The Kopis of the Ancient Greeks was powerfully optimized for chopping and hacking with its elongated Khukuri-like blade and Honshu has fully updated this venerable Greek sword with modern materials and optimized tactical design with the Honshu Spartan Sword. The blade is crafted from practical 7Cr13 Stainless Steel which is both tempered and polished to a satin finish. The guard is stainless steel and the ergonomic grip is formed from thermoplastic rubber for a solid and sure no-slip grip.
The sword is matched with a durable sheath of stitched synthetic leather with buttoned retaining straps and a belt loop for easy wear.

I purchased this weapon, some time ago. I loved the ergonomics and design of the thing in photos. Owning it, however, is a little different story: First of all, it is practically impossible to fast-draw from its scabbard, due to the blade and scabbard design. Secondly, if you notice, the sword most resembles a Greek kopis, however, it is missing the "hook" that encloses the hand toward the butt of the handle. Aesthetically, that is fine. Unfortunately, it also makes this weapon rather dangerous to use, as it is easy to imagine it slipping out of your hand accidentally while swinging. (I was able to largely remedy this by attaching a paracord lanyard and running it through the otherwise nonsensical holes on the blade.) Lastly, I've seen destructive testing on this guy and the blade seems prone to snap under stress (e.g., chopping 2"x4"'s). Bottom line: The thing looks cool. It's relatively inexpensive. But it would probably be the last sword I would grab in a real fight. But please don't take that as any disrespect to Kult of Athena! They are the best, and any time I've purchased a sword from another outlet, I've regretted it.

I like how you say where its from. Also good job on edge alignment in that cut test.

Ordered this sword in Damascus. It's advertised as razor sharp and phenomenally sharp. Out of the bos, I've had butter knives with a better edge. Now I have to reprofile, sharpen and etch the Damascus again to give it a proper edge.

I'm new to knives and swords. I'm looking for a good quality replica of the Spartan sword from the movie 300. Although, this sword would not be a replica, I watched the video anyway. You did a nice job of reviewing this sword. I picked up on something that I wasn't aware of. You said stainless steel is not good for any hard impact (2:41). I intend to use the blade as a machete to chop through vegetation including small branches. I know I could/should just buy a machete, but I like the look of the Spartan sword. Do you have any recommendations of the steel for what I'll be using it for?

Did it come that sharp out the box or did you sharpen it?

When we think stainless steel it’s usually only a sword good for display.
But as we see here some grades of stainless steel do make good swords if tempered properly.

Nope, do some CZcams video searches. These Honsu spartan swords, all of them have false full tang.

Tang in this isn't full at all, bought three different versions. Y'all need to remove them from your site, love you site. It's just Honsu is cheap and not very durable.

I haven't used this Honshu "Spartan" sword, but the Honshu Karito Axe is pretty good. I chopped at a Christmas tree with it and it held an edge better than the hardware axe I also used on the same tree

@@MegaKnight2012 it's hard to mess up an axe tbf. I have a really nice one the Amish commissioned for me in Michigan. Had it for about 9 years and still hasn't lost it's edge. I have a wood stove for winter and chop all my wood that get delivered most the time.
