the Top 50 Highest Scoring Eurovision Songs of All Time (up to 2015)

- A list of the 50 highest scores in the history of Eurovision.
This video was made in 2015, before the 2016 changes to the voting system where the amount of points was calculated in a different way. The ranking is purely based on the amount of points that an entry scored. Because the 12-point system has only been in use since 1975 and more countries have been introduced to the voting pool over the years, this list obviously leans towards the newer songs. Although not without a few surprises!
If two acts have the same amount of points, they have been ranked according to their final score and then chronologically by earliest year, following the logic that due to the increase in the amount of voting countries, receiving 180 points would be easier in 2014 than it would have been in 2004. - Hudba
It's simple, the Nordic countries are the best!
They often have good entries... but they also have one of the best voting blocs.
The best at voting for their neighbours 😂
When Alexander Rybak won ESC I was 7 years old... I love him forever...
me too ❤
and I hated him
I hate him
and I wil hate forever
same omg
Same over here! I was fascinated by the dancers! But whenever I wanted to listen to his songs I realized that I had forgotten his name and my big brother would never tell me because he didn't like the song.

I love Polina from Russia)
2009, 2013 and 2015 best years
+geminix365 2006, 2008, 2007
Also 2010 and 2012
Haha, forever alone 2011 and 2014
+geminix365 i think 2014 was good
+Peter Sagmeister The stage was great in 2014
I will never stop loving Kalomira and her song
k i d z b o p f o d d e r
Azerbaijan 2011 won with 221 points - 43 countries
UK 1997 won with 227 points - 25 countries. Hmmm...
Ireland 1996 won with 226 points - 23 countries. Hmmm...
2011 songs were worst in the history of eurovision. I don't know why: maybe good singers were sad by maNga's 2nd place or fact that Germany is country from "Big Five".
Alexander Rybak will always be the king of Eurovision
Always
Stella Al. and Loreen the Queen ❤💟
Then came Jamala and Portugal...
assapagan Jamala and Alexander Rybak.
Salvador Sobral actually right now.. With 758 points
Still think and believe that GRANDE AMORE (IL VOLO - 2015 ) was the best Eurovision song ever !!
Very beautiful opera song sung by 3 excellent voices: Grande Amore is masterpiece ! My 2nd fave Eurovision song !!!!
Grande Amore is biggest shit.
Running Scared, Fairytale and Fairytale are my favorite eurovision songs to this day.
"Fairytale and Fairytale"
Scandinavia owns EC!
Nina Dominique No Norway and Sweden does
Denmark has 3 or 4 wins, Norway has 2. So Denmark and Sweden do.
Nikolaj Buller Norway has three wins
+Create THE Action There are only 3 Scandinavian countries, and you mentioned two of them. Denmark also does decently, provided they send something listenable, so let's just call it Scandinavia.
this video is seriously amazing! I applaud you for taking the time to make this!
So you've openly admitted that this top 50 is biased towards recent years, particularly 2004 onwards when countries eliminated in the semi-finals as well as finalists voted in the final. The best way is to work out the maximum achievable score each year since 1975, calculate each country's score for that year as a percentage of the maximum possible score for that year and include the 50 songs with the highest percentages in your video collection.
Take Sweden's Euphoria 2012. Sweden won with 372 points that year, but with a possible maximum of 12 points from each of the other 41 countries (including the 16 semi-finalists which failed to qualify), i.e. 492, Sweden won with 75.6% of the maximum possible score. The record for the winner with the highest percentage of the maximum possible score since 1975 still rests with United Kingdom - Brotherhood of Man "Save Your Kisses For Me"; 80.4% in 1976.
thinking about it Azerbaijan was a terrible winner when countries managed to get higher with half the amount of voting countries. 2011 had the most participants ever with 43 people. 221 for a win is really bad
+TumbleTower Of course, this is all very true. Similarly, a list could be made for the most amount of twelve points received, and one could be made for the highest percentage of 12 points received, but they would be listing different things. Various different metrics could be applied when creating a list like this; the choice made here was just to focus on the scores itself, not so much on what those scores are worth within their time period. Perhaps it's a subject for another countdown.
+brittany watts Could not agree with you more I hated that song, although nearly every other song Azerbaijan have entered I feel would have been a more deserved winner for them
+TumbleTower b
+European Gold I have the feeling Azerbaijan government passed some serious bribes somewhere or bribed people to vote for them so they could host the competition in 2012. It's a bit odd they placed in the top 10 when they entered the contest, but when bribery scandals emerged, they started to perform badly, the last two years they didn't crack the top 10...
Farytale is the best song ever singed in esc.
Billy Murray fan yes!!
Rybak was simply the best:-)
Well Alexander deserves to be the first on this list
I still cannot believe how Azerbaijan won in 2011. But then again, it was a very strange year....
+Sitho1970 exactly, I'm from Azerbaijan and I think this is the worst that won ESC. Our song in 2012 was way better than this one . (P.S. I don't think the song is bad , just not the winner type )
+dickwintered me too! 2009 was better!
I'm not from Azerbaijan but I liked their entry as the winner.
All the highest points were spread among many countries while Azerbaijan was one of the countries who recieved the middlepoints - therefor Azerbaijan won XD
Azerbaijan this year get only 3 12 points
I am proud of my country's entries because of to be in the places of 19, 25 and 33. Zeljko, Rybak, Lorak, Bilan and Polina were very gooood!!!!
Time to update this!!!
Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Russia, Serbia, Ukraine, some old irish songs and a few other...that´s europe's taste
+Magnus Winge AUSTRIA !! 290 points in 2014 !!
a few other...yes. In my opinion the most overrated winner since Riva 1989
Magnus Winge no ! Rise like a phoenix is an anthem , a precious and wonderful bond Theme
+ATHYNA sanchez Italy 292 points in 2015!
Serbia as well.
Excellent video! Congratulations!
When I think of Eurovision , I think of either ABBA or Johnny Logan , always will :-)
is johnny Logan Irish ?
+sean miles Yes he is. Sang two eurovision winning songs and wrote another one that came 2nd.
+Niamh O'Sullivan he wrote two songs for Lynda Martin - Terminal 3 and Why Me
Me 2 if I heard eurovision I think ABBA
I watched the whole video only to find "Fairytale"!!!
Same ❤❤
Same
Great video. Thanks for spending time to make it. :-)
Nice work!
Belgium 2015. Loic. 4th placer with the highest vote. :)
very nice video!
Too much awesomeness in this video! I LOVE soo many songs. :)
I wonder if anyone will ever beat Rybak
Very soon. Maybe Sweden 2016.
George Delavinias no, I dont think sweden will win this year, but yea some day im sure, just a question when,
+Didrik Gustafsson He means that it will be beaten in 2016's contest in Sweden, due to the new voting system.
+Filli Milly exactly
Filli Milly George Delavinias yea now that the voting system is out whole top 3 will probably beat rybak, but haha u didnt mean that lol since u made that comment 2 days prior to the new voting system was even revealed
very nice job, thnx!
It's funny because throughout the history of the competition Norway has so many last places and yet overall has the first place with Rybak :)
I LOVE
-Iceland(2009)
-B&H(2006)
-Ukraine(2008) ++
-Greece(2005)
-Austria(2014)
Aritz_94 I only hit the like button for Iceland and Greece. The rest didn't appeal to me much.
wow - thanks for that my daughter and I had fun watching this and dancing round the lounge and agree with your no 1 thanks youxx
JAN KENCH wow. That's awesome! Mother and daughter watching Eurovision video on youtube. Me and my mother would probably never do that.
I see you have done big work
Gave this one a like for the amazing quality on the clips. Although the "ranking" otherwise is rubbish, as TumbleTower pointed out.
I hate the new voting system. Either way, Rybak is unbeatable. The true king
Wasn't unbeatable this year. They ate him alive in the final.
not unbeatable
Still cant beat them cause only what matters is voted from people and still are low
Nobody cares Harriet Minns
If you convert 2017 to the old systems, Portugal isn’t far off!!!
Great this video👍👍

I think "My number one" is one of the best winning songs ever :) Many people don't know the singer is Swedish though :3
Play2Game2What I think she was born there but she is greek. her name is Helena paparizou and it is a greek name both her first and last name
Yeah, she was born and raised in Sweden but both her parents are greek :)
Play2Game2What she is Greek
Helena is half swedish
Kevin Forsberg ψυχ
Conchita, loreen and Alexander are definition of talent.
i hope you'll make a new video after this years eurovision!
YAAASSSSS HADISE - DUM TEK TEK STILL MY FAVORITE ENTRY ♥
i love your top! ♡Aleksander Rybak
Jeroen- can we please have a version of the worst scoring songs? Cheers
+jacklucien I've thought about it, but I'd have to figure out a good way to rank all the "nul points"-entries against each other. It's also a bit tricky to determine whether finishing last in the final is worse than staying in the semi-finals. But I'll definitely take a look at it after this year's contest!
+Eurovision Division I just feel like Jemini and Ann Sophie deserve to be on some sort of scoring list :P
+jacklucien and twin twin
+Eurovision Division I think you disqualify the nul points
+Eurovision Division you could count down bottom 50 and then have a medley with all the 0 points
Good idea and a lot of work >.< :D
LOREEN 👑🇸🇪
NORWAY:THE REAL QUEEN OF THE ESC. THE BEST COUNTRY
+Julius Sheldon Ireland hasn't had a good song since the 90s, so...
@@NathalieHoranhow could you forget jedward in 2011 and 2012 /j
Good idea for a different type of Eurovision video :D
Just a question:in case of tie, which entry you consider higher?
There was an old rule that the one who had more 12 points would won, if they had the same quantity then they counted the 10 points. That's how Sweden won in 1991. But the actual rules say that if there's a tie, the country that was voted by more countries would won. :)
hiii how did you make this i love ittt :D
Ι have to say that, that video could easily stand as "Eurovision Best Songs in History"♥All of my faves were in here!
so glad my favourite song is first, one of the few songs that actually deserved to win 😊
Il volo
Azerbaijan in 2009 is propably my all time favourite Eurovision song. 12 points from Finland! :D
I really love the typo and style you're using on Video. Congrats!
On the other hand,
I think honestly, we should not compare scores because are diferent eras. Same with tops that i see below. Denmark 2000 cannot be compare with Sweden 2015 for instance.
Greetings!
I just understand that is only a ranking with highest scores!! Sry! (I didn't read Title!! Hahaha)
good video, but don´t you get any problems with copyright ? or how du you made it ?
Polina gets more points than almost 90% of winners xD
ESCAren Polina is a queen!!!
I mean there were 27 countries instead of 26 so that could be a reason. But I prefer Polina over Måns.
Alexander Rybak most deserving winner ever :D
0:06, 1:13, 1:47, 3:28, 4:32, 4:48, 5:07, 5:24, 5:44, 5:57, 6:49, 7:54, 8:25, 8:42, 8:54, 9:39, 9:51, 10:05, 10:18, 10:31, 10:46, 11:04, 11:38, 11:54, 12:08, 12:42, 12:58, 13:19 my favorite songs
omfg YES! Fairy tale #1 !
And now are 3 higher: Russia with 411, Australia with 511 and Ukraine with 534 pts XD
George 090 Yeh, but since it's a different scoring method, we shouldn't compare too much right? Alex is #1 of old scoring method :)
+George 090 In new scoring system Alexander would have 690 points, so what are we talking about?
That winning Song from Serbia 2007 just gets better the older it gets.
Also I would like to point out that the 50th placed song in this video (Russia) Dina should NOT be there instead Dana International should be there instead as she is a winner with also 174 points. just saying
YEAHH Molitva really stands in time SO WELL !!! it aged so well, it's a classic song now and my fave Eurovision song !!!
Dana got 172 points.
Wow, you beat me to it. I was going to make a video for all Eurovision songs that scored 200 points or more. And this video trumps that. Cheers for Dima Bilan, though. Lucky guy got double 200+ hits.
(P.S. Did anyone make a video based on maximum possible score? If not, I want in.)
+JERealize And that Serbian guy from "Nije Ljubav Stvar" He was the only other one who scored more than 200 points twice, but I mentioned Dima Bilan first because he actually won.
Maximum possihle score (of 50 countries is: 600 p)
Actually you're wrong. If there are 50 countries voting in the contest, then the total score would be 588 because a country cannot vote for itself.
+JERealize Yes. (Thanks for fixing my mistake! :D )
no problem.
Pretty cool that the oldest one on the list is from my country. At least I think so. I'm talking about Sandra Kim.
Željko Joksimović is The Best!
30. Željko Joksimović (singer & composer) 3rd in 2012. (214 pts)
22. Željko Joksimović (composer) 3rd in 2006. (229 pts)
12. Željko Joksimović (singer & composer) 2nd in 2004. (263 pts)
In total: 706 pts!!!
Bonus:
11. Marija Šerifović (singer) 1st in 2007. (268 pts)
Greetings from Serbia.
Can you do one of JESC too? :)
2015 is my favorite year so far and the fact that the Top 6 made it to this list is awesome. i just wish Estonia 15 would be here too but they were waaay behind Aminata.
Manga - We could be the same ?
Yeterince puan almamış bu listeye girmek için anlayın şunu
will it be early for adding Poli Ğenova and Sergey Lazarev, sure they will make 1-2 in 2016 ESC
Bulgaria and Russia stomping
The best coutries in this top:
Russia,Sweden,Ukraine,Azerbaijan,Denmark.
I think you could add Serbia, Greece and Turkey.

01. Fairytale - Alexander Rybak - Norway 2009
I've put some research and work into finding out how the 2016 songs would have placed if the old voting system had been in use.
These songs would have made it to this video:
#4: Australia/Dami Im - Sound of Silence (314 points)
#12 or #13: Ukraine/Jamala - 1944 (268 points) [Serbia 2007 got the same amount of points]
#34: Russia/Sergey Lazarev - You Are The Only One (211 points)
#49: Bulgaria/Poli Genova - If Love Was A Crime (180 points)
Hence Denmark 2001, Belgium 1986, Latvia 2002 and Armenia 2014/Russia 2013 would be pushed out of this list in favor of these four entries
What Video Editor are you using ?
Sweden's Eric Saade!
Il Volo ❤❤❤
Can we recognise that 44 has a pokeball in the background
As I was saying, you beat me to it, but we could make a sort of addendum to this. I have the data charts you used, and I could make a 100-52 list (since there is a tie for 50, I'll only count up to 52).
This would include all songs that scored 145 points or greater, up to 173, in which after that all is covered by this video.
(Weird fact: While some songs did score 145 points or 143 points, no song has ever scored 144 points.)
Notable entrants include the winners of '75, '76, '78, '82, '84, '87, '90, '91, '92, '95, '96, and 99, PLUS the Top 3 for 2003, the Top 4 for 1998, #2-5 of 2010, #3-6 of 2005, and #4-7 of 2006 (edging out #6 of 2015 as the lowest-ranked song mentioned in the Top 100 list).
Those who wouldn't make the list (and scored only 143) include the winner of 1980 (Johnny Logan's first song, "What's Another Year?"), #6 of 2010 ("Me and My Guitar"), and #5 of 2014 ("Running" by Andras Kallay Saunders).
So I'd like to know if I (or we) can make this happen.
(BTW is my math wrong?)
+JERealize There's always room for more! I figured 50 songs would already make for a big list so I stopped there. I had the list figured out from 160 points upwards (the Top 75), but I was too committed to avoiding ties in the ranking and the 4 songs scoring 170 points and the 4 songs scoring 164 points just made it a bit too tricky for my liking. It is interesting how some scores have never occurred at all.
Either way, don't let me stop you from making a video! The Division does not have a monopoly on rankings, stats or joke videos!
The thing I would have done is figured out how to break the ties first by determining how many countries had voted during that particular ESC. The ones who had less countries participating in voting would be ranked higher; in the case of 164-pointers from bottom to top would be 3/2003 (with 26 countries voting), 2/1993 (with 25 countries voting), 2/2002 (with 24 countries voting), and 1/1976 (with 18 countries voting).
Afterward...yeah the 170-pointer rule does look more complicated to decipher. As it isn't said when the tie-breaker rule changed between 1991 (when Sweden beat France) and 2008 on any easily-accessible sites, we wouldn't know how to fix 2004's tie placement. HOWEVER, I took the work to scan through rules for each year's ESC (using what is archived in www.myledbury.co.uk), and here's what it said for 2002:
"Should there be a tie for first place, the Grand Prix shall be awarded to the song that has obtained the highest score (12 points) the most often..." (This starts the tie-breaker with the count-back procedure.)
This changes in 2003:
"Should there be a tie for first place, the Grand Prix shall be awarded to the song that has obtained points for the highest number of countries. If the songs received votes from the same number of countries, then the highest number of 12-point scores shall qualify..." (This starts the tie-breaker with the "most countries" procedure before working on the count-back procedure.)
Assuming that the tie-breaker rules haven't changed elsewhere between 1988 and today, then after assigning 4th to 2/2010 and 3rd to 5/2006 then Cyprus (with 32 countries backing it) would beat Sweden (with 30 countries backing it). Also, with the divide in place between 2002 and 2003, it's impossible for a tie to surpass the "overall countries who voted in the ESC those given years" rule so it would conflict with those two specific tiebreaker rules, since there have always been 25 or less countries voting pre-2003 and always 26 or more countries voting 2003 and beyond. Phew.
I ought to post this rule change on Wikipedia. I already have the sources.
someone did a good job!
Sweden always in top 3 in ESC ;) vi va la SVERIGE
not top 3 this year
+Saša Barrile beacuse of this dumb new system
Sweden would of placed 9th if it wasnt for this 'dumb new system'. Maybe a bit higher, but not top 3 or top 5
No, Sweden would come 6th if it wasn't for this 'dumb new system'.

8:55 YAY!
Il Volo!!!!! ❤🇮🇹👏🏼
Alexander Rybak is such a cutie.
Lexy MissGalaxy sorry, but he once said he's gay. I'm not sure if that's true, but yeah.
No, he isn't xd He has girlfriend
It's funny that all 00's winners
except from 2003 winner (Sertab Erener) appear on this top. It might be a tight competition that year. Really incredible she didn't get more points than anyone from this top.
shoulnd't it be rather in relation to the amount of countries to take part in the different years?
LOREEN!
I think it shouldn't be sorted by points, but by the percent of all the points which could be gained in the competition (twelves/max score from all the countries). That's why most of songs in this list are from this century...
It would be more interesting if it listed the top 50 scorers in terms of percentage of possible votes that could be awarded - then you would have Brotherhood of Man 1976, Nicole 1982 and Katrina in the top 5. I think Nicole would be 1st in front of Rybak.
YASS!! LORDI IN TOP5!! :D
Amen's tongue LORDI ARE KINGS OF EUROVISION!!!!
50 is so good!
Scandinavia really dominates the top of the list!
manga!!!!!????
A Million Voices and Secret Combination are my favorite of all time.
1.Azerbaijan 2013
2.Danimark 2013
3.Azerbaijan 2011
4.Norway 2009
5.Turkey 2010
6.Azerbaijan 2011
7.Greece 2012
8.Türkey 2009
9.Azerbaijan 2009
10.Cyprus 2012
No offense, but Ukraine has a rather weird selection XD
In my opinion, that's it what makes Ukraine one of the best Eurovision countries.
+Stefan Etienney That's why they are always on top. Except of course for their debut and 2012.
+HeJoDr Music Ukraine is THE BEST Eurovision country imo
George Austin Tay Ukraine and Sweden are my favourites ;) But I can't decide for 1 country. I also liked Norway, Slovenia and Azerbaijan in the last few years.
Edit: I forgot Italy :D
HeJoDr Music
I don't like how Sweden hasn't had a song with some personality since 1999. They always hop on the trend of the year and send a generic song with badly written lyrics and (except for Sanna Nielsen) a mediocre vocalist. I hoped they would up their game last year and send Jon, the Sami guy, but nope, they went for the David Guetta reject. I mean, they won and all thanks to the jury, but they seriously need to send songs with a bit of personality. Thanks for saying Italy which is my country I guess but I usually dislike our entries lol
Please update this list!!!
