    How to do this exercise:
Lie down on your bed or the floor, or sit back in a comfortable chair, this exercise is best on an empty stomach, have a sip of water and take some gentle breaths first through the nose to warm up.
This exercise is best done when breathing in through the nose and out through the nose.
The breath noises are just an anchor and guide, go at your own pace and don’t push yourself too much.
To get the most from this type of breathing, ensure that the other 99.00% of your time during your day you are nasal (nose) breathing - even during physical exercise.
After this exercise, take enough time with nasal breathing to relax and get back to a calm level.

Although I respect Wim Hof greatly and do cold showers often, I find his breathing method doesn't suit me, it's very anxiety-provoking in my body.
But this is virtually doing the same thing but in a gentler way - been doing this for a while and after emptying my lungs, managed 2-3 mins simply not breathing. Bizarre. Feels almost out-of-body!! Gives me a sense of homeostasis. Thank you so much for this.

I am a physical therapist that has been personally doing Wim Hof Method breathing for a year and a half. It has truly helped my lupus but I don’t do it exactly the way Wim does because there are more physiological benefits with nose breathing. This is a very good video that I will share with my patients that are able to do this kind of breath work. Again, this retention phase does increase blood pressure so talk to your doctor before starting this kind of breath work. It is contra-indicated if you’ve had a stroke, heart attack or epilepsy. These techniques are precautionary if you have high blood pressure. Talk to your healthcare provider before initiating a program like this.

  • @fromdecatur

I did this one tonight. I felt like I really settled into it. The first round felt like some effort, finding the rhythm, breathing deep enough, the long hold being too long for me, and then it all just started to flow and kept on doing so. I haven't done this breathing rythm before. I don't think it would translate well to exhaling through the mouth. Thank you for making it. Breathwork is very interesting, though I try to remember the main message from one of my meditation teachers--learning is great, but the point is to meditate, not accumulate techniques and theories.

I've been wondering why the WHM doesn't take in air through the nose and out through the nose especially when there is new studies suggesting that you can deliver more oxygen throughout the body through nasal breathing. however when you do this approach, holding your breathe is much harder than wims approach, 2 to 2:30 mins holds. either way fascinating stuff. and whatever approach may be best, we're all in the right passage ;)

This recently became my fav video for breathing meditation. I usually exhale through the mouse coz it feels... Nicer? Otherwise my nose gets too cold (?) Also, i have a question: when I breath out, i can hold my breath more properly and longer if i DON'T breathe out until my lungs are completely empty. Also, if i breathe out completely, i feel nervous. Is it a matter of training myself to leave the lungs empty or is it ok to breathe out and hold just little air??? Thanks for sharing so useful stuff. I'll check the rest of the videos too!

Very similar to wim Hoff method. Tried this few times just can't seem to hold breath as long. The two in four out doesn't initially feel I'm retaining as much oxygen. Wims method seems it may be better for say, expanding breath holds whilst diving or submerging in water. I've slight high blood pressure so holding breath for say up to a min may be all I really need for my hold "fix" either way still get some benefits....last few months I've never breathed as much. Lol
