- Cat left a dead mouse in grass and bald eagle obviously saw it and wanted it. The camera shot is from a 3.6mm wide angle Dahua 102 feet away. I cropped the video down to make it more visible but obviously lower quality due to the tight crop.

Best comment yet!
It was the IRS. lol
I was wondering why the eagle chose that yard and why was he there? He came to collect! That explains it! 😆
Great Bird. Didn't know where video was going but was hoping the eagle survived first and foremost.
His name is Deebo
Eagle tried to disguise himself walking up like a duck 🦆
Don't think they can walk any other way.
Damn sure did..
🤣🤣…the cat thought the eagle was a duck, the eagle thought the cat was a squirrel 🥴
@ 1:47 , I don't remember ever seeing any kind of eagle walking on the ground like this ...Is it injured ? -- seems OK ...Do these two "know" each other ? Guess I need to watch the rest of it...
Seems like the old adage should be reworked: If it looks like a duck and walks like a duck, it just might be a freaking EAGLE! 🦅P.S. It would be pretty cool if the eagle could let out a quack or two.

Lol yeah that eagle was extra slick.
As soon as the cat saw that Eagle’s huge wingspan…..I’m outta here
Yep, huge wingspan and an excellent vertical leap. Must have been a Boston College Eagle.
...the cat knew it wasn't that serious...and that there are plenty of mice to go around!!! The eagle was being a bully...the right female/ momma cat would have taught the eagle a thing or two about dominion...
Cat was like... Yeah, I'm not too hungry, you can have it
It was hard to see,but the cat had a mouse and the eagle stole it.
Yep
I saw that too..
yeah size matters...
Good eye. I missed it
wow ok. Smart bird.
The poor cat would probably put up a fight but the eagle would just simply destroy the cat.
No. The eagles strength is its element of surprise coming from above and striking without notice. In this case the eagle may have won but it would have received several razor sharp claw blows from the cat possibly to its eye which would be be devastating to the eagle.
@@christianWilliams-pc4jn what a bunch of baloney.
@@NemeanLion- he is right tho foxes hunt eagles sometimes when they are in the ground and if the cat can fight back a fox it can do it to each other

RIGHT?!
My neighbor lost a chicken to a hawk. Even here in Vegas, raptors, coyotes and even big cats can still make a meal of small pets.
That cat was intelligent enough to realize that a "claw" war wasn't going to end well.
There's no mutual respect here. This is: I'm taking your food and you won't do anything about it.
The cat lost in brain war. Bird blood does not clot so well. Would have won claw war. Brain not so much.
Bird was lucky cat didn't have a 120-lb rotweiler in reserve. Eagles have ferocious claws that can severely injure even a large dog, but a large dog has massive bite-force jaws that end eagle lives with a single bite. Then cat gets to eat the bird. If the dog leaves any for it, that is.

If only humans could understand risk management as well as that cat.
I almost lost my cat to an eagle night before last. My husband was out making sure all the tools got put away. As he came around the corner of the house, he saw our little 8 lb. cat and picked her up. He said he heard a noise above him and there was an eagle pulling up about 10' above him. Now I'm scared to let her out without supervision. I have seen them circling the sky's of our neighborhood every summer but, that was too close.
yeah no doubt small cats are definitely prey like any smaller animal. small dogs too. We lost our pet rabbit to one had it for 5 years. it had no chance never saw it coming. its nature doing its thing. need to be careful because size matters.
Yes that is why I won't get a little dog either! I've seen collars and harnesses that one can purchase that are full of spikes making it almost impossible for an eagle or owl to grab them. But not sure how full proof that is.
Cats are not typically prey for eagles. They can’t carry that weight. A rabbit is a lot lighter. I let my cats outside and we have lots of eagles around us. It’s when I see a Great a horned owl that I panick. Only saw one once beside my back door. Took the dogs for a walk around the property and it flew off. Cats are smart. They generally stick to the trees to go anywhere. They do follow me in the field or down the road but there’s always several big dogs around to protect them, but there has never been a need to.
@@hollymourant9268 It depends on how hungry they are really. An eagle getting lots of fish won't bother with a cat. If they are hungry they will take what they can get. Friday is a little 8 lb. I've seen eagles catch salmon bigger than her.
My Ranger boy i don't worry about much. He's about 20lb. and a semi liquid. I can barely get him off the ground.
Your cat should not be out at all, any more than a dog!!!!
This was gd. That cat slowly began to understand that maybe he is the hunted.
Must be a juvenile bald eagle, when I was in Juneau, Alaska I saw really large eagles roosting together when visiting a totem pole center. Didn't see any cats hanging out around there.
Juveniles are brown and spotted
If it was Mom and Dad would be close by anyway
It is just a very over confident cat
@@flyrc100 Thanks. Saved me the trouble.
@Linda Guthrie That was my thought, too. The fact that he's after carrion in summer is odd. But then we humans have destroyed so much of their natural habitat that they may have no other choice.
no. Juveniles don't have the white head. it takes about 5 years for it become fully white like this one. Beautiful bird I can certainly understand why it was chosen as our national symbol. my favorite bird in this country though is the sand hill crane and in the entire world? The Albatross. yep to each their own, huh? The sand hill and Albatross both mate for life. what about the bald eagle? yep they typically mate for life as well. most bird species in fact are monogamous. we should take some lessons from them!

That eagle could have got that cat at any time.
🤔
maybe
I'm not so sure about that. It may have won the fight being that it has bigger sharper claws (talons)... However that would have been risking serious injury One swipe from a cat's razor sharp claws to its eyes would have been very bad for the eagle.
@@christianWilliams-pc4jn Eagles rarely attack cats as they weigh (5 to 8 lbs.) more than half the eagle's weight (9-14 lbs.) on average.
You have no idea how fast a cat is. Or how slow a large raptor is when it's on flat ground instead of flying. The cat is much . . . not a little . . . MUCH faster than a large raptor that is walking about on land.
I love watching the eagle strut on the lawn! I have a 3 lb dog I could never leave him outside
If there was a bird with talons that also happens to be the size of lions, I don’t think a solo lion would f*ck with it.
Frankly, I wouldn’t give the cat much of a chance against a bald eagle. Cats are used to small birds like sparrows and robins but this is a whole different ballgame and the cat knows it. Marvelous video.
Cats are hard wired to be terrified of large flying things, it's obviously a big part of their evolutionary background to be preyed upon from raptors and continues to this day.
That beak and the talons 😳 yikes
Yeah it's like karma for all the little birds it has terrorized
That cat would win in the actual fight though
@@kmlumd44 Or the reverse, right? (nonsensical use of karma)
Smart move by the cat!!! The eagle would have taken it away. Stronger beak and claws. The law of the strongest.
An eagle in general can only carry 3-4 lbs., more if it's going 20 mph and swoops down. This eagle is mature and knows better than to pick up that cat. Instead he uses the hop/let me show you my wings to scare cat off.
Stronger beak and claws? Well yeah as the cat doesn't have a beak. smh

Bald eagles can take down mountain goats with one swoop. He was amusing himself.
Mountain goats are not perfect war machines like cats.

Bald eagle was essentially stealing the cats plaything(mouse). The cat was being territorial but not being driven by hunger did not know what to make of the encroaching eagle.
In nature you always go for the easiest way to sustain yourself. The cat more than likely has a food dish inside and the eagle went for the mouse.

The Cat, .."You're not taking my seat"..The Eagle, "Ohh yes I am"! 😄
The eagle probably saw the cat catching a little bird. And was like try something punk lol
When I lived in Alaska in the Air Force, I cautioned our new neighbor (a Captain and his wife who had recently arrived from the lower 48, and had a family cat) about the many Bald and Golden Eagles in the area. To which the Captain's wife said "Well, we try not to let our cat out too much because she has a habit of catching and killing birds" She had no clue who was facing the danger there, or how big and dangerous Eagles are to cats and small dogs.
But the Eagle in this vid was just being nosy, looking for an easy meal, like table scraps or garbage thrown out the door. Alot of the more 'domesticated' Eagles hang out around human populations, and become beggars and opportunists who snatch all kinds of crap. Youre not supposed to feed them, but lots of people do anyway.

Poor cat he was just sat there minding his own business. In the wild even cats are prey
In the human neighborhood, even eagles are prey. Which is why we have to be careful not to make wild species go extinct as an accidental consequence of our behavior. Yes, humans are so powerful that even our unintentional acts make powerful species go extinct. And if we actually TRY to end another species, it doesn't have a chance. Eagles included.

Great video of a very smart and crafty cat and an equally smart and crafty eagle.
The cat at the end fakes an attack then runs to safety or a safe enough space that the Eagle didn't want to pursue. The cat though left himself out to be attacked for a long time before that. Eagles will attack and eat small cats or kittens. It was a very close call. Nerve racking video.
Cat was not in danger. Eagles kill cats by swooping down from the sky, not walking up to them on the ground. Cat is too quick and nimble on the ground H2H.
How was the cat 'smart and craft'? It didn't know what to do but like a dumb cat had to start a fight and put itself in danger and then run away as soon as the other animal didn't back down.

Instinctively, animals look at each other as predator and prey. This is one of those instances where neither knows if they can take on the other, so it always turns into a stare down with each of them running from each other.
