    9:30 The two stage paddel actually serves a few things in a manul too. So first of all it offers a bit of extra power and on the cruisecontrol mode, to limit your max speed you can actually go over that speed by giving it a full kick down.

    I got the exact same model - ‘21 Autobahn 6MT in pure grey. I partially based my decision on watching this video like 50 times…lolol. But I love this car thus far - it has every thing you need (ACC, leather, digital cockpit, heated/cooled seats, telescoping steering wheel, plenty of highway passing speed), and nothing you don’t - such as a high gas bill. I basically fill up once a month on 87 octane and it does great! Also - the 6MT is an absolute blast to drive; very light clutch, medium catch point. You can drive this thing hard or easy so it’s your choice how much fuel economy vs performance you want. I recently took it from LA to Mendocino County (500 mile drive) and averaged 38mpg round trip. It’s also a blast to drive in the mountain twisties - the low end torque and LSD really make the car dance on curvy roads, plus having the manual gives you so much control on the downhills in low gear. Love this car!!!

    I just bought a white 2021 GLI DSG Autobahn (Canadian) today. I drove both the manual and dsg. Both fun, but the dsg is just so fast at shifting. Not a pdk, but next best. And this car is just nuts. I think it makes more than 250 ftlb torque....
    Thanks for your reviews. I really leaned on them to make a decision on my purchase! 👍🏻

    I have a 2020 GLI S w/ the 6 speed. I can say that even though it's not as classy on the inside of the autobahn edition (GLI S has manual gages, cloth manual seats, and a worse audio system among other things), the drivetrain and the driving feel are pretty much identical and feel great. The GLI of this generation is a great all arounder and I love the car. Great video I definitely feel like you covered all the good things and some of the not so good things!

    I purchased a 2019 and it was a lemon. Had an issue where it liked to gently stall when it was either moving in gear (literally at 30mph it turned off), or if my foot was on the clutch while in gear at a stop. Tried getting it fixed and VW had no idea why it was happening (I call BS). Took my money back, bought a WRX and I don’t regret it! Besides that one issue, I loved the car and it definitely hurt giving it back. Hopefully this hasn’t happened to others.

      many automatics have it too, its an emissions thing. sharply cutting throttle can cause "burps" of unburned fuel, sounds cool, not good for emissions or fuel economy.

    I like that the Jetta hasnt changed much on the exterior since MK6. It's a nice design that doesn't look like all the other brands. I noticed Kia, Hyundai and Ford on the rear all copied off of Ford. While sharp, I'll take the "mature" look of the Jetta. I love my MK6 Jetta S with 200k, it's been good to me over the years. Mine is boring being the base non turbo standard model but honestly thats what has made it so incredibly reliable with decent maintenance.

    I own a Mk7 GTI and was interested to check out this new "Mk7" GLI. While the GLI is now much closer to the GTI, it still isn't equal -- the Mk7 Jetta has a cheaper dash design, less bolstering on the front seats, no rear vents, taller gearing. But none of those are a dealbreaker to me -- the GLI is good value, and I could be plenty happy in the it. The only thing I see that I really don't like is the obnoxiously large upshift indicator readout. Worse than even the incessant up arrow from the Mk2 Golf. Thx Topher for the solid review.

      So, I had a Mk7 GTI Autobahn (2016 model year), and traded it for a 2020 GLI S. So, I went from fully-loaded GTI to basic GLI, with a couple options including a frameless Homelink mirror. With the ambient lighting and the contrasting piping and stitching on the seats, the GLI never feels like a bargain-basement car, though I have to say the rear door panels are pretty hard. So, stay in the front, lol. Overall, I enjoy it just as much as my GTI.

    ive never really understood why people hate the sound system on this car, i own a 2019 autobahn with the beats system and honestly, its one of the few systems i enjoy blasting at almost full volume. bass is heavy, mids are about as thick as you could get them and treble is pretty great. maybe im inexperienced when it comes to sound and the only complaint i have is the shaking of some plastic parts in the cabin, they do rattle a bit. idk educate me if im totally blind.

    • @BenDover-io9vg
      @BenDover-io9vg Před 3 lety

      Congrats on the car. Tuning will throw a TD1 when your car gets scanned at the dealer. You won't have a strong case for powertrain warranty with this flagging. There are ways around it.. but if you want to be safe with warranty you should look into plug n play solutions like the JB4. These cars are incredibly responsive to tuning and so worth it imo.

    I think this GLI (30th Anni) is a better value than a similar GTI. Not a fan of cars with trunks (say me w/a WRX; I have reasons). I'd really love for VW to give the Alltrack/GSW the "GTI/GLI" treatment...or...dare I say, the Golf.:R treatment.
