Hi Rez! Love how you structure and explain your videos. Its a big plus that your camera angles and editing are really good too! Would love to know more about your process as a Filipino moving to Germany. Thats one of my goals for 2022!

Hi Jasper, thank you :) perhaps I can make a summary of the processes. Happy new year!

Hey Rez! Nice video! For Data Analysis which thing you think it's the best one to MASTER? the Python/Pandas side or the Data Visualization/PowerBI/Tableau? I'm on the customer support business and I'm pretty confident on my business knowledge, so I'm thinking of improving one of those two skills or maybe my statistical skills.

Hi @Alexis Santos, For Data analysis I would say improve your Database skills and the data visualization/PowerBi/Tableau. As well as the statistical skills. :)

Hi, I am now studying Data Engineering and Analytics at TUM but the curriculum is way more worse than I thought and it seems like there would not much I could gain from the curriculum but I need a masters degree so I am kind of thinking to change the university to another. The first candidate is LMU as it has comparably way better curriculum but as you are working in the industry, I wonder in which university you studied in Germany and would like to get some inspiration from you.
My curriculum is too focused on theoretical aspect and most of the courses are not well structured so I am getting too skeptical of what I am doing these days..
Thank you for all the videos and the more I watch the videos, the more doubts I get about if I am studying at the right university.

Hi @Jaeyeop Chung, I understand your pain. I don't know what topics are included in your University's curriculum but I understand that most UNI are focused on the theoretical part. I studied in Frankfurt School of Finance and Management, most of the things taught there are also theoretical ( example: mathematics behind machine learning, mathematics behind deep learning, lab activity which included coding but we were not taught about deployment, model monitoring in the cloud, etc. that are important when you really work in real jobs)
but what I liked about it is that it has 3 day model which allows you to really work in industries (3 days) per week throughout your study and have your real experience there. The university also has a lot of connections where it allows students to work together with other company on the real project. We call this "cooperation company project". You can check them here www.frankfurt-school.de/home/programmes/master/data-science
In my opinion, there is no perfect uni that can really prepare you 100% . You have to get it outside uni through internships I guess.
If you are in the data engineering I would really suggest to learn the tools outside uni, AWS, Azure, GCP, or any other cloud platforms and create projects using these. I don't know know if these are covered in your uni but this is only based on what I observe in my work for data engineering.

@@datawithrez Thank you so much for the very detailed and kind reply.
My too priority when choosing a uni to study at was the world ranking of the university. But as time goes, I realized that I was not that prepared to go through the masters course, especially theoretical courses with heavy mathematics.
I was hoping to develop my skills through a bit of practical courses where I actually develop something along with some fundamental mathematics underlying the models with more focus on data analytics rather than data analysis or data engineering as my programming skills are not very good.
As you said, I have to prepare myself from outside of the university but the courses are really difficult to pass, some of which have failure rate of more than 50% of all the participants.
I have become a bit skeptical of what I was doing but reading your comment, there could be lots of opportunities for me to take if I just do whatever I want to do in this course.
I will definitely check the school webpage.
Again, I sincerely appreciate it for the kind and detailed explanation. I will keep my fingers crossed for your career💪

Also living in Germany, trying to get from software development to data science. Any tips? :)

hmm. interesting :) why are you going to shift in the first place? I'm not the expert in shifting careers 😅☺️ some tips you might have thought about it already but perhaps know the gap between Software dev and DS and study those gaps such as the basics involving DS. :) stat and math behind it, learn the simple predictive models. I would not recommend learning deep learning models first hand like computer vision. start with simple things first. then take data initiative within your team/company if you see there's a potential use case that can be solved by some analytics. these I think are the baby steps to start transition

Hi, perhaps try the CS50 course online. I think that was good for learning programming the first time.
