Even though I isn't the most talented I think he is the greatest person in the paddock. Even with his best years are behind him I hope he gets on as a commentator when he retires
First day at Jerez, he was a second faster than everyone on a dirty track, so it looks like the MP4-28 IS extra-amazing. Jenson is an excellent driver, and the races he wins, he wins through pure dominance. Belgium 2012? That wasn't even a challenge for him. And don't tell me Hamilton or Alonso could have challenged him if they hadn't crashed. Jenson was GONE. His pace was untouchable. Getting tired of people saying he has no talent and is just a pretty face. He just needs work on consistency.
I met Jenson at the US Grand Prix in Indianapolis when he was still with BAR Honda. Super nice bloke. My five year old son asked if he was Micheal Shumacher. He laughed and said "I wish I were, sometimes." Pure British gentleman.
this is a continuation of below... also, senna was at the top of his game when schumi got really competitive in the 94 season. in Brazil, in a car that alot of senna fans think had all the assists on (it didnt, only didnt disable launch control)... but was ultimately a lesser car, was clearly quicker than senna. also, schumi was just a baby back then, he improved immeasurably after that and if he was being competitive then, i can only assume how he would compare to senna when schumi was in 2002
Jenson is an amazing guy. he isn't the best but he is still my favourite and my hero. he has a positive attitude that very few other drivers have. anyone should want to be like him. he's a great sportsmen and a great inspiration and hardly or never at all complains if he gets taken out of the race or anything. He races for the fun of it and the joy of driving such a powerful car and doesn't bitch about anything with the car like Vettel and how he hates the sound of the new cars (Stupid twat lol) this year or any other drivers, he just gets on with it. Come on Jenson lets get another championship. If not this year then hopefully next year when Honda come back and you can Kick the Mercedes boys and Red bulls asses.
Vettel needed to finish 7th, Michael let him past and so he finished in 6th but it's not like he would've lost the title if he finished in 7th, behind Michael. Get your facts straight. And if you are unwilling to accept or realize that Button is not at the same level as Alonso, Hamilton and Vettel then there's no point to continue this debate. He had one of the best and definitely the fastest car in 2012 and finished 5th, even without all the bad luck Hamilton had.
No, Kobayashi, Di Resta, and their like are decent drivers. Jenson is a great driver. I just don't think that people give him the credit he deserves as a world driver's champion. Hell, Jenson haters even say he didn't deserve 2009. Bottom line is that Jenson had and still has what it takes to become the WDC. I think he can still do it in 2013. He has the car, and his mid-2012 slump is long gone. He's coming at 2013 with a new focus that I think will leave naysayers amazed. Just you wait.
finally - you are right - the way senna went about racing adds alot to the appeal... he is like hamilton, alonso, lauda, montoya all rolled into one... but ultimately, and probably mainly down to schumis nerve and outright fitness, over a complete race distance and definately over the course of a season, MS was a more complete driver. not as genious as senna, but just could bring it all together. the advantage senna would have would be in qualie.
More like the McLaren MP4-28 is going to have to be extra-amazing for Jenson to win more than 3 races. Even the MP4-27 wasn't enough for him to achieve more than that, and as a contrary to his teammate, he didn't have even close to as much bad luck.
The year Senna won his championship he scored 94 points. Prost scored 105. The difference was that Prost had 3 2nd place finishes and 2 mechanical DNFs that didn't count while Senna had a 4th, 6th, 10th, a crash, and a disqualification. You have to remember that a lot of F1 drivers were children when Senna raced, so the mystique meant a lot. Jackie Stewart (a guy that knows a thing or two about racing) doesn't even list Senna (or Schumacher) in his top 5.
If i may lend my opinion, Jim Clark had about the best win rate (47% I think) not always (but often) in the best car in an era where the driver made more difference.
is it? thank you very much.....thank you for your precious time in commenting to my so called negative voted comment....keep finding faults of people....its good that we have complete people like you.....i wish i had u in a boxing ring....
I have seen several of these speeches by F1 drivers, and they all appear slightly drunk (Vettel!). I think it is because they are in such good physical condition and normally don't drink at all, that only a glass of champagne (or 2) makes them pissed! A bit sweet, actually :-)
Ever the gentleman, Mr Button. Have grown up so much since I first attracted to you in your early years. So impetuous, you were. I love you no matter what :)
Stewart was also very good, but as controversial as that may sound, he's not in my top five. Definitiely in the top 10, but my top 5 is, in that order: Fangio, Clark, Senna, Prost, Schumacher.
Well then we totally missunderstood eachother. Right now, nobody cant really see who is the top 3, but Alonso, Vettel and Hamilton are doing quiiiiite good.
You're on. I'll want to see pictures for proof. Only fair! It's not been Jenson's best year overall and yet he came away with three victories. Next year he'll be on it again, as will McLaren, working to erase what has not been a good spell for this great team. Sharp words will have been exchanged!
Even though I isn't the most talented I think he is the greatest person in the paddock. Even with his best years are behind him I hope he gets on as a commentator when he retires
chase speer I'm with you on that, he's got such a great personality, he is one of my favorite drivers. He could get a job at BBC or Sky.
Welp, your wish came true lol. He's one of, if not the best at the interviews too, as they all know and respect him.
one of those great guys who gets drunk and can't stop smiling
"You were sensational this year."
"Thank you" - silence.
Seb completely owns him about the tie later
jenson is a really down to earth guy, hes a great guy. hes got everything but hes so modest and is a great sportsman.
Such a humble guy... what a legend! Funny and good looking too.

The thumbnail reminds me of James Bond pulling out a pistol

2012 will hopefully be his year!
So far... I STAND VINDICATED!!!!
