That is a beautiful set and routine. Thanks, Rick.
I have the Dai Vernon book. He demonstrates this effect in the book. But, I haven't learned it. But have wanted to. So, glad that you shared this. This is truly a fine piece of magic.
I'm ashamed to say I have never seen the Cone & Ball performed before. That was a heck of a lot of fun. Nice one Rick !
It was new for me too! But it is a lot of fun. I love these old school type of effects.
Very nice routine! Love the props as well.
Why do I like the Cone and Ball effect?
Because it is so old. Like Rick said: "It goes back to the early 1900s. There's something about a period set that I like. A magical moment back from the pass.
The ones that the old masters did that never gets out dated. It plays just as good now as it did in the 1900s.
But this effect can be customized to your style. Rick said it all in his comments what makes this effect so good. When I seen it in Dai's book. I was young and didn't quite know how the handling or the flow went. I understood it now.
Back when I first read it in Dai's book I didn't quite know the presentation. Now some 54 years later, (thanks to Rick,) I see how to present it. I see the flow of it. Now I am going to work on it and put it in my show. Wow, the possibilities you can do with just a cone and ball are many. You can make the ball appear, vanish, jump from cone to your pocket, multiply, incorporate another cone and make the ball teleport from one cone to the other....it can be done as a comedy bit, to music, as a do as I do, (like bottle and tubes,). It can be done as a kids comedy presentation.
You can have a bill/card signed, vanish how you like, (Maybe put in the silk, it changes to the ball. (do some by play with the cone and ball ,) and the ball changes into an egg/ lemon/orange and the object is found inside fruit used or egg etc.
The sky is the limit to routines.
Again, a big thanks , Rick.
Sam, thanks so much for the kind words. Love your thoughts on making this your own. It is something I have truly fallen in love with.
Your words are beautiful.
When I set out to make a Cone and Ball set that is special, I thought of this very thing. For a classic of magic to stay alive in time it must be performed by the new generations. The routines may change due to the new airs of modernity but the essence will remain intact.
Many tricks have been discontinued because the necessary elements are no longer manufactured.
Therefore, my passion and love for this trick awakened my desire to manufacture a set of the quality and magnitude of this incredible trick.
I hope I have succeeded.
I love this set the custom choices provided made this a truly wonder personalized magic order my best magic purchase of the year!
A wonderful performance and review 👍😊👍😊✨️
Looks beautiful can’t wait to see it in the flesh
That’s what you call, a good bit of magic.
cool routine thanks for sharing
I love that! I love close up magic with elegant props like this. Seeing you so excited about this trick was really great to see!
Thanks, Sean! It is definitely rare that I'm inspired to learn a routine outside of my comfort zone just by the props themselves, but this one was so much fun, and the props are really beautiful.
Wow!!!!!!!!
That was incredible Rick! Great performance. I’m sure dai Vernon would have loved watching this.
Those props are so beautiful I want to cry 😅 I actually love these "old-fashioned", classy magic tricks! Great review and performance, I loved this!
By the way, do you know what book those illustrations from the packaging come from? I've seen this trick in The Book of Magic, but it's photographs in that one I think.
I'm not sure. I know the orgins of the trick come from Silent Mora and Burling Hull
@@RickHolcombe Okay, thanks! 😊
@@4suits The illustrations were taken from Vernon's early notes where he published his routine (Chicago, December 1, 1946). Later Lewis Ganson replaced the drawings with photos to write the book.
@@ignaciolopezmagia Thank you so much for letting me know! 🙏 Your product looks so amazing! 👌
SMOOTH routine!
Excellent.
Beeeeuutiful!!
I have been doing the cone and ball for years and I must say that you did it justice. Looks great in your hands!
Great to see someone making high-quality props. Your performance was excellent, too, Rick. Thanks.
Thanks for sharing!
That is the most amazing packaging I have ever seen! I would have to buy two just so as to have one to leave wrapped. 😀
excellent,i am soooo tempted to buy it,love your routine,if i buy it,can you show me your routine, hahahhahaha.Just wondering
That is so freaking neat!!! I love that! 🤩
Wow ! I didn’t know Cone and Ball existed till just now. It reminded me of a Cup & Ball routine. This touches upon Antique Magic bought back to this Era, which I Adore. Mr. Rick your presentation was smooth, thank you for that. Where can I obtain Ignacio’s Email? What is the price ?
All the information is in the description
I just received this from Ignacio. It's truely a gorgeous set but I have small hands and I'm having issues palming the balls. Is there a source for slightly smaller balls? I'm not sure how big they are.
FIRST!
Now I'll watch this great video. Looks like NICE equipment.
Will the free shipping be available for awhile? This would make a nice Christmas gift.
Just email Ignacio, I'm sure he'll be reasonable. He didn't mention a specific timeline.
That packaging definitely screamed quality. I'm a packaging engineer and always like seeing product with great packaging. That's such a killer routine. How long did it take you to get that routine as crisp as it was?
Thanks! I've been studying and practicing for about a month. I've pieced this together from the tutorial and some other resources I found. I didn't practice every single day, but maybe 2 or 3 times a week for an hour at a time, I guess. Maybe around 12 to 15 hours solid practicing and another few hours studying, learning, and putting this specific sequence of moves together.
Something I should have said in the video is I don't think I could have gotten this down as easily as I have if it weren't for coin magic. I believe studying coin magic will cteate the foundations you need to do any magic.
@RickHolcombe it was really impressive. Im such a beginner still but find the practice in coin magic helps my dexterity in other magic genres. I did find some finger exercises in a pen spinning thread that have helped me gain better control over my ring finger which was very stiff. Thanks for the video!
Where can one buy this set?
Look in the description. He is an independent artist, so this is not wholesaled anywhere. Just email him.
Hmmm, heat the house during the winter or have the Cono & Bola set at $200.00? Heating the house wins.
Understandable.. haha!
