When I wanted a bike to get out and tour on with a budget of not much at all, there was one ONE option.. the OG of modern adventure bikes, a GS!
So here's a little ride out where I explain what I've bought and why.

I’ve got a 1999 R1100S in Mandarin.
I’ve just picked up a 1999 R1150GS in Mandarin.
What can I say, I like things to match.

Great video & a great bike! I went from the BMW GS800 PD Classic to a GS 1100, and finally to a GS 1150 Adventure (brand new in 2004), and haven't looked back! What a great bike it is! As I'm now 64, it's more than enough bike for me! I rode the newer lighter models, but thankfully, never got rid of my trusty GSA. It's an awesome bike that I use mainly for touring, where it excels! Thanks again for a great video, and greetings from South Africa! 👍😉

Love the tank on this adv models. Got myself an 03 recently and modded it to a so called "Retro-Rally" machine. Wish I could share some pictures. The best bike ever ❤

Never had the adventure but I had the standard 1150gs a few years ago but had to sell 😢 and sice then iv yearned for another and ended up getting a very tatty with a few problems a standard 1150gs again, been sorting all the problems leaving it looking tatty as it looks like it’s been on the long way round twice haha.
You’ll never get rid of big sexy there brill, well done.
I agree.. with a bike like this looks are secondary to it being an absolutely brilliant long day machine! I love it

Got an 02 six years ago.. sold it. Same sentiments, u will yearn more for this beast. Bought an 03 last year 😅
I got the 850gs and a r850r that i use for the city solid bikes 😊

I've got a silver/red 1150 adv and love it but always thought the black/yellow colour combo like yours looks great, lovely bike.
Had mine 3 years and never get bored of riding it.
I know what you mean about not wanting to take the big beast off road but I took mine off roading a few years ago for 2 days with the KTM riding school in Sweetlamb Wales and was amazed how capable the bike was on the trails. I was shi**ing myself leading up to it but after some good tuition and fitting some knobblies the bike was in its element.

Just down the road mate in Alfreton 🙌🏻 I love it.. can’t believe how good it is to be honest. I thought it would be a pig but i come back with a huge smile every time I get out on it. Ride safe mate
Hey mate great vid! One question though. I love the old bike aesthetics but I've ridden a few 20 year old bikes in the recent past and all felt kinda dangerous tbh. Is this the case with your bike? Do you feel like you can brake hard for an emergency or push her in the twisties without being afraid you're going out in the fields? All in all is it a purchase you'd suggest to someone in 2024?

The 1150GSA has oddly returned to my radar after 20 years. I wouldn’t lay bets on my not getting one. Such is the way.
