- First test flight & review of the Holy Stone HS-510. This little brushless motor, GPS, foldable drone, actually shoots video in 4K (no stabilization though) and is an awesome flyer. It's small and compact, weighs less than 250 grams and comes in a hard carrying case with two batteries. This little girl was a blast to fly. Although the camera seemed to struggle a little with Dynamic Range (changes to light conditions) it's not too bad for a cheap (around $150 bucks after applying coupon code at checkout) toy grade, GPS camera drone. Pretty impressive for a budget quad, and does remind me of the Bugs 7. A nice flyer with decent range, now if only they could stabilize that video a little. Great review my friend, and good to see you flying again.

Hello i hear what your saying about video . It takes beautiful photos: imagine how nice the stable vid would be. I saw a video on utube recently, where a rubber band was placed in the grooves either side of the camera. It makes quite a lot of improvement

It's an old original RunCam HD (1080p @ 30fps). There are newer cameras on the market that take better video but the new cameras have poor audio. I've used the RunCam for all of my CZcams videos, except for a couple of videos of me testing new cameras that failed my test (check out my channel for more). Hi wondering in what shape are the cables going inside the little legs, cause i bough one and is looking a red one is pinched a bit and i am afraid in time after opening and closing few time will brake !!!

My wires are visible but no pinching (so far). I can see where this could be a problem in the future. If your drone is new, I suggest writing to HolyStone to let them know about the issue. They have one of the best customer services in the drone market, they probably will send you a new one and let you keep the old one! Got $300 to purchase a drone. Would like reliable, brushless, GPS, 3 axis gimbal, 4K, and something 25 to 50 percent larger to be able to see line of sight a bit better as I intend to register it anyway. Any suggestions or should I wait to be able to spend $500~$600?
To Bad it hasnt a gimbal or other Video stabilisation.

Wish it had a remote controlled camera gimbal (camera up/down). Still a great drone for the money. Iâd prefer 30fps 1080p over the higher quality 15 and 25 FPS.
You would think that a drone that shoots 4K should also have a setting for 1080@30 or 60fps, right! There's no 1080P setting for this camera, which is a shame. 1080P 60fps would make much better video than 4K @16fps!!! Thanks for watching and your feedback bro!!!

I just got mine today. So far I'm not happy. It won't stay connected to my phone and I can't even get the motors to start. Hopefully have better luck tomorrow
I wish I could offer some assistance, but it has been a while since I made this video and I no longer have this drone. I do remember that Holy Stone had several Apps out at the time and you have to make sure you're using the right one. Also, cell phones have changed a lot over the past two years. @@martinpanzardi finally got it connected used it a couple times. Tried to have it return to home and it took off and crashed 30 feet up in a tree. Spent 2 hours looking for it. Found it and haven't used it since lol. The only issue I really have is my phone doesn't fit in the controller so I can only fly with in eye site

So, let me get this straight. Are you looking for a drone or just the camera? It sounds like you're wanting to place the camera at the fence line and leave it unattended. If so, you may wanna look at one of those trail cameras with motion detection and extended battery life! To shoot HD video without spooking the deer, a small, quiet drone like the DJI Mavic Mini would be perfect for that. Good luck, thanks for watching and your question.

@@MrSprintcat I'm not aware of any cameras that will fit your needs. You could probably use a small 5.8ghz FPV camera, along with a set of goggles to view the video, but those little cameras (found on racing drones) batteries don't last that long! Good luck, I'm sure there's something out there!!!

Did you try searching for it in the HolyStone store on Amazon.com or at HolyStone.com??? Do a Goggle search??? As a last option, the HolyStone drones are often clones of other similar drones on the market, such as Eachine or Snaptain... give one of them a try! How do you rotate the camera
You can point the camera up and down manually before take off. The camera does not rotate, you must rotate the drone for that! Thanks for watching.

Go to HolyStone.com and read the specs on this drone. They usually put a link for the owner's manual that will tell you which app to download. Good luck!!

you will not find another with this build (feels very sturdy) and that kind of battery protection. It is a good learner drone and done you really cant lose.
Well the maiden flight didn't go so well, about 30 sec. In it went rouge after flying erratic it crashed and now only 2 motors work
Sorry to hear that buddy. CONTACT HolyStone right away and let them know what happened. I'm sure they will send you a replacement. Make sure to do proper calibrations before your first flight. As a pre-caution, after your first takeoff, let the drone hover in place for about 60 seconds before you fly out. Pay attention to the "toilet bowl" syndrome - that is when the drone flies in a circle and steadily picks up speed on it's own - like water going down the toilet! Good luck!!!

I got this little hs510 pretty darn good little drone only weighs about 242 grams it says 245 grams the Wi-Fi could be improved camera can be improved by putting a rubber band around the camera housing push it into it touches both left and right side should help stabilize video I didn't buy it for the video I bought it for the performance and it does a heck of good job about 15 to 16 minutes of Lifetime give or take so don't cut it down to bad it actually works pretty darn good for the price I see the Amazon is when only giving you a $20 coupon I got a $30 them when I bought mine got mine for 190 just wondering can I use your coupon and the $20 off at Amazon that would be 50% of the price don't think they allow that I'm putting a rubber band around the camera housing I saw it on the net this isn't my idea now I also saw where you can build a balancer and charge it off of hobby charger which I did build my own design Hobbies charger you must have a charger that can do lihv high voltage 3.8 V battery if not wouldn't do you no good charge up to 4.35% * 2 8.70 volts

@@DJSOULFORCE I actually decided to go with the Eachine Ex4 because it is the same price but has a 3 axis gimble. The video quality looks slightly better too. The video footage is a lot smoother

Not 100% certain, some drones can use 2.8ghz wifi & 5G at the same time. The Holy Stone App recommends 5G but also keep in mind, you can also fly this drone without a smart device, you just won't be able to see the camera in the App. You can go to this site and see which wifi you have on your phone - www.gsmarena.com

I gave amazon a one star review then the crooked ass seller e-mailed me offering me a free one if I'd change it to a 5 star review. Sorry but I'm not going to give a good review on a bad drone and screw someone else in the process! This is probably a decent model but mine wasn't. I have to admit there was a temptation to take them up on the offer and later edit it back to one star and tell everyone what the dirty bastards did! But I enjoy a clear conscience more than a free quad.
@@thisolddog2259 you have to calibrate it properly before each flite. I have had one for a year. Thought I had lost it 4 times. returned to the starting point every time. best drone for any beginner
Dustin Dunnill lost a Mavic Pro when it went into automatic landing while flying low over water. He has been looking for it using his rc submarine for the last three years.
I wonder if it was because he descended below the takeoff height??? I'd like to do some experiments with that, except it's all flat where I live, lol!!!

@@DJSOULFORCE no, the drones are not good over transparent or reflective surfaces, they warn you about it. i live in a riverine area
Iâve had this drone since September 2020; itâs easy to fly and has many features for the price but I wouldnât buy it again.
1. Screw propellers are a bad idea in anything that vibrates and turns. Iâm on my fifth set of props and screws - they seem to fly off easily.
2. The camera sensor has trouble with high contrast; bright areas are washed out.
3. Without multiple gimbals, every little vibration shows up in the video - itâs very shaky

The video wasn't great .. but it was better than I expected. The 25fps isn't too big a deal, since the video you see in theaters is about the same. Its the 'bitrate' ... how many bps (bits per second) is it writing to the card ... I'd guess its limited .. especially in 4K mode. Not having a true gimbal (or at least EIS) is a drawback as well .. as is the lack of camera pitch control. At $200 its about 1/3 the cost of a Mavic Mini, which has all that stuff. Also has some 'fisheye', but that goes with the territory. You mentioned not having a face mask ... in your state, are you required to wear them anytime you are outdoors? I guess I'm spoiled living in a very rural area of NE Ohio ... we pretty much don't need to wear masks anywhere, unless a certain establishment mandates it (so we just avoid those kind of establishments). We'll keep an eye open for future updates. POW Broski!

I do agree with all that you said, but I still think it's kinda cool that the newbies are getting some pretty cool stuff these days for the buck... remember when headless mode was invented?đ„đ„ POW!!! @@DJSOULFORCE I looked it up on Amazon, and their price was $200 ... $139 is a good price. I think Syma X8Cs were about $89-$99 when they 1st came out, but later the price dropped to about $59 .. maybe less. The X8C was a real D-O-G compared to a Tarantula, which used the same motors/battery (or even the MJX 101). Yeah, considering what you get, some of these quads are pretty sophisticated compared to the 'bare bones' quads we had in the "bad old days". I think my 1st toy grade quad didn't even have gyro stability, so it was like flying in Acro ... a tough thing to learn on. Yep, people getting into the hobby now sure have it good! POW!

No imagine stabilization
Unfortunately, it does not have image stabilization. You would have to move up the Holy Stone HS720-E, which electronic image stabilization. I'll be reviewing that one soon. Thanks for watching and your question.
