Hard to beat the jetties when theres a mass of baitfish everywhere. Bad about the rod. I aint broke a rod on a fish for a minutte but snapped one getting off the boat the other week. My fave St Croix Avid! So got another St Croix but a Legend. Love it so far.

great video, so glad to see the way you release fish instead of killing fish you can't eat. I noticed lately a number of bad actors that have fishing channels, catching jacks at surfside jetty and gaffing everyone of them even though they have no intention of keeping them. That is totally unacceptable. What a waste of resources. When you confront them they say they keep them for shark bait. That's BS., Would love to hear your thoughts.

Long ago in the days of red ambassadeur's, reels did not have one piece frames. When a big jack would hit we would break them off because they were too hard on reels.

Does he wear the glove because of using braided main line? about to make my 2nd coastal trip and will be doing a bit of surf and jetty. my first time out I didn't tie a long enough leader and the braid almost destroyed my finger. definitely tying longer leaders this time unless there is a glove to prevent that?

Is that a krocodile spoon. If so that same spoon half or a 1/3 that size, or chrome with hammered on dimples at lake chabot in castro valley california has caught limits of trout, largemouths, and multiple channel cats while trolling for trout. Nothing like what you're catching but it catches a big variety of fish out on the west coast including stripers in San Francisco Bay and occasional halibut

If can take the drag washers out and grease them with lithium grease , it's water proof , the first thing I do when I buy a reel even expensive reel is remove the drag washers and grease them , you can always palm the spool , or learn how to back reel a spinning reel , Im 64 been fishing Since I was 4yrs old , love your videos been watching for 4 years now ,

9' is more wieldy 10' might get you a bit more casting distance.

I've had it for a few years just don't always use it. Slammer is wayyy more durable and water resistant but the bg is cheaper.

Get a fine net and collect those small baby mullet fry, freeze in bag and days when no bait is out defrost bring with you and chuck them out and the fish will go nuts 😜
