- For the past two years, I've been testing, reviewing and flying the so called SMART drones that practically fly themselves. Those are cool drones, but not so good for SKILL TRAINING. I haven't flown in a while, so I felt like I NEEDED some practice. What better bird to fly and bring us back to our ROOTS than the MJX Bugs 3? The Bugs 3 is still, to this day, one of my most favorite ALL AROUND quadcopters... POW!!! -djsoulforce!

Best quad I’ve ever owned. Have made/bought so many other quads now. This is the best for so many reasons. You just pull your Bugs out of your trunk and go. No goggles needed...

Your reviews convinced me to buy my first Bugs 3, years back! Since then, I've flown others, but today I fly modded Bugs 3s out over the ocean and in all sorts of interesting locations that the dji guys have problems flying in. Thanks again for getting me on board with such a great bird and hobby.

Very nice to see you flying again DJ, I have 3 Bugs 3's and several others in the Bug's family. The last time that I flew mine was last summer and it was a blast. There is nothing like flying manual as you have always said, if you can fly manual you can fly anything. POW!!!

That Bugs series seems to live on!! Man the companies use of the term HDR is ridiculous from DJI and Parrot. AEB shots do not equal HDR. At least the Bugs series is true to it's marketing as you've shown many times.

When scrolling through my CZcams alerts, I saw that you had a new Bugs 3 video, and I stopped everything I was doing to watch it. I agree with everything you said, I have fond memories of this drone, even though I haven’t flown in awhile either. I consider it the best fully manual drone (for the money) ever made. I’m inspired to charge a battery and fly my Bugs today. Alas it’s going to rain all day. Great video my friend, and let that Bugs 3 sit in the closet for another year.

Nice that you have the luxury to fly an old bird that still looks good in the sky, I'm still on lockdown practicing on a simulator, or flying a nano quad indoors into the walls and ceiling.

I suggest that you give the Bugs 3, or maybe a brushed motor, manual operated drone a try. A quadcopter like this can greatly improve your flying skills! Thanks for watching buddy, happy flying!!!

Love both my Bugs 3's one has the Hawkeye firefly fortress with the 200mw vtx on it's back and three blade 6" props and the other has been repurposed with a complete 3d printed frame and a ccd camera and 600mw vtx but she's a big girl. I won't go on about her weight because ladys don't like that..LOL. I also have the bugs 3 mini and I did away with the flight board and put a super s-s4 flight controller in it's place so no more funny acro and now I can program it and do the pid hop on it's ass. love when you fly your birds D.J. see you in the next one.

It was such a joy to fly it again after sitting on the shelf for over a year. Never thought I would get bored with intelligent drones, lol!!!!
@@DJSOULFORCE oh I get very bored with GPS drones. They are cool but are a snore to fly.
Good to see that you still know how to fly, even if you forgot some of the TX features .. ha ha! The Mobius Mini needs to have its battery topped off prior to flying, as it seems to continuously discharge .. which is probably why it shut itself off. The Mobius still gives really good video. If you want to be cinematic with it, you just have to fly in a cinematic manner. I never did buy a Bugs 3 ... just not enough room in my house to have all those quads. If I want to tear up the sky, I can always put up one of my racers .. even the LDARC ET-115 ... which only has a couple quick test flights on it after I bound it to my Taranis X9D+ TX. I think that S.C. is opening up a bit, so you have a bit of freedom. We're probably in about the same situation here in Ohio ... lots of stuff open or will be opening (except perhaps in the big cities of Cleveland, Columbus, Cincinnati & maybe Youngstown). All the rural counties in the state have had very little Covid-19 impact, for which I'm glad. Stay safe over there bro .. you're no 'Spring Chicken' any more (but still younger than me!). Cheers!
Yeah, what's up with that continuous discharge crap? That's a TIP that I wish you had given me back when I bought it, but I do THANK you for the recommendation, I do love this little camera. I had recently charged it, but it was about 5 days before this shoot, thought it would be still good to go. Not seen in this video, the Mobius Maxi crapped out on me too on the same day's shoot. It fired up, indicators looking good, started a recording. At the end of the shoot, it wouldn't shut off. Went into, what looked liked standby mode, but camera was still on and draining the battery. Needless to say, by the time I got home, battery was drained and that video was lost 😢😢😢!!! Thanks for watching brother, stay safe.
@@DJSOULFORCE Yeah, well, the 808 Keychain does the same thing. So, anytime I'm considering using one of them, I always plug them into a 2.5 amp USB charger to charge them up quickly. A year or 2 ago, I replaced the battery in my 808, which had stopped being able to hold a charge ... it does better now. Perhaps I might replace the battery in the Mobius Mini. As for your Maxi (pad), there should be a recessed button to do a hard reset on it. Also, check for firmware updates, as that's a pretty new model. In general, the Mobius line has been pretty solid in operation .. much better than the Xiaomi YI that I HAD (before getting rid of it).
I have two, that I still fly. It’s been a while though, was planning on putting them in the air when the weather permits. Been flying the Mavic Mini lately, so probably need the manual stick time.🙂
I'm sure you're loving that Mavic Mini and it's a stress free bird to fly. But yes, you do need to get in some manual stick time every now & then. I was also surprised at how much fun it was to fly the Bugs again!!! Thanks for watching and your comments buddy. HAPPY FLYING!!!

I have 3 bugs 3's 1 to tinker wit fpv camera ext 1 to have fun with and 1 in the box in case they stop making them and the way the drone market is shrinking im thinking about another spare. Yo soul force what’s your range on that bugs 3. I’m kinda scared to go out as far as you cause I loose orientation.. i couldn’t tell which way the lights were facing.I lost my first bugs that way as I flew it out of range and it kept goin .couldn’t find it.
Sounds like you could use a bit more orientation training. To practice that, I suggest finding a wide open field and practice flying in 'square' circles and gradually increase the range each time you complete the square. The Bugs 3 controller should beep to warn you when you're getting out of range. Good luck buddy, thanks for watching!!!

Damn that thing zips. I currently have 2 mini quads that i fly. Hubsan H501ss and H502s. Id like a bugs but something better with as many features as the H501S. What do you recommend OG Soulforce?

@@heado2222 I found that the Bugs 3 can run safely on 3S, but I don't suggest using 3S for every flight. Occasional 3S short runs, check the temperature of your motors then let the bird cool down. (watch the video in the link above) Good luck buddy, thanks for watching!!!

Put on a 200mw AIO VTX and it will get almost a mile away...Jay Drone does a video on this as well after I keyed him in to the crazy capabilities of this quad...you have to fly it at low altitude for a couple of flights to get yourself accustomed to how it flys and then take it as high as you want and just about as far as you want.
It's the 501S without a camera or gps...but when you open it up...the esc's have "501S" stamped on them and there is a camera and a gps plug in port.

I know that alreay, lol. That's why you should invest $65 bucks (link in description) and get one of these for some REAL flight experience. That Mavic Pro you have, flies itself while you only get to steer it!!!!! A bird like the Bugs can teach you better pilot skills and grow confidence. It can also prepare you for the "in case" your Mavic ever malfunctions or loses GPS signal and you have to fly manually... POW!!!

The transmitter beeps to warn you before you go out of range. If you ignore the warnings, then YES, it's gone. I've lost a couple that way, lol.
