'Erik ten Hag's future depends on how SEASON FINISHES! We need him to WIN FA CUP!' | Rio Ferdinand

  • Former Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand says Erik ten Hag's future with the club "depends" on how the season finishes.
Following a disappointing season and nearly an embarrassing exit to Championship side Coventry in the FA Cup semi-final on Sunday, speculation over the 54-year-old's tenure as manager has been prevalent as new minority stakeholder Sir Jim Ratcliffe and INEOS are rumoured to be looking at options to replace the Dutchman.
With five Premier League fixtures remaining, The Red Devils are sixth in the table and are unlikely to finish any higher, but are being chased by Newcastle United, West Ham United and Chelsea below.
United still have the opportunity to finish the season on a high when they face local rivals Manchester City in a repeat of last year's FA Cup final (which City won 2-1) at Wembley on 25th May.
Ferdinand suggests winning the cup could be the only way ten Hag remains as boss, which would be his second trophy since joining the club in the summer of 2022, and would also guarantee a spot in next season's UEFA Europa League.
Ferdinand was speaking at an event hosted by "revolutionary social media platform" WeAre8.
Together they launched Blow The Whistle on Wednesday in London - a campaign to "raise awareness about the continued prevalence of racial abuse in football and its profound impact on players, fans, communities, and the sport as a whole, from the England team to local grassroots clubs. It will empower the world to stand together in a safe social home and say no to racism."
"With WeAre8’s unique application of validated identity and recognition / AI infrastructure, players, fans and families now have a safe social alternative where anonymous accounts are not accepted and directed hate isn’t tolerated. With the tech framework in place, players and fans can feel free to express their biggest selves without fear of negativity and abuse. "
"And through WeAre8’s centralised wallet, people can pay their earnings from watching ads forward to communities they care about. This campaign is backing Common Goal’s ‘Anti-Racist Project’ - which supports training, community competitions and advocacy projects aimed at combating racism in football."

Tenhach prioritizes teamwork, but players are individualistic. Manchester United, the current team that will not be united even if Sir Ferguson comes back. The players' mentality is the problem. Fans of Manchester United will know that. The leaders who want to replace Tenhach and appoint Tuchel are out of their minds.

These ex Manchester United players are part of the problem. They are always all over talking about the Manager this Manager that but they know it's players that are sabotaging Erik ten Hag. Just like they sabotaged Ralf Rangnick, Ole Gunnar Solksjaer and Jose Mourinho.
They protect the British lads the likes of Rashford, Maguire, Johnny Evans etc but will attack people like Bruno Fernandes, Dalot etc. Manchester United under INEOS need to clear most of these players.

    ❌️Maguire
    ❌️Varane

    • @sighfly2928
      @sighfly2928 Před 18 dny +2

Great point. I also did a little digging into United’s wage structure and it was all started by Ed Woodward putting 18 y/o Martial on 200k a week. That set the bar/president for high wages, especially among younger players. If you look at Rashford’s ROI based just on his goals/assists to salary ratio, he costs the club something like 650k per goal and 1.1mil per assist over this season. Martial’s is even worse, as you would imagine. Until United start paying players appropriately based solely on performance and nothing to do with the commercial side of things, there will forever be dressing room tension and a lack of squad cohesion. United have one of the worst goal/assist ROI to salary ratio of any major European team.

Most of these players you listed will be leaving anyway. The ex players can't avoid constantly being asked about Man Utd, I thought Rio was very respectful. I don't know why some people always make it about "British players.

I use it every day and there's no Manchester United match I watch before I watch the press conference of both Managers kn tour channel. Same goes for post match conferences. I like your quality and simplicity.
Now on the players we don't know most of them are leaving until they do. Some thought Mourinho would clear the dead wood but these players survived Manager after Manager. Some have come in recently and have contracts so without buyers we'll be stuck with them unless the club pays a lot of money to terminate their contracts which is difficult.
On English players it's because of the bias. They are favored in Manchester United. Maguire, Shaw and Rashford wouldn't last as long as they have in Arsenal. Or City. Look at how Phil Jones managed to stay for so long without playing. The poor performance of English players is downplayed as foreign players are targeted. By the club hierarchy, by the media and by pundits and some supporters.

Hopefully this season was just things getting worse before they get better, it’s becoming clearer which players the team should be built around and which need to be moved on. I back the big, tough decisions eth has had to make. Obviously toxic players have been shipped off now it’s a matter of weeding out players who are good but don’t bleed Manchester red. The manager should remain, though if we’re nowhere near at Christmas he won’t have much support
