As an autistic single father of a son who is autistic that the rabbi said is so true I personally feel more comfortable speaking to hashem opening up to hashem when I absolutely can't talk to most people with out being stressed out. I just wish as a Jewish community we could invite our autistic brothers and sisters a little more to be a member of our community
Nurodiverse poeple are the empaths and soulful prayerful poeple that actually experience life that people are blind to seeing
I can completely agree with you there!!!
We are 😊
Why does this happen? What is the factor(s) that cause neuro diversity?
@@freebird1477Fate and other factors…
WOW. 🎯🎯🎯 My mother screamed on the phone one day at me that I need to be “more compassionate” because I didn’t react to something in the ridiculous fake overly emotional way the rest of the family does 🙄 I’m like…… and THIS is why I live in the wilderness 1,000 miles away from all y’all. That comment made me over-analyze for months in my quiet time that maybe I’m some horrible incompassionate monster with a stone heart? My husband brought up that I rescue horses from kill pens and take in every stray…..lack of compassion is not an issue. It’s other humans unwilling to see things from another’s perspective that’s the issue. 🎯 I didn’t know neuro-divergent was even a thing! THANK YOU 🙏🏻
B"H ❤ You are such a beautiful example of what a vessel of HaShem's light should be. Thank you for all that you do!
All I could think is: I have to translate this to Hebrew, there are too many people in need to listen to this.
Man you really broke down the confusion of how people see autism spectrum behaviors well. This means a lot to me and it’s beautiful hearing it in a spiritual context. Thank you for these videos.
I know the story was about autism, but neurodivergence also applies to those with CPTSD, DID and high cognitive functioning people.
Being hardwired differently radically disrupts relationships, livelihoods and living sustainably in a world where you are the outlier who is stigmatized and judged at every turn. Sometimes, it’s simply because you are aware that you don’t understand things or respond as others do. Unfortunately, repetitive rejection and labeling also severely narrows the spaces where those who are neurodivergent can exist, let alone thrive. Which, then, raises the bar that has to be navigated in order to create and live a whole, meaningful life.
There are a myriad of reasons to withdraw from the neurotypical world when one doesn’t belong within it. One of the most difficult aspects to live with is regret for the wake of failures with people you loved along the way…worse is knowing that any relationship you may be able to have today is likely to be gone tomorrow. Because of your differentials. It is this very temperance and isolation that drives the neurodivergent to seek The Most High as the only One able to fully know and who never fails.
This is a very important comment. Thank you for taking the time to write this up so carefully. Regarding CPTSD please see my podcasts on trauma that I did with top experts in the field czcams.com/play/PL1he-JRtnKejFz06qJzS-uuBujEYyABcP.html&si=c_gHr2MAR7oI6OQ8
I certainly don't wish to invalidate what you're saying in your comment, which is very thoughtful, nor the sense of being an "outlier" that comes with CPTSD and DID, but neither of those conditions fall under neurodivergence. As someone with a background in mental health and working in a neurodivergent advisory board, I think it's important to be accurate and not risk confusing people. It's true though, that CPTSD and activated trauma can very much impair executive functioning and shares some symptoms of ADHD. But it doesn't fall under neurodivergency.
I am a strong empath. Have always known why I am here. And have been surrounded by narcissists my entire life. And have grown to a healthy spiritual level, and through a lot of traumatic events, and loss of life of almost my entire family, I have moved forward on my path to be in service. I don't agree with the masking, at least for me. I'm very blunt, and will not be inauthentic. That is the behavior of a narcissist. I appreciate your way of teaching, down to earth, and that you offer your wisdom to help others. I just found this, and was curious to see if it was about what I thought it is. And pleased it was. 😊 I look forward to listening to other videos of yours Rabbi ❤ Brightest Blessings to you ❣️❣️❣️
This sums up my 🏀 career. I'm severely dyslexic and reading and writing is extremely difficult for me. However, I could see things on the court that other players couldn't see.
Great to hear from you! Imagine if you had never discovered basketball and you never had a channel for your gift. I want parents to know that if their child is “different” they need to help that child find that thing that their brain is uniquely suited for. Thanks for commenting.
@@SoulWords Thank you for your incredible work!!
9:13 yes that is true about people who are autistic but keep in mind that it's only true for those who've been allowed to be autistic and haven't been forced to mask. If they've been forced to mask then they're probably constantly thinking about what other people think of them because they're worried that they'll come across as weird. But masking is really a trauma response.
I have autism and was diagnosed late in life and spent my life masking so thank u for this comment
I work in mental health. This talk was amazingly on point. Thank you for your spiritual insights.
"Constant shock and disappointment in the cruelty and imperfections of this world." 💯 I hope the kind and pure world we thought this was until we were continually shown otherwise actually exists and that we get to return there after our journey here is complete.
Also rabbi you have really done an amazing job at this video and in describing the symptoms and the things people with autism go thru thank you for this video
Also your comment on addiction it is very prevalent in the high functioning community I personally was an addict for so many many years until the last five years I've been clean but the drugs really work for so long it helps till you in the depths of your addiction its a catch 22
I'm not Jewish but this has helped me so much ❤ Thank you
Thank you Rabbi Taub!!
🔯🙏❤🔥
absolutely outstanding teachings and soulful connection here Rabbi.. thank you for all your videos.. you are helping to make this life more joyful ..
Thank you so much!!!
ohhh Rabbi, thank you again.. i am shedding tears of compassion at this ending segment.. as an embodied soul who is often accused of wearing rose color tinted glasses, like that’s a FAULT, i can so relate to the predicament you so brilliantly counseled that mother on about her son.. it IS a tough gig here balancing realities with the “fairytales” i guess.. ultimately, and with passing of time to age me up, i now know i can find the joys in my days which works to soften my focus on the disappointments thus bringing me a measure of happiness versus frustration❣️🙏🏻.. and YES!! thank heavens for tagless tshirts now!!!!!!
@@lesleyM84 It means so much to me that this message has resonated with you. Thank you!
Thank you Rabbi for being you, your knowledge has blessed my life tremendously. MissNatasha here, I am Authentically Autistic / ADHD and now feel more confident and open to be myself. I am working towards autonomy in my own life to be able to maneuver life in a more positive way. Blessings and Joy to you and your family 🍓
That means so much to me. Thank you! You need to be you! Your Creator only made one of you!
I am so grateful for you! Just discovered you at just the right time. (When the student is ready, the teacher appears) Thank you Sir! Subbed and now beginning the binge of all your content👍
Welcome!!!
Rabbi, I was recently diagnosed with Autism, and this really helped me to accept myself and understand myself better.
It means so much to me to hear that. Remember, your diagnosis doesn’t make your life harder. You are who you are with or without a diagnosis. But having one can sometimes make it easier to understand yourself and to explain yourself to others.
Closing statement, in true neurodiverse fashion: " That's really all I wanted to tell you tonight... ummm... That's all I got"
😂
😂 would you believe it seemed like a completely normal and appropriate thing to say at the time?
From the bottom of my heart. Thank you.
Rabbi . This is such a huge mitzvah and can only be done properly by someone as sensitive as you.
On the subject of addiction for people on the high end of the spectrum, this is very common and much discussed in the communities of asd. I don't know how to share links on CZcams comments
It’s good to hear that I’m not the only one who made that observation. It needs to become more widely understood so that people can have more compassion on themselves and others and then pursue more effective solutions.
It can be so exhausting to live a life trying to be "neurotypical", when from your very first memory you have always felt out of place, out of step and cut off from those around you. As I have grown old and found myself always working with children "on the spectrum", it has left me wondering just how "typical" that outgoing, happy, demonstrative personality really is... Maybe it just seems that they are typical because the rest of us work so hard at "passing" as normal.
I have never felt so seen and understood. God bless your kind heart.
Another gem. Thank you Rabbi
❤ TYSM for discussing this topic!!! There must be a Torah way of managing #Autism and #ADHD
I am afraid as I get older that I recognize some of these things within myself. I think I am so good at it now, however I walk around thinking I don't understand people at all.
I am just coping at this point. I have no clue. The way I have survived is by being observant and sieving it through what I know should be normal to spot the abnormalities. Otherwise I was too naive in the past. I had to find a strategy to filter deception.
I am often just asking to be free from all these complications. My life is good but I don't find people to be satisfying or wholesome or just safe. They are too complex and you have to be constantly deciphering what is what.
I have found myself in unsafe situations because I did not spot a nefarious person.
I self soothe for sure. I still suck my fingers at my age and I have my favorite "rag" which is what I can describe the remnants of it.
This was amazing, thank you so much Rabbi
Thanks!
Thanks for the super thanks!
4:45 now all I can think about is what would a raw potato taste like
This come thread will be filled with the thoughts from my ADHD brain throughout this lecture
Bring it on! 😀
Being autistic and ADHD in the frum system was sensory hell. The tights...the lycra shells...long sleeves in the summer...ugh
This is so important. Thank you for sharing this perspective.
I am a Newly Israelite, however I can graciously relate to this. Thank you so very very much for your honest and transparent words of wisdom, for your kindness. This is such a refreshing thing. And I agree more people definitely need to see this.
Ive been on the Autism Spectrum since the late 90s, I was misdiagnosed for A.D.H.D. And although that is correct it was a symptom. I am on the Asperger's Spectrum and this really helped me understand myself a little more and I have it saved as to help me when I am feeling discouraged!!! Thank you Rabbi!!!! May Machiach bless your year and add unto your life in so many ways🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
Shalom Brother🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
Wow first off the story of the father and son and the Rebbe made me cry as the father cried wow what's wrong with me😢
Thanx for the story and the cry
Thank you. I am Lithuanian catholic, I like what you say. Very interesting.
18:42 EXACTLY 😂😂😂
I'm tired of people's fake politeness gosh😂😂😂 You see when you know your not crazy, & in your mind everyone is dumb but your kinda slow too, but very handsy so you just keep to yourself incase you offend someone and end up in the back of one of these again🚔 😂😂😂 What you say about politeness makes perfect sense.
Side note: Most of us diverse people are unusually strong, we have unusual physical strength even if we're small. Why do you think that is?
Me personally I think it's the Most High, Creator of all Creations Source of All Life don't like people messing with us, that drink water & mind our business & We don’t like being extracted/jolted out of our natural state of calm. Basically we don’t like being disturbed, as nature is our natural form of entertainment watching insects, birds, squirrels, the clouds, the sky, the grass, the trees etc. Things that take our attention away from that better be good otherwise we get well grumpy.
What do you think?
Cantankerous is my favourite word😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Wargoat is no2😊😆😆😆😆😆😆
Many thanks for this. You've answered a lot of my questions.
This is so real
such sacred meaningful words here Rabbi.. sincerely appreciate, like truly, truly so, your leveling commentary arising from your epic, ancient faith.. SO refreshing☺️, literally like a cool stream! this was so helpful to a former blacksheep raised within a pack of narcissists😖😖.. i am much better now!😁😁
“the weakness is the strength”… POW 💥 soo good!! small talk of nuerotypical peeps, is often soooo tedious.. i just love this teaching video Rabbi!! so refreshing and enlightening and compassionate 🙏🏻🙏🏻
alostatic load 💥 POW 💥 never heard this b4.. good grief, i AM exhausted by this “life”… the limitations by my embodiment are truly challenging… and WOW Rabbi, i HAVE been accused of being mean 😵😵.. in fact i am on anti-angry mental meds.. they definitely help.. and i was an addiction victim too.. got through all that and free for almost 10 years now.. this has been SO helpful! i am being so validated, educated and relieved by this video!! thank you 🙏🏻 thank you 🙏🏻
love the connectedness with God suggestion …. that has been my saving grace all along and now i am truly leaning into God, Jesus, the Holy Spirit.. even quantum mechanics too☺️😁..connecting on the spiritual level and learning about other cultures and traditions and sacred religions.. this is the stuff of a fascinating world to my mind and to my soul… wow, your video has inspired me to share so many comments to you!! hope that is okay!?… 😁😁
❤
Something the rebbe said to me when i complained about the actions of people in the community. He told me to look at the ideals not at the people
This explains why i feel so upset about ideals not being followed and no one understands
I remember the rebbe crying because he cared so much about what was going on in israel and others were not affected. Same idea of being on a higher spiritual plain so seeing the world not as it should be, causing pain at seeing this.
Neurotypical can be summed up as a mass agreed upon /conformity. It's wise to explore, expand and grow beyond the status quo / "norm" in order for humanity to evolve. Love your videos and thought provoking, spiritually reflective content. Thank you!
I've found myself blessed by a husband who mostly understands me. Other than him, I have only one true friend because I just cannot bear the social games. Thank you for making this video and articulating my experience; it's quite validating.
Well you got a lot!!❤very dynamic moving lecture first off what a great mom she knew binah cutting out that shirt label you were a sensitive (senatorial) learning child
Two schools such as bais shammai snd bais halal defined each have their strengths and purpose in the divine plan I love them both one guards us protects us on our way and the other comforts us releasing us from life’s
Harshness in Kabbalah I learned all the light vessels crashed into shards but only the dark vessels survived some may say your talking over your head there is a reason for all of us and the moishe will held heal us and that law dome of us squirm under is nothing more than a protective mantle he had laid upon us for our
safety in love❤
blessing to hear them so put into the balances
Some Rabbi said sonething to the effect that when a person turns away from from other people, is when they start dying. Heavily paraphrased.
🙏❤️🙏
IT ALL FITS. your 12 STEPS: this IS from the one year book of SAINTS BY REV CLIFFORD STEVENS: MARCH 30 SAINT JOHN CLIMACUS LADDER OF PERFECTION (KLIMAX - the ladder" # G-D as you understand him. proverbs 12: (steps) verse 4 step 4 "made a searching and fearless moral inventory of ourselves. Step 12 having had a spiritual awakening as a result of these steps we TRIED to carry this message to others and practice these principles in all our affairs. I'M STILL TRUDGING THE ROAD TO HAPPY DESTINY!! G-D BLESS YOU RABBI FOR YOUR SOULWORDS. THE WORLD IS ON STEP 2 "CAME TO BELIEVE A "POWER GREATER THAN OURSELVES "COULD" RESTORE US TO SANITY.
Finally 😢 my people neurodiverse😊
many of the men I know who struggle with addiction have ADHD.
I think the link needs to be studied more. There’s definitely something there.
I have been in denial of this about myself for a long time but I noticed over the past year or so that, despite how Vlodomor Zelensky talked publicly, many people seemed sympathetic to him while sympathetic to Palestinians. It made no sense - Putin supports a Palestinian state and frequently travels to Muslim countries but alas, no. I have a strange brain and it seems to be occurring more frequently in the world.
Can i just say, diversity and divergence arent the same.
thank you, yes
Beis Shammai's idealistic, heavenly view makes him blunt which can be considered impolite by neurotypical individuals. He has high expectations and sees the potential vs sometimes disappointing actual. To navigate many adopt "masking". Aside from the "permission slip" and actively yearning for the Moshiach reality what else can one do to cope?
Yes, Hebrew is important. Also, if we can get bookmarks on the video. I would volunteer to do it
You mean you would write time codes of chapter sections? Post them in a comment and I can put them into the description.
I ate raw potatoes and salt as a child.
What about connecting spiritually with all humans, rather than narrowing it down to all Jews? Would that work?
I’m making videos for all people so that should kind of answer your question, yes?
I could be my son's allostatic load. That's a very uncomfortable thought
So then help him. Help alleviate that load a little bit. It can be done in small ways that will make a bug difference. Learn more about his stress points and accommodate where possible.
People throw Around these labels like autism ect, not by diagnosis because somebody said it , INSANITY . I have empathy for people I don't understand
What u do is amazing
That’s nice of you to say
27:40 to 28:09.
This sums up my whole dilemma with God, like it’s not that I’m suicidal. It’s the fact that I have to put myself through more unnecessary stress because of embodiment. I’m so done with it and I’m only 24 yrs old.
Also, thank you for this video. After watching the one about scapegoating and neurodivergence, the neurodivergence topic got stuck in my mind. Revisited it, and this has healed and expanded many things that I did not know I needed to hear about. 🩶
