I just got one of these. Beautiful blade. Have you noticed if some of the wood dust color got on your blade inside the Saya? Mine came oiled. I took the plastic off and wipe some of the excess oil off but left some on it as well. A week later i checked it again and wiped it down and noticed brown or rust color on the cloth. I kept wiping and it was coming off the whole blade. I couldnt tell if it was rust? Or wood dust from inside the Saya sticking to it because of the oil on the blade. Have you noticed this with yours? I cleaned it off and oiled it again.
The scabbard is nice but after constant use it will not hold the blade in. It will loosen. The temper on the blade is amazing for A $125 blade I test bent mine and it comes back to zero every time. I love it.
Hi, is the factory angle 45 degrees also on this sword? I reprofiled mine to 22,5 DPS. Video link: czcams.com/video/opEtGB1M1p8/video.html Honshu Boshins feel great starter swords for learning about swords in general. If one does not like something about them, it's possible to disassemble/reprofile it and lessen the issue. Based on my wakizashi the weakest point of Honshu Boshins is the handle. During strong swings the rubber in the handle kinda moves and it feels like some part of the handle/guard is loose against the tang. A millisecond later it's fine again. This has happened to me like 30+ times already.
I've bought the damascus version of this sword. It had a horribly dull edge, like 50° or something like that. Also the blade was quite thick, which means, in order to make it work, i would have needed to grinde the secondary edge quite close to the primary edge, to make it cut properly. This blade would be much better suited for a rapier kind of sword, which is not supposed to be a good cutter in the first place. I ended up sending it back, cause i didn'd want to deal with such a huge amount of regrinding the blade and afterwards having to reetch it. Later i tried my Luck with the "war sword". It also came with an horrible secondary bevel on it, which i changed to a more shallow convex grind. Other than that i had no issues with this particular blade. Idk if you noticed that yet, but United Cutlery likes to make one big Mistake with their tangs. They transition them into the blade with a 90° angle, which means that pressure concentrates in that area, when high amounts of force are applied to the sword, which again means that the handle is gonna break off much more easily compared to a rounded transition.
Truthfully you want the Koi gucci on the saya to be fairly snug. i have the katana and to be honest its a little loose but its an easy fix with just a thin sliver of wood and glue
every cut you make (especially downward) is always towards your lead leg and it scares me every time
First time I’ve seen you guys review a Honshu product
First one !
Nice
Good sword. Do you know when the ZGB Gladius will be available again?

Nice blade!
Thanks 👍
How to price pro
I have one. Really nice for the price.
Agreed!
If the blade was black I'd be tempted to buy it off you
So what type of sword is this, is it a type of katana?
Wakizashi
No more tatami mats? Really? I just bought some from another site and got them....
This sword, out of factory, is just too dull to cut anything but cart board and fruit...
🧐Sir...
With that beard and haircut you're starting to look a little bit like Elijah Wood 😜😂
*Should review a Sting replica before shaving lol

Your Sister wants her pants back
Not a good sword. Mine snapped on a 1/4'' piece of plywood. Windlass makes superior swords Or Angus Trim swords. Slan ☘
User error...Wasn't a clean cut. Work on your Technique.
@@snatcher420 no, bad tempering, shity design, and it was a lite chop, not a cut. In fact, first sword to break on me in thirty years. Slan ☘
