      Yeah but then why people will go for their expensive Epix series .... Best would be for both Garmin and the customer, is to combine the number of watch series to a few and reduce the top model prices ( Half price will be best ) that will help customer to select watch and enjoy great built and Garmin will sell more units .... If Garmin doesn't change them they will suffer the similar fate of Nokia !!!
      It's just a time in a few years before companies like samsung will come up with all those features of the top model from Garmin and additionally provide the versatility of Wear OS and apps as well as best build !!!

  • @aetles
    @aetles Před 8 měsíci +2

    I recently bought the 965 and I'm so happy with it. The pros and cons in mentioned in this video makes me even sure that this was a good choice. First off, the Epix Pro would be out of reach economically (as was the AW Ultra) but the advantages of getting more screen out of a lighter, smaller watch is key for me. I mainly use my Garmin for swimming (pool and open water) and the size and weight do matter more there than for running (or everyday use). Especially in the pool where I'm new to swimming with a watch (and tbh, I'd still rather not). The battery life is good enough for all of my endurance activities, I did a 17k swim one day and a 7+ hour hike the next and I was still at around 50 percent.

      @@craigholden3547 Yes, it was a race called Wörthersee Swim in an absolutely beautiful alp lake in Austria a couple of weeks ago, very nice swim (also nice to win it 😎✌). But that was not even the most crazy race, the day before I participated in 1000 meter butterfly, that was something!

    • @CanInelli
      @CanInelli Před 8 měsíci

      How do you find the open water gps accuracy of the 965? I have the AW Ultra and it's terrible in terms of gps reliability in open water. When it works it does work well but sometimes it just ruins my gps tracks and gives me like twice the distance that I swam. Also with the Watch OS10 Apple ruined the swimming data, both open water and pool swim give wrong data on Watch OS10.

    • @aetles
      @aetles Před 8 měsíci

      @@CanInelli I haven't used AW in open water myself, but generally it seems to be very good at GPS accuracy, like when DC Rainmaker is testing open water swim the AW and Garmins are usually the best. So it's surprising to hear your problems. Do you swim freestyle or breaststroke? I think any watch will have trouble with breaststroke since the watch i submerged all the time.
      Anyway, as for my new Garmin 965 I have had very good results in open water so far. It seems very accurate. My previous watch was the Garmin FR 910XT and even though that model is old (from 2011!) it had very good GPS accuracy for freestyle, better than a lot of later models, it seems. But one thing it could not handle was butterfly in open water, the track got all messed up. But with the 965 even the butterfly got a more or less perfect track, so I'm very happy with it so far.

      This is exactly the setup i’m considering. Do you ever tun to unfamiliar routes which the garmin can give you? That’s why in thinking to get the apple watch: music & phone on one wrist, and maps on the other. But for this scenario i’m not sure which one to actually log a workout on…

      @alexkhan2000 Před 8 měsíci

      @@Seanonyoutube I have yet to use mapping on the Garmin as it's fairly new and I haven't ventured into unfamiliar areas. I'd feel more comfortable with the AWU at this point in time as I've had more time with it. Most of the time, I'm running in my neighborhood and through very familiar routes.
      You can still log the workouts on the background on either watch. That's no problem at all. I often check on other things on the AWU while it's logging a workout. That's the edge that the AWU has over the Garmin - multitasking and being able to switch quickly between different apps that are running concurrently.

    Should mention that the 965 can only have a maximum of 6 data fields per page despite the biggest high PPI 1.4” screen. Even the 1.2” (and 1.3”) OLED screens on the Epix/Marq series can have up to 8. Deal breaker imo, but idk if this has been (or will be) updated since the 965 came out.

    I really enjoyed your videos and yours is among my top 3 fitness-smartwatch CZcams sites. But I do wish to provide some FYI which is solely meant to be my opinion and informative to you. You often do watch comparisons and, invariably, when you do, you often show the watches with toally different screen faces [like very different time faces or performance metric face] when each of the watches you are comparing have either the identical watch face or comparable ones. It makes it difficult to compare the display on the watches and to put what you are saying about the differences in context. Also when AOD displays first came out, one or more of the watches in your comparison would not have AOD on, or would time out to quickly. Then you would have to tap or keep flicking the watch which is distracting. I noticed that other reviewers simply put in the longest display timeout at least while video recording. For this video, when you discuss the size differences in F965 vs Epix 2 pro, you mention the body diameter diameter differences without mentioning that these two watches have the same screen size - usually the most important feature. Yes, I do know that towards the end of the video you do discuss this in body-to-screen ratio but this topic should be placed or integrated into the size discussion. Thanks. I do watch just about every one of your videos.

      Thanks for sharing your thoughts. In this video I do in-fact have both displays set to their maximum time-out which is 15 seconds. I always recommend folks check out the dedicated in-depth reviews for models discussed in these "quick comparison" type videos. Thanks for tuning in.

The 965 does not feel rugged and is much more suited for runners, then hikers or ultra runners. I picked up the Epix Pro 47mm while on sale for $700.00. I tried both, but kept the EPIX Pro 47mm because the plastic 965 with cartoonish watch faces is (to me) completely unsuitable for daily wear! And without all-day wear, the latest Garmin features (body battery, sleep tracking, recovery, training status, etc) are useless. For running only, the 965 certainly is a great watch, but ... for running only ... the 955 beats the 965 (because it has all the same features and superior outdoor visibility). The screen goes to sleep since these are AMOLED display watches. There is an “always on” setting but even in that mode it dims to preserve battery life after 8-15 seconds.
