This is to this day one of the best horror ambience tracks. The atmosphere is thick and it gives me always a very unpleasedn feeling.
I REALLY love that you included the prerendered backgrounds. They are in good quaility and look kinda handdrawn. I think they aren't.
These were AI upscaled by re2shade team. Sure there are few artifacts, but I think it's still better than 320x240 original resolution :)

I believe Capcom actually used 3D models to initially set up the rooms, then took screenshots of the 3d rendered room and used them as the pre rendered backgrounds. I read an article a LONG time ago that said that technique was what inspired the dev team of code Veronica to make the game fully 3D rather than pre rendered because they could just have the games environments in 3D rather than add the extra steps of converting them into pictures.

Funny thing is, these original games have aged much better than Code Veronica, at least in my opinion. When you don't go for real 3D but still images, it looks classy as hell and it doesn't age, since it's not based on some 3D engine that ages with technology.

Probably the best horror music in a video game. I remember hating the second floor when this game came out i was 10 and it terrified me every time I watched my older brothers playing it. But at the same time I absolutely loved it. Great video thanks for uploading it
The 2nd floor music is by far the most terrifying and unsettling.
As much as i like RE1 and RE3, Resident Evil 2 is the best of the classic ones.

The only thing more unsettling than this music... is when it gets silent. And you can hear the character's footsteps so loudly. I'm sitting there waiting, like "okay...where is it? When is it? Don't get startled, don't jump, don't-AAAAGGHHH!!!" *fires shotgun blasts repeatedly*
1:15 That damed little section. The ironic beauty of that harpsichord stroke between the oscillating tones of bleak horror music. Cosmic doom. The universe is laughing at your fear. What a cruel joke to add in this game.
This is why this game is so special to me. Technical limitations be dammed. They found terrors where we now see laughable camp horror. The graphics may have changed. But, other than Alien Isolation. No other game has been able to get into my head and terrify me like this.
This is what happens when parents play favoritism.
Try to listen to this in a dark room while trying to go to sleep .... I dare you....

STARS office was on 1st floor not 2nd

@@cr4yv3n Doubling down on being wrong, eh? In the USA, the bottom floor, the one on the ground, is called the First Floor. When you go up a flight of stairs to the floor above, you reach the Second Floor. The STARS office is on the *Second* Floor of the Police Station. It even says so in the damn game.
Wtf men? If you don't remember, there is in the next door when you go up the stairs, at the left side IN THE SECOND FLOOR XD

You go from the long corridor eith the developing room one flight of stairs ( the L shaped one). Then down the narrow hallway at the end of which the two statues puzzle resides.
Go through the door and on the left.
