Now we can devour the gods TOGETHA
THE VERY GODS
AS FAMILYYYY
TOGETHAAAA!
…….very well
TOGETHAAAAAA
Ryakrds' story is one of the most tragic and comical ones.Having himself eaten and fuse with a giant snake to try and defeat a god he thought was cruel only to become that himself and then ended up getting eaten by his own wife.
That's not tragic. He got what he wanted. He was with a God that devours other gods. His wife is eating him to bring him back.
@@REAPER3fitty it is tragic when the serpent ate him and they fused he also got the will and goal of the serpent what was not his goals losing all his senses of justice all of the men who once stood by him left him only his wife and few stood by him the rest left because of how greedy he became when he fused with the snake now that he got killed him wife is trying to bring him back to the world feeding on his corpse only thing we should actually blame is the serpent here well that’s my opinion not sure if it’s right tho because I only watch play throughs and watch a little bit of the lore have not played the game
@@monicawilliams3617 you’re right the serpent does influence Rykard now that they are one. Hard to say if he really even is Rykard anymore
i killed the wife
The wife putting him in her mouth? Must of been his birthday...
Rykard was sooooo close to being the second morally good demigod, then he had to trip at the finish line

You forgot that Rykard helped Ranni with stealing part of Destined Death. So he was a co-conspirator of the Night of Black Blades.
wait really?!! that's so cool! yet another piece of the puzzle that I didn't know about :)))
And they were scared as shit because they thought Maliketh might find out
@@thecommentguy9380 Ranni actually trusted Rykard could defeat maliketh, with the help of the blasphemous claw but still pretty cool
@@bacula8424 She didn't. The Blasphemous Claw states it was a last resort weapon that wpuld just give Rykard a fighting chance. Without it, he would lose cleanly.
@@OGXenos I mean nobody has a chance at defeating maliketh without any advantage period.
And even with an advantage you'll still have to be a very good fighter.
I feel like there’s a lot of middle ground between him rightfully criticizing the demigods for their behavior and then feeding himself to a snake😂
Unfortunately for Rykard, the middle ground was NOT likely to sell the narrative of this story.
Something to note: There is no more Rykard. Ever since Eiglay the God-Devouring Serpent consumed him the serpent merely used his own power as a demigod to become many many time stronger and also able of intelligent communication/speech. Hence Rykards true failing was giving himself to the serpent thinking he might retain anything of himself afterward.
It might be using his name however what we fight is no longer Rykard in any sense. Eiglay has complete control and is using him as a puppet and part of itself.
The two became one being. It's not like Rykard didn't know what he was getting into. All of volcano manor, even the ghost begging you to kill his master are all in his service. Much like Godrick, Rykard uses his failed attackers to get stronger. He may be slumbering most of the time, letting his other half devour recusants, but has no problem doing it himself. The first words he says when he wakes up is "Very well..." as in, "Guess I need to take care of this myself."
@@Mcboogler also he was able to see the desires of Eiglay as the serpent wanted to devour the world as well. Which is kinda sad because Rykard went from blasphemous ambition to generic imo
Rykard keeps his sword in the beak of the snake maybe to controll it somehow
I really like this! but I always thought rykard had a lot of control as after we defeat the serpent as rykard shows up in phase II with the original head flopping around.
@@G.M23 My theory is that it's all Eiglay using Rykards mind/speech. Hence why it calls itself "The Serpent King."
Also Rykards own former knight tells you it's no longer Rykard otherwise he simply wouldn't have devoured his own champions and seek to devour the entire world.
Either that or Rykards intellect fused with Eiglays. Either way there is no more Rykard as he once was. Even if some of Rykards consciousness remains it's tainted by that of the serpent.
TOGETHA we will watch elden ring lore

Rykard is a Praetor. Historically Praetors are a powerful position in the Roman Republic and act as judges in a sense. Praetors also have military power, hence why Rykard has his own knights and forces.
The lore in this game is actually crazy good. Yeah it's not out there & all in your face, but it's there & it's actually an amazing story🤷♂️
Wish they did it like Souls a little more it felt so much more missable in this game
I mean, the writer of "Song of Ice and Fire" helped writing the story. I believe up until before the game starts. When the game starts and you wake up as the Tarnished, that's when the developers took over the entire story.
that's the best part tbh. there are a lot of people who don't care at all about the story and because it's not in your face, they can enjoy the game
people who care about the story can go look for it themselves
@@purplefloyd1513 I think there was just a lot MORE going on in Elden Ring than in the Souls games, but they tried to use the same degree of drip feed story telling.
It's not hard to wrap your head around the general story of DS1, for example. Even with minimal details provided the basic story is simple enough to follow.
In Elden Ring things are so complicated that the story telling approach doesn't work as well. When someone tells you something you end up not having enough of an understanding to contextualize what they are telling you. As a result you don't have a good way to remember or filter important details to build a narrative. For example Melina tells you early in the game that her mother was imprisoned in the Erd Tree. I barely knew what the Erd Tree was at that point, let alone the fact that it was Marika who was imprisoned there, so that fact just passed me by as meaningless gibberish on my first playthrough.
There's so much awesome lore in Elden Ring.... I just wish they had given the average person a fighting chance in figuring some of it out themselves.
@@scottbeale1825 100% agree, there should have been an option to pursue a more story based side of things the lore sounds so fantastically cool, I just dont want to get a youtube degree to understand it

The most berserk styled boss fight in the series
Ranni also trusted him enough with her plan that she gave him the blasphemous blade to kill Malekith
Nah the blasphemous blade is the sword he uses, she gives him the blasphemous claw
He was also a contingency plan for ranni in case her plan failed, she wanted him to kill malekith, something no one would ever be able to do.
I was able to
Married a stripper then got eaten by a snake. Ultimate edge lord

It’s really too bad that there wasn’t a blasphemy/god-devouring serpent option for an ending, hopefully we get a few additional endings with the DLC
Ahh dude, I had fever dream of Rya emerging from the waters as the great serpent and chomp the Elden beast's neck.
I would argue that Lord of Madness probably counts as Blasphemy.
I like how this minute or so long video condenses an hour long lore video bringing up all the high points. Fextra needs an indepth Elden Ring lore videos now.
You either die a hero or live long enough to become the villain 😅
Villains Are Way Better Than Heroes :)
I just realised that rykard is the only one who doesn't have any issues with his wife or daughter
He learn from Radagon Mistake also he was the person who Tutoring Miquella about Haligtree.
So rykard was once handsome 😊
"That Boy Aint Right" -Hank Hill
Rykard is the epitome of irony. Hunted Golden Order heretics, saw why they became heretics, and thus became a heretic himself.
Because he see the true golden order. that also the main reason he agree about Tutoring Miquella about Haligtree
@@darellmawitjere I agree with this. He saw what the Golden Order had become and realized that they didn't even follow their own beliefs.

"Why is Rykard called The Lord of Blasphemy?"
Bruh. Cuz that dude is Blasphemous AF
The fact that this doesn’t lead to an ending of its own is a crime.
The lore is so dense I have to listen to these videos like 3 times to take it all in lol
I swear Elden Ring's story CLEARLY told would be a badass movie
Nah Rykard is really one of my favorite demigods. The name "Rykard" just sounds cool asf
Fun fact George R R Martin Take his Name from Rykard Karstark his own novel Character but have Robb Stark behavior.
I always thought that he was callled so, because after the night where Godwyn was assassinated, the blame for the murder was put on him.
This was because Rykard and Ranni were working together in toppling the Golden order, as seen by the trinket ranni gave him to protect him from Maliketh.
This would suggest that even before the shattering, rykard was considered the Blasphemous.
This is further fortified, as the Golden order went to war with Rukard in unison, and not just one or another Demigod on conquest…and they were destroyed, because the manor was turned into a impregnable fortress beforehand, in preparation for the planned attack, as a result of Godwin’s death.
That’s what I got from the lore and in game deposition.
That was what I was thinking as well. Rykard took the fall so that the Golden Order wouldn't go after Ranni.
Caria manor was under threat from the Cuckoos already, and her mother was indisposed, so she was not in a good position to deal with real conflict.
Whereas Rykard very much was prepared, since the battle of Mt. Gelmir is explicitly called the worst battle of the Shattering. It is called this even when Caelid was rot bombed and Radahn was turned into a rabid beast.
The Battle of Mt. Gelmir was so bad in fact that it caused the yellow flame of madness to spring spontaneously from even the Golden Order warriors.
Rykard face fused with the snake looked like Grunbeld apostle form, maybe it's one of the many Berserk that Miyazaki put into his games.
My favorite thing is all the alternate endings are just people in the know of how bs the erdtree and golden order as a whole is rebelling against the erdtree and golden order.
Gives me flash backs to the lord of hollows ending in ds3
I love Rykard. Hes my hero. He has births that are repellant birthing rutuals i wish i could witness. They xouldnt be any worse than normal human birthing. HONESTLY. Rykard is above it all but hes treated as a gimmick. That boy is badass.
Rykard is actually a top character for me lore wise like one of the only demi gods to take issue with the unjustness of the golden order and fight back against it only to end up becoming deranged and losing himself
Can you imagine how hot it must be in volcano manor? Why someone would settle there is beyond me 😂

Bernahl is the drippiest tarnished character in the game. Just look at that swagger in the thumbnail.
He was an inquisitor who went dances with wolves. Not surprising he was called a heretic as he seemingly forsook everything he believed in before that point. Not to mention the golden order doesnt like gods not aligned with the greater will.
When the snake consumed him, his knights lost their master thus becoming crestfallen.
He is the only demigod without his own knights by the time we meet him.
Rykard should have had an endings tied to him
It would have been cool if they made a future dlc with a fight against him in human form and the possibility to get his sword before the snake stuff. I know it isn't probable but maybe in the far future who knows
He would be a strong holy/arcane user
Rykhard was pretty chill all things considered
TOGETHAAA WE WILL DEVOUR THE VERY HODS (add a 4000 year old smoker voice while reading that )
Its interesting to note that Rykard is also Ranni's Plan B. He helped her steal part of the Rune of Death and its hinted at that him feeding himself to the serpent is so that if Ranni can't find a champion to challenge Marika and the Greater Will, Rykard would literally just eat them after he's grown strong enough.
It's kinda crazy that he didn't even need to feed himself to the serpent or eat his champions. He's just been chilling until we show up, so he could've just stayed human and not get betrayed by his followers.
What? No
It makes sense that Radahn and Rykard were comrades as fire resists the encroachment of the scarlet rot.
Missing the part where he essentially was taking blame for his sisters plots along with that
Now i'm interested, how he went from a badass who was capable to fight Maliketh (Ranni gave him a claw that could _parry_ the Destined Death. I doubt that such a tool would be entrusted to someone incompetent) to a "hurr durr we devour the very gods TOGETHA". Damn, i would love to see this fight!
He started off righteous, but lost the point of his cause the moment he turned to the serpent.
Bro didn't even try to pronounce "justiciar" lmfao you even spelled it out but still said "justicar" 😂
The Lands Between were pretty horrific long before the night of the black knives.🔪

The vore man who vored he's sword.
Patches and Tannith's quest felt unfinished. Patches gave an item to give to Tannith in Rykkard's arena but then nothing happens
You know, the saying "The road to hell is paved with good intentions"- seems to have taken on a bit of a literal nature in this case...
When Rykard merried Tanith it was Epitome of Robb Stark merried Jayne Westerling. because George R R Martin was the one who write the lore.

It’s so funny coming into a fantasy world you know nothing about. It always reminds me how ludicrous we all sound when explaining the specifics of our favorite settings to non-fantasy people. We must sound insane.
Bro Im sorry but even before I knew his story, as soon as I saw him fused with a giant fucking serpent, I was like "... this is just against the laws of nature" and needed no other reason to very quickly want him dead 💀
His transformation from who was described as charming, handsome (despite what we see… though that is after the serpent), and one of the most intelligent demigods to the monstrosity he is in the end is almost frightening. He believed feeding himself would fuel the ambition but despite both having immense power, it seems to be a similar chase to Sellen as it overpowers and causes sloth.

Rykard was allied with raani to take out the erdtree but he wants to become stronger so he fed himself to great serpent but he lost his dignity and purpose and starter eating his own champion....the piles of bodies you see in his den is his own soldier's trying to kill the serpent.....also ranni gave rykard a task to kill Maleikth the black blade.... beacuse every demigod feared him beacuse he have destined death within his flesh!
