 I utterly lost my shit laughing when I heard "and then they F**K" 🤣.
It's funny how the only thing about the RE universe that's consistent through every single game and film adaptation is how bad, truly terrible, Umbrella's security is.
And don't forget about the explosion at the end of the game.

My only question is: Why couldn't Fong go with Bruce, when she was literally slated for deletion via spaaaaiiiisseee lazor?
Eh, maybe she changed her mind after Bruce's surprise reveal (him knowing some chinese).
Coming back to this, It's my headcanon that Fong was convinced to actually stay with Bruce while on the ride to shore in a Boeing CH-47 (the Chinook) and/or the "Fade To Black Fuck" was so mindblowing that Fong decided to stay because of that.
Definitely an entertaining retrospect on such an "interesting" classic. Thanks for sharing, Suzi!
I've never heard Bruce so brutally tore apart from literally every single vantage point of judging a humans interactions and appearances haha
Hearing Suzie say "... and then they FUCK! >:)" just made my entire month.
I need that on repeat for an hour
I enjoy that we're getting more live action Suzi segments, especially the cosplay.
I looked into this out of curiosity, since these characters were the RE representation in Namco X Capcom (apparently they couldn't use the more famous ones because at the time their games were being released on Nintendo hardware; when that was followed up by the Project X Zone games several years later, Chris and Jill got to be the RE reps), and the Spencer Rain got featured in a NxC stage or two. Kinda neat, I guess. Wasn't expecting the nature of the final boss, neat detail - IIRC only the grunt mobs made it to NxC, so I was unaware of that plot point.
I wonder if this game's incident and characters ever got referenced again in the series...

@hehuho890 if umbrella just stuck to making trend-seeking makeup they would've made just as much bank. Lmao
The save room theme is so dreamy and hypnotic. The entire soundtrack has a totally different feel compared to previous games. I think the save room theme was a huge influence to Survival Spheres channel.
It's one of the most under appreciated themes
I Love the running gag on this review where Suzi is disturbed by Bruce's Stiff Neck everytime she sees his Broken Neck.
for some reason i think they wanted to make bruce's head move as player was in aim mode
but why go to such lengths?
I seriously gotta admit the mix of skits and gameplay really suits your style well. It all compliments your commentary.
Thanks for all your awesome content! You are super comprehensive and thorough with your reviews, and your look in this video is AWESOME. I love your hair and makeup.
There is something I love about PS2 era horror games, I'm talking about the dark atmosphere with the eerie music in the background that made you feel that you were in the creepy place with the characters.
Games like Fatal Frame 2&3, RE4, Kuon, Mortal Kombat (DA, Deception & Armagedon), DMC, etc. made perfect use of their visuals, the last time I feel that was with "FromSoft" games & the last two RE.
Very true! The silent hill games were also a great example of this.
Really just referred to MK as a horror game
@@zombiegodown5663 hahaha I was thinking whether to include it or not, but I'm talking about "dark atmospheres" more than anything, and the MK saga has several scenarios that seem to be taken from horror movies, such as the dungeons where you face Goro, the whirlwind of souls or any stage of the outworld.
Also Persona 3, Shin Megami Tensei 3: Nocturne, Killer7, Siren
Dont forget rule of rose buddy
Dead aim was one of my favourite Resident evil games, extremely underated and needs a modern port.
I remember playing this with a light gun and reload pedal was a real unique experience.
The music and atmosphere is still unmatched to this day.
Yeah, I wouldn't mind seeing a modern remaster/reboot of Dead Aim, especially since I've only ever heard of this game; and never played it. But Bruce McGivern and Fong-Lin really are the low budget versions of Ada Wong, and Leon S. Kennedy. I still prefer Leon and Ada; in RE2, but despite people saying Bruce got further with Fong-Lin than Leon does with Ada, that's because in RE2(i mean the original RE2, not the remake, in this case), Leon and Ada actually DO share a moment together, with Leon telling her not to leave because it's too dangerous out there because of "G" and the zombies, and she actually kisses him too, after healing the injury he just got from literally taking a bullet for Ada, who then wraps him in bandages. So, while I don't think Dead Aim is too bad, it's definitely crazy, and I agree with Suzi about this game being like James Bond meets Resident Evil, but it's also definitely got a bit of Sephiroth from FF7 thrown in there, but I also wouldn't mind a modern take on Dead Aim, but I'd also like to see more of remake Leon and Ada's relationship because I like them more. But Bruce and Fong aren't that bad as far as RE protagonists go, just a dollar store Leon S. Kennedy and Ada Wong, that's all. Nothing wrong if you preferred Dead Aim over RE2, or 4(my 2 favorite RE games in the series), even before the 2019 RE2 and the upcoming remake of RE4, starting my favorite RE character, Leon.
This is really cool and one of my favorite entries in the series. Was just talking about it the other day. Thanks for a trip down memory lane.

I abused the ammo in save rooms since it literally keeps coming back if you go back in, so I had unlimited handgun ammo when near it or close enough. Also Wesker seemed to be the one who came up with that Mutation Theory in his note entitled: "Wesker's Notes on Differing Mutations" (See The Umbrella Chronicles) he stated: "I have a theory of Sergei's unique course of evolution. I had always assumed that the variety of effects the virus brings about on its host were random mutations. However, witnessing first-hand the effects on Sergei combined with what I know of Marcus's transformation points to a common thread between their outcomes. The host's mindset appears to influence the evolution of the virus..."
He continues a bit further after from this but this suffices to show even someone with expertise like Wesker seems to agree.
Btw I skipped almost the entire sewer area last I played, it was hella uneeded and even able to be pretty much skipped if you do it right. The voices also were definitely way to low. Pluto is the only time I cared to use the silencer as he is blind if I recall. That final ultimate gun felt like it was pretty much taken from Code Veronica. As for what happened here with the laser beam thing Morpheus wants money or will shoot missles at China, China is willing to pay 5 billion but as Bruce says Intel Agents are nothing but pawns so using the tracking chip they tried to take out Fong Ling an expendable and Fong Ling wants to continue her mission despite this as she says there's no guarantee even if he gets the money that he will not shoot the missles anyway. I really loved this game, Bruce is my second favorite character after Jill. He was doing one-liners before Leon, and gained muscle before Chris(As shown in Namco x Capcom).
It's crazy how many RE games used ideas and mechanics from this game afterwards. They've used a lot of ideas from spinoffs in the main games over the years.
Looking great. Thank you for helping keep the survival horror genre alive, one video at a time.
I actually enjoyed the game when it came out. It's flawed and short, but very fun. I do have a few points to discuss.
1) I'm glad you brought up the subtitles. I remember laughing my ass off back in the day. My assumption is that the subtitles were based on an earlier draft of the script.
2) Interesting how you brought up Bruce and Fong's relationship and compared it to a spy movie from that era. I didn't become a James Bond fan until several years after playing this game, and I found that their dynamic is very, very much similar to the one shared between Pierce Brosnan and Michelle Yeoh in Tomorrow Never Dies (1997).
3) Yeah, it did indeed look like Bruce and Fong did it in the floating Twinkie at the end. But I always found it funny that the clincher in Fong's mind was that Bruce knew at least one word of her native language and had been to her country at least once. "That wasn't in your dossier!" Cupid's arrow works in mysterious ways.

I've been writing that she should show her self more often for a long ass time now. Her videos are incredible as it is. But let's not kid ourselves she'll get a lot more views like this
She is also an active streamer on Twitch
I feel like you get this a lot but i just found your channel and your voice is extremelly nice to listen too! And i also really like your commentary! Glad i found your channel
Absolutely loved the gamer shade near the end, awesome vid!
😁
My dad has this game.I remember vaguely watching him play it at 6. I remember being around 9 in 2010 and trying it when he was at work. I remember being frustrated at the fact I had to switch perspectives. However, for some reason this one always integrated me and I don’t know why. I wanna go back and try it again now as an adult. Fun fact years later when my dad played “revelations 1”. He said he was nervous to play it because the last resident evil game to take place on a boat was pretty bad which was dead aim😂.
Maybe he was referring to Resident Evil Gaiden, the black sheep of the RE boat games.
It was only available for Nintendo's hand-held sytems. Did your father have a GBC, GBA OR DS?
If not then it was probably Dead Aim.
Cheers from Canada
I like to imagine Suzi walks around in her every day life with tank controls.
I love dead aim it's so campy, felt like playing a cheezy American action/horror movie. I know at the end of the day Dead Aim is one of low tier RE games but God will it forever hold a special place in my heart.
31:02 transition goals
33:02 Well that was certainly a banging ending 😂
Hell yeah, more Suzi content! Love these videos, because I’ll likely never get to experience these games firsthand (probably for the best though)
Why can't you experience them?
Yeah and to get the inside scoop from one of their biggest fans.
some people don't like emulators, or just prefer to use the original hardware.
A lot of emulators are also illegal, and therefore can be of.... unpredictable quality.
Edit: Woops replied to the wrong person lol
Mobile touch screens are the worst sometimes.
Brilliant video, Suzi! Keep up the great work 💛
I really appreciate your hard work on these amazing videos ♥️
I kind of love this game, many great memories laughing my ass off, using the Controller & Guncon Combo, and playing with a gameshark to enable 3rd Person Aiming, but I barely touched it after 4 came out. A goofy Easter egg I discovered, if you repeatedly fire a shotgun at the exact same spot, eventually the bullets form a huge spiral. This was also the first Resident Evil game where you could move and shoot at the same time. I always hoped they would bring Bruce back in some capacity, even if he's just a low level BCAA character.
Bruce and Ark are canon, but are forgotten, hardly we will see them again in 3d
Yeah, especially when Leon brings him up during a convo.
Finally!, Someone who remembers the game shark
Bruce isn't part of the BSAA, he's part of the Anti-Umbrella Pursuit and Investigation Team, an elite US Government team made directly after the fallout of Raccoon City's destruction. Barry, Krauser and Leon were a part of this team, and was the precursor to the BSAA, the FBC in Revelations, and Blue Umbrella(since the FBC and Blue Umbrella are US government sponsored programs)
This game's save room theme IMO is probably the best alongside 0 and CV. I would literally back in the day put down the controller for a good 3 to 4 hours napping to it.
Another excellent video Suzi! You got me smiling and laughing on this weird side game throughout the video. Can't wait for your take on the Outbreak series!
And Revelations too, I hope.
One thing I just remembered about old games watching these, was the mini grind to get to those hi def cut scenes that seemed like they were from the future (as a kid)
Got this video again and forgot I even watched it. Really I think it's just good to see you again. Love watching your content. Can't wait to see you again. Btw, this game made it into my top ten, lol. I liked it.
So as I was hearing the music, I was like "this sounds oddly familiar". And then you mentionned Cavia. Sure enough, the composer for Dead Aim is also one of the composers for Drakengard. It explains the moody unnatural sampling i kept hearing
This really does feel like a lost RE4 prototype. It clearly experimented with alot of ideas - both good and bad - that would pop up in later 3D games.
The unexpected ad start had me laughing so hard wtf😂😂 thank you Suzi
I could hear you all day, its so relaxing !
I was caught off guard with the whole "and then they FUCK!" LOL I busted up laughing
I really really hope this becomes a series. I'd love to see your opinions on other resident evil side games or forgoten media
The electric tension sound/music that plays whenever Tyrant Morpheus shows up is so cool. Gotta be one of the coolest Tyrants ever.
Im so glad i found your channel, amazing content. But i have a question. Are you going to get around to the later resident evil games like 5-8?
