  • First video featuring my new-to-me R1150GS Adventure! Not a heavily edited video, just a nice evening ride exploring the features, characteristics and quirks of the bike.
The F650GS I had has now been sold -- it was a great bike, but was really a stepping stone to something bigger. My R1250GSA test ride a few weeks ago really confirmed my thoughts that a larger GS would be a good bike for me, but I certainly don't have £25k to spend on one!
Stay tuned for many more videos featuring the R1150GSA, I have plenty of things I want to do with it!
    Cheers,
    Alex

You can’t beat the iconic 1150 for simplicity and affordability. It’s still the best for this reason in my opinion, especially if you’re planning to actually ride it around the world.

the r1100 and r1150 are indeed very well designed engines, somewhat directly derived from the BMW R 75 made in 1939 but with overhead camshafts.
wiki: The BMW R75 stands out by its integral two-wheel drive design, with drive shafts to both its rear wheel and the third side-car wheel, from a locking differential, as well as a transfer case offering both road and off-road gear ratios, through which all four and reverse gears worked.

Dammit, it's like you're in my head Alex! I was lusting after a 650GS and then I saw an 1150GS going for peanuts online so I searched for reviews. And now you are up to date on my life. Nice video, sir!

Unmistakable Bristol, knew it after the first few seconds of the video. Bristol lad meself, now exiled with my 1150 GSA in Taiwan, good vid!.

Snap! I just bought one too, and my other bike is a Pegaso 650. Your screen seems nice and stable - mine wobbles as I ride. Lovely countryside, we drove down that way last summer for a small holiday in Cheddar. Happy biking!

Those sat abs are the way to go I think, I'll be getting one . Mind you screen looks a bit blurry, I hope they are all not that blurry ;)

You should look at GAIA GPS for “navigation” - it’s more of a “map” view as you described - and you can run it on your old spare phone and it doesn’t require wireless service to work. Also , I love the bike. I’m looking for an 1150 GSA for more long distance travel myself.

That sounds pretty good actually! I'm using a Garmin XT at the moment which is pretty decent, and I really like the track recording function for recording green lanes/tracks of interest to return to later

@@TittertonRacing Gaia let’s you record your ride as well and gives you interesting stats. And your account syncs to the cloud service and you can view and create GPX tracks on the web browser version of maps.

i have an r1150 gs too and the starting issue with the clock was a Bad starter Motor.. which is easy to replace but rather expensive.
it could be a weak battery as well.
however if it is the starter like in my case you need to sort it out since it will get you completely stranded very soon.
In my case it grilled a new battery at one point and you could not even jump start it any more since there was no more ignition at all.
    take care !

Yep absolutely! After I posted the video I took a chance on a new £60 starter motor, and it’s been perfect ever since (touch wood!)

Many thanks for this video. I just got the same bike and I had to park it down for a while now… only to find out u had the same issue. I have the same exact starting issues. And I have changed batteries 3 times and still no solution. Now, reading this, I know to change the starter motor.
Can u help with the link to where u purchased your starter motor.?
      Many thanks

Furst off - love your videos, keep it up! Just wanted to ask how tall you are? Currently considering the newer F650GS (with the 800 twin) or this bike.

    • @TittertonRacing
      @TittertonRacing  Před rokem

Thanks, that means a lot! I’m about 190cm tall - the newer F650GS Twin is probably a good size for me, but my old F650 single was a little small leg-wise. Ryan from FortNine rides an 800 twin and he’s a little taller than me… I met him a few weeks ago at an adventure bike festival - video coming soon if I can actually sit down and edit it properly!

Hi - glad to hear it’s serving you well! How’s he getting on with the 1200? I liked the 650, but I’m finding the 1150 a bit more rideable when loaded up with a passenger etc 🙂
