    Hey -so cool to see a review from someone from my vintage and only a province away. I agree with all that you said. I am only a few days with my new watch (upgrade from a 235) and I think it is fantastic. Looking forward to exploring all it can do on my Sask winter runs.

      Thank you and greetings from next door. It’s a nice device. Winter is coming sooner than later. Snow is coming tonight and cold temps. It was a good ride though. Thanks for watching. The support is appreciated. Enjoy the journey!

    Nice simple review with good points. I’ve had mine since June and I have really enjoyed. I’ve used it on many hikes and definitely have been more conscious about the screen. I usually just cover up the watch with a jacket or shirt sleeve when on trails with heavy brush or rock. For running though it has been excellent. Light weight and easy to use.

      Thanks for sharing! Yes, I am really careful with it but do love the lightweight of it. That and the battery has exceeded my expectations. Thanks for watching. Cheers

    Its is a very good alrounder.

      Yes it is. If they put a sapphire screen on it and it would be almost as perfect as you can have.

      @@Dogwalkerdave a high quality screen protector solves your fear of scratches. A Flashlight and next gen HR + temp sensor would increase the functionality and analytics.

    Yo Dave great review. I am also in my late 50's and my biggest issue is battery life. (The watch...not me) I ran a race in May with a Forerunner 45 which supposedly has a 13 hour w/gps limit. I got the low battery msg around 8 hours which was quite annoying. I'm not too bothered about much more than GPS and battery life ....don't want music etc. I may get myself a 965 but just feel a little ripped off paying for a bunch of features I don't need other than a long battery life. If you have any advice let me know..cheers!

      Thank you for the kind words. If you want excellent battery life, I’d honestly go for a Coros Pace or Apex . I know there are many Garmin fan people out there, but Coros, for the price, is stellar battery life. I had an Apex a couple of years back and was blown away by it.

    Good review! If this watch had saphirre glass, I would buy it right away! I wear my sport watch all the time and I ‘m pretty tough on it! But I really like the design of this watch

    I set mine to sleep mode starting at 10:30 PM till 7:30 AM and I use my GPS almost daily and I consistently get 25 days of battery.

    • @Dogwalkerdave
      @Dogwalkerdave  Před 8 dny

      @@lucasesteves6324 thank you. It all depends on how large of a watch you like. I don’t mind larger devices on my wrists but some prefer otherwise.

    How many days does the battery last with daily training for one hour with GPS.

    • @Dogwalkerdave
      @Dogwalkerdave  Před 3 měsíci

      Garmin claims 23 days in smartwatch mode. That’s without daily GPS tracking. I know it sounds like a cop-out, but it all depends on how many interactions you have with the screen during the day (notifications, etc), what kind of GPS mode you have enabled, daily heart rate, sleep and other tracking. All of these things drain the battery. With all of that said, you should get upwards of 2 weeks before charging provided you don’t have the most accurate GPS setting enabled and have a moderate amount of interactions with it. Hope this helps a bit. Thanks for watching.

    Hey Dave, have you thought about getting a Velcro band for it to make it even lighter? Thanks for the vid.

    • @klapaucius515
      @klapaucius515 Před 10 měsíci

      @@Dogwalkerdave could you elaborate more please? Because I don't like the idea of a band with steps (don't know what they're called) like the original band, I currently have an Apple Watch and velcro band has been a life saver for me.

      @@klapaucius515 oh I agree with you. I just don’t like the fabric when it gets wet - just a weird thing with me 😊. It does allow for more adjustment though as you have mentioned.

      There's also another benefit to the nylon band: it breathes better.

    955 vs 965?

    • @Dogwalkerdave
      @Dogwalkerdave  Před 3 měsíci

      I’ve never had the 955. Big difference in the two is the type of screen. 965 has the AMOLED screen which, while beautiful to look at it with the crisp colours and detail, uses a lot more battery than the MIP (memory in pixel) display on the 955. I believe the screen on the 965 is a bit larger as well.

    Garmin went with cheap glass and material on Fr965 and 265. It was not acceptable and a deal breaker for me.
