Had the privilege of watching 3 of Rhys' five games at the Menza Masquerade VII over the weekend, commentating the live coverage, the 50 combat bodies is an absolutely terrifying force in his hands.
Finally, we are getting closer to the type of AS armies that I like.
I am very happy to see that variety is finally allowed.
Started 40k with building sisters just before 10th came out, saw most sisters players were bummed by the changes but I didn’t care because I love the army so much. But glad to see they can do well in the hands of good players! I aspire to be just that one day
I only got sisters because I wanted celestine and a shooting army. I love the aesthetic and put cutesie anime heads on all of them lol.
It’s my only non chaos army.
I started playing in 7th edition. Everyone told me Tyranids were laughably bad but they looked so cool in the art that i saw that i played them anyway. I lost pretty bad for awhile. But i would slowly lose by less, and less, and less. Eventually i would win here and thetr. Then i was winning consistently, and after that i was one of the hardest to beat players at my game store. A lot of people complain in this game about units being so bad they can’t be used but i don’t agree. Some things are definitely better than others, yes. But this game is like chess. Every piece has a purpose. You just have to figure out what that is and exploit it.
Love to see the variety in these lists! Sad Celestine is nowhere to be seen though.
Honestly probably for the best. Epic heros should be fun pieces to add into a force not mandentory. I'd still love to see a generic living saint unit in the future for sisters akin to the transcendent c'tan.
@@keyanklupacs6333Celestine is the only Epic Hero I’m okay with adding to my lists because she represents something that doesn’t have a generic alternative.
If anything I'd rather have epic heroes be good, at least then you're capped at a max of 1.
That's the way I feel. I hated that for the longest time, DG players had to take Mortarion.
@@keyanklupacs6333 I agree they should not be mandatory, which is why it's great to see so many different epic characters in these list. Like, literally all of them. Except Celestine.
So pleased to see the balance has shifted internally, Making different builds viable. No doubt you need to make absolute optimal use of each unit to do well. I will have to get them on the table and inevitably fail to do that...
For Paragon suits I find a mace on the superior and blades on the rest all with multi-meltas is generally the way to go.
Either melee option is generally quite good at handling even heavy infantry but can certainly struggle against vehicles. Against vehicles the blades struggle to wound and the mace can struggle both to hit (4+) and to actually penetrate armor having only -1 AP, except... Paragon suits have the vehicle keyword and are therefore eligible to tank shock. A S12 melee weapon on a vehicle makes them one of the best tank shock units in the game. If the meltas fail to kill a vehicle outright, a tank shock with mace can finish it.
Morvenn also gives them Re-rolls, so missing isn´t that big of a deal
yeah i agree my friend plays sisters and the tank shock from warsuits keeps my yncarne in check as they can easily deal half her health in one charge
New to 10th edition, what is tank shock?
@@josealfredosanchezordaz6899 Tank shock is a strategem that can be used by any model with the vehicle keyword after making a charge move. To resolve the strategem you pick a melee weapon available to the vehicle and roll a number of D6 equal to the Strength value of that weapon adding an additional two D6 if the Strength is greater than the target's toughness. For each 5+ rolled the target suffers one mortal wound (to a maximum of 6 wounds). So in the case of a Paragon Warsuit armed with a mace that is Strength 12 so 12 D6 base and 14 D6 if the target's toughness is 11 or less looking for up to six 5+ rolls, typically landing 4-6 mortal wounds but generally to the higher end of that range.
S12 for tank shock purposes is really good, even things like Imperial Guard super heavy tanks like Baneblades only have S8, most lighter tanks and transports have S6.
@@janfreitag1633 The re-rolls are certainly helpful, but the mace still misses more than twice as often as the blades. 4+ with re-roll misses 1 in 4 attacks, 3+ with re-roll misses 1 in 9 attacks. This only gets worse once the unit has taken damage and gets +1 to hit as the mace will then miss 1 in 9 and the blades will miss only 1 in 36. Consistent performance in games where dice are a factor relies on minimizing the impact of the specific dice rolls. I take one mace because it has a specific purpose to serve, otherwise consistency is king.
GW please don't nerf sisters into the ground for regular players
If anything is in real danger it’s probably the palantine and the enhancement blade of saint ellanor.
Gods I love seeing them win so much
List 1 is very surprising to me. Its a list similar to what I saw before the update but with Triumph nerfed and around 40 points simply gone. Must've been played very well and with the emperor watching over the dice xD
Can confirm. I play against a simular set of lists every Tuesday with my buddy Rob. (Hey buddy!) His Sisters don't mess around, it's a fantastic army, tons of MSU's, allowing for easy scoring
I'm getting back into 40k after about 10 years. What does MSU mean?

@@captainweekend5276 Thank you.
@@terranaxiomukDamned nerds! So simultaneously smart and not-so-smart.
Not sure why it isnt a standard practice to type the meaning of any and all acronyms the first time so that others can follow along. Afterwards, there is no need to keep writing it out.
There are always new players that would appreciate that attention to detail.
Example: When I take ToSC (Triumph of St. Catherine) I often dominate other players that have never seen what ToSC can do.
I play world eaters, chaos knights, daemons(mostly khorne) and sororitas.
I’m currently waiting for sisters, chaos knights and my daemons to all be nerfed as hard as WE were so I can have an excuse for a 5th army.
Thanks for the review and tactics!
I was unspeakably excited to see this video pop up in my feed. Thank you.
I won an RTT this weekend with infantry spam - you dont need the vehicles.
The sisters need some small adjustments like the triumph/vahl/castigator needing a small pts nerf + repentia maybe a 1ptPM increase
retributors (really need +1S on their multi meltas and some buff to the flamer variant) and paragons need a melee or survivability bonus and something to make death cult assasins worth takeing
And If i was dreaming id love a 25/45/65 pts cost on 2/4/6 crusaders
However they are in a pretty good place they do seem skill heavy though so you are going to get a disproportionate tourney wins vs the avg result
The imagifier in the last list is there more to manipulate dice than generate them, hopefully.
The obvious downside with her generating dice is you have to lose units, it's that litanies of faith enhancement allowing existing dice to be re-rolled that gives her the utility that makes her a strong pick. The 4+ invuln for her unit doesn't hurt either.
AT always referring to repentia as nutters with chainswords never gets old.
Glad they're good competitively, though the flavor of the competitive lists are weird. Vehicle heavy, without much emphasis on power armor with the exception of Jeffrey's list.
It's like Guard but the infantry don't die to a stiff breeze.
To be fair that's pretty lore appropriate, as sisters are basically Scions with miracles and Power armor.
They aren't space marines, they're much closer to guard. I feel like the armies on offer right now are very on point for lore - sisters have always been an army with lots of metal boxes, all the way back to the pewter days
I’m starting to think that these lot did better off back in September that the death guard did
I am glad that people are finally listening to me about repentia being very useful. It just took a point drop for them to come into play
*GW swinging that nerf bat maliciously in your general direction*
@@Darkja lets hope not and that I can convince everyone that sisters are terrible, don't play them
How do I tag Bricky???
He's probably already buying the models listed
I am taking a wierd amalgamation of a Sisters army, which has a combination of many units seens in these lists. Instead of doubling down on stuff, it has a lot of different threats. Repentia in a Rhino, Retrtibutors in an Immolator, Vahlagons, Celestine and her Seraphim, Daemonifuge and 3 arcos for objectives, Ellynor Palatine, the Coffin Dance, all the stuff. I hate arco-flagellant spam, so I ain´t doing that. But how about 30 melta/multi-melta shots per turn? That´s fun
Can you use multiple miracle dice at once on a single unit? Played against sisters player that used 6 miracle dice to automatically land 6 multi melta hits from the same infantry unit? I always that it was 1 dice per unit per phase? He didnt have that triumph model either.
Nope, the maximum number of miracle dice you can use on a unit is 1 normally, 2 with the Triumph of Saint Katherine
Quick nerf all their unit abilities and raise their points by 50%. This is where we come to make those comments right?
Where do you check competitive lists? Thank u!

I'm confused about that second list. Who is the Palatine joining? I'm guessing Junith joins the Battle Sisters, the squad gets split in half by an Immolator, and she sits on the home objective with the boring half while the meltas go in the transport.
Because the Immolator has a "Start of declare battle formation" you can split the squad, and attach (likely 5 boring as you said) to Junith, and the other 5 to Palatine in the Immolator.
Its because of the "Start of the declare battle..." you can do this. So the split is done before attaching leaders.
@@MrRoarkinOh! That's interesting. I didn't realise the squad gets split BEFORE the characters are attached.
As a long time Sisters player it's a tiny bit worrying to see this given that it usually means the nerf bat is coming- it's important to remember that these lists still need to be played well. It's still a bit unfortunate that Vahl is basically required to use the Warsuits, I'd prefer to see her re-roll ability added to the suits themselves as an ability that costs a Miracle Dice, with Vahl then making it free to use. I'm also a little surprised to see no Dialogus in any of these lists, I find she's very useful with Retributors to allow them to get an auto 6 to wound. One other thing that really hurts sisters in terms of build variety is the very strict rules on which characters can attach to which squads, compared to say Marines who seem to be able to attach anyone to anything. In particular, most of the small support characters with the rule allowing them to attach to a squad which already has a character can only do so with Battle Sisters, which shuts down a lot of potential combos.
Yeah, that lack of being able to pair junior leaders with senior leaders like space marines can is a let down. For example, an imagifier can give celestian sacresants a 2+ armor save, but sacresants want to be lead by a canoness, palantine, or Junith for -1 to be wounded. You can't get both with the rules as they are currently written.
Honestly the reroll ability shouldn't even need a miracle dice to activate, it should just be their standard ability, maybe limited to against vehicles and monsters if you take melta, or infantry and mounted if you take heavy bolters or flamers, considering a unit like eradicators can get full rerolls including damage as their standard datasheet ability with the same limitation. Honestly a big issues with the sisters index is that most datasheet abilities just suck compared to other armies.
I find it's the assassinate fixed objective that limits me takeing the smaller characters triumph/junith/demonifuge are too good for me to play without
i"ll "do my part" to lower the winrate then. I can't deny that they are strong but my, they are hard to play.
The Emperor is pleased
0:43 ...I dunno, I love Castigators and Arcoflaggelts.
I just want my dominion squads to be playable again.
Oh and please let heavy flamer retributors actually be good.
Sororitas are the best!
This isn't helping me focus on painting my DG and constantly thinking about Sisters becoming my second army.
It's nice to see that external balance, the balance between the factions, has gotten a lot better. Internal balance still needs some (or a lot) of work.
Remember when everyone claimed Sisters of Battle were the worst faction in the game? I remember
Seems Celestine needs a buff, she’s an iconic unit for the Sisters.
Sisters have been strong all edition if you didn't play the "cookie cutter" BR. IMO the most boring way to play Sisters. If I want choppy army in power armor I will play Blood Angels.
My fear is that BR will be the "best" way to play them when codex comes out this summer.
