This is a #sponsored video about the the brand new release, Gestalt: Steam & Cinder. It is available on July 16th on Steam for $19.99 USD (get 10% off during the week of the release). You can purchase the game here: bit.ly/CannotBeTamedGestalt
@Nightswipe1 so far, I am enjoying a lot. Love the art design, and the controls feel good, too. I'm also trying to get through afterimage and the last faith but something just isn't clicking with those titles
Congrats on the sponsorship! Just finished the demo two days ago, and I was *thrilled* with what I saw, maybe even on the level of 9 Years of Shadows; glad to see it came out well, and I'll definitely be picking this up at some point.
I love how the combat mechanics allow you to replenish ammunition by landing hits with your sword. I know that's not really a new mechanic to games of this ilk. Especially when you consider the game that introduced me personally to this function, Hyper Light Drifter (or Islets if you want to reference another game Pam has already talked about in the past.) But it is a cool way to incentivize players to use a combination of melee and long ranged attacks. I like it when games do a good job of encouraging their players in question to use both kinds of weapons/abilities.
Another fantastic review. Short yet very detailed, thorough and covering every area of the game. This was already on my wishlist, and it's definitely staying there after having watched this. Many thanks for the video! :)
Pam I love your content. You have such a good eye. I hadn't even heard of this one but I'm definitely gonna pick it up. You haven't steered me wrong yet. Thanks again.
already had my eye on this one, but glad for the heads up about release, and the confirmation that it continues being interesting in the ways I liked the demo, thanks for the link
I just finished this, recommended for sure. My only compaint is that it's a bit short, took me 8.1h to 100% the game, would recommend waiting for sale to pick it up ^^
REALLY WANTED THIS GAME TO WORK!!! Been looking forward to it for a while. Unfortunatly, every time I try to load a save a just get a black screen and the game shutsdown. None of the updates have worked, Gutted.
The Xbox store for 360 is closing on Monday Pam, just in case you weren’t aware. I know you are a fan of digital. So now it the time to get a few rare ones. There is surprisingly no sales. I don’t know if 360 games were prone to disc rot. None of mine have it.
This looks cool! Feels like they nailed the style they went for. I'm glad to hear it's not just pretty but you enjoyed it too. I think I would like this on the Switch. If you're curious, "Gestalt" is pronounced with a "g" like in "ghost" and the "s" in it is said as a "sh". In German, it can mean the form of something and its being, and it can be used to describe a mysterious being you know nothing about - like if you only saw a silhouette of a person at night you could say you saw a Gestalt. In philosophy and psychology, it's used as a loanword in other languages, including English, to talk about the relationship between the appearance and the being of something. It has a connotation of something metaphysical and mysterious.
@@Cannotbetamed1 So I assume the devs chose to say it like that? In that case, I"m conflicted about pronouncing things the way the creator declared if the creator didn't make an informed choice and was just wrong. For example, the creators of GIF knew what they were doing, but I have a feeling the devs of this game didn't. If they did, and they wanted it like that for whatever reason, then fine, Pam's correct. If they didn't know how it's supposed to be pronounced, then I don't know if it should be pronounced the way they said. 🤔
You say the game is forgiving (a plus for me when it comes to platformers) but 37 seconds into the video you're already doing stuff that looks like it requires insane thumb-eye coordination. Does it have insta-death spike bs? It looks awesome though a the characters look a bit on the animeish side during the dialogue sequences. If you could choose only one... the new Prince of Persia or this one. Which one would you choose?
Not really insta-deaths. If you fall in a pit you just lose a health and respawn immediately. There is only one game (in the genre) I'd choose over the new Prince of Persia, and it's Hollow Knight.
You and fireb0rn both seem determined to pronounce gestalt like gestation. It's a German word, which means, unlike "German," it has a hard G sound. guh-shtalt.
@@Cannotbetamed1 Maybe languages shouldn't use loan-words if they want to mess them up, and just make up their OWN word instead. 😒 And we thought Hollywood was pathetic with its inability to make up new stuff and just ruining existing things; languages have been doing that for centuries. 🤦
Thank you for covering this game. I'm a bit bummed to hear it's so short, honestly - that's like a third of the scope of either Blasphemous game, which may feel somewhat underwhelming to people familiar with the genre.
• Leveling up, boo. • You can pet the dog, 7/10. • Environments look delicious, 8/10. • A bit easy, 6/10. • Movement looks sweet, 7/10. • Skill tree, 7.5/10. • Fast travel is unlocked later, 8/10. • Steampunk is hokey, 7/10. • But it's handled well, 8/10. • I haven't played it yet, ?/10.
Blah. No desire to play any of these 16-bit looking games. Been there, done that, back in the Sega Genesis games. While I don't need great graphics, I at least need a game that doesn't look 30+ years old.

"[she can] wall-jump immediately"
Thank God for games that give you a little something something right from the start
Ooh nice Pam was looking forward to this game and cool that you have a review out so soon
Your videos are great pam. Always look forward to them. I just started ender lillies from a recommendation on one of your videos
That game is great. Enjoy it!

@@standingbearwhiskyA game very natural to complete because the map tells you if you collected everything in each room or not.
Thanks so much!
About time this released. I've had it wishlisted since the lockdown... I think.
Been looking forward to this one for a while! Thomas Feichtmeir's art style is incredible, always cool seeing more of it.
The art is really good.
I dig the look of this game. Steampunk is such a cool concept.
You should check out metal slug from snk. It has really good graphics for the 1990s.
Congrats on the sponsorship! Just finished the demo two days ago, and I was *thrilled* with what I saw, maybe even on the level of 9 Years of Shadows; glad to see it came out well, and I'll definitely be picking this up at some point.
Thank you! I hope you have fun with the game.
I've been waiting since PAX East 2020 for this game and had more or less given up the ghost on it. I'm so glad it's finally out!
Sabriel! I just learned recently how long this game has been on people's radar for. I just learned about it last year.

Outstanding video Pam!
Thanks!

Hope you enjoy it!
Graphics, setting, on the easier side, sounds right up my alley!
Yeah, sometimes it's nice to play something that's not too stressful.
Congrats on this neat sponsored video Pam!
Thank you!
Great review! I watch your videos to try to improve my own reviews. Thank you!
Aw, thank you.

If you can trust anyone for a great indie game review, it's Pam. I'm definitely getting this one.
I hope you enjoy it!
The character art and soundtrack on this game alone make it a must buy -
Usually I don't buy games at launch nowadays but I've had this on my wishlist forever and I'll probably pick this up after work
Have fun!
As always, a detailed, clean and professional review. No spoilers, no clickbaits. Just the stuff that matters. Thanks a lot :)
I appreciate that!
This looks like a really cool Metroidvania. I can't afford it right now, but I did wishlist it. Maybe next month.
The pixel art looks awesome! Must rescue all doggos.
I've been looking forward
to this game for a while
Nice Review 😎✌️
Been looking forward to this one. Looks great. Cheers Pam.
This game seems really good and enjoyable. Its art and design is pleasant to me. Thank for the review Pam🤘

Oh, that's a shame. The devs are pretty responsive if you post on the Steam discussions or their discord.
I'll definitely have to keep an eye out in case this lands on a platform I have. It looks like a fun way to spend a day.
Really dig the review. Sigh, looks like another game I need to pick up.
I love the art style and the boss battles look fantastic.

Yes, I'm familiar with Gestalt psychology.

Wonderful video
Thank you
her movement and sword attacks reminds me of the way zero was in the megaman games
Great video, this is going on my wishlist!
Look really cool and right up my alley. I hope it comes to consoles one day 😎
Thanks for this review, definetely my type of game
Thank you, this one sounds like a side game now that I'm about to start Elden Ring 's DLC.
I think this would make for a nice break from Elden Ring.
Cool video, the game looks great :-D hopefully there will be a physical version^^
Love this game!! Perfect platformer! Thanks for posting!
Love the pixel art!
Excellent review Pam! Glad the game turned out good since I watch some of the streamers that helped produce this game Jesse Cox and Dexbonus (Dodger).
Thanks!
Well made pixel art steam punk game looks really neat.

I’m enjoying Bo much much more, but I kinda knew gestalt wasn’t up my alley
I want to try Bo soon.
Hm. The character movement and combat animations seems similar to MegamanZero. Looks cool though.
Aletheia comes from the Greek word" Αλήθεια " which literally means " Truth ".
Obviously :D
Main character has a real Carmen San Diego vibe.
Her name means truth. A-Lee-thee-ah. 😊
Yes, you're very smart.
Cheers!🐙
Thank you!
This looks good; I hope it gets a console port at some point.
Looks like a game for me
Sounds like I’ll be holding down Y a lot but this looks pretty cool
Sucks it’s not on console as well alongside the PC version. I want it for PS5.
I believe console versions are planned.
@@Cannotbetamed1 yes, they are, but they may or may not see the light of day depending on Steam sales.
Gonna wait for switch port
its finally out? crazy
It's true

🦮But where is Lily?
You and fireb0rn both seem determined to pronounce gestalt like gestation. It's a German word, which means, unlike "German," it has a hard G sound. guh-shtalt.
What, you mean English speakers sometimes don't pronounce words like German-speakers. Weird.

by... "demons" .
"Tesla bullets make perfect sense" Yes ! You can't have a steampunk setting worth its saltpeter without at least one thing called Tesla
Sponsored? Get that coin, sis.
Umm, just an fyi, gestalt is some type of psychology and this game is very psychological 🍝🐐

hard G girl, Hard G.
And /sh/.
Do you consider to do OF-content?
I’m impressed with how beautiful the host is.
I thought it was pronounced Gestalt, like guest. not jest.
It is. And the 's' is pronounced /sh/.
Gaming is a make space. Please stay out of it
I'd hate to invade a make space.
