Leeds had just beaten Manchester United in the 1965 FA Cup semi-final when Jack Charlton found out that he had received his first England call-up. Jack immediately went into the opponent's dressing room to tell his brother but Bobby wasn't too happy to hear the news at that time.

It’s a strange feeling for me. I’m English with a huge Irish background so I love this man for so many different reasons. Many people love this man for different reasons but what a legend he was to everyone. RIP our kid, English and Irish legend!
A legend at every club and country he touched. RIP Jack and thanks for all the wonderful memories.
Charlton is a collier
Big Jack over here at Ireland was like Klopp in his day, made everyone over here to believe.
@Ho Ho Ho nah la klopp is everything mate. Who's arsed about ireland like ye little wool. Use are shite
@@saltney17 I suppose that's why ye couldn't beat us from 88 to 96 and when we went ahead in 1995 your scum fans or 'combat 18' (such a gay name, what do you expect tho) kicked up a fuss and ripped up the chairs, and then proceeded to throw them in your own fans😂😂😂 Well the Saxons were never known for being bright. The English fans called him a snake and a traitor so ye relinquish all claim for being "proud" of him when ye say that. Biggest joke supporters ever. Anyway the Gardai knocked the shit out of yere wannabe Hooligans and sent them back to Holyhead. God Bless anyway and answer me this, Who put the ball in the English Net? (rhymes with Shmay Shmoughton)
@saltney17 takes a wool to know a wool
@@saltney17 that was completely uncalled for. I bet less people care about Liverpool than they do about Ireland then, eh?
@@chillipowder0169 you've never been liverpool mate ye little quilt

An Irish legend too
I lovely man ,a really genuine man’s man.The game truly misses people like jack.
Was a total legend
Dan Carter if football is pointless how have you found yourself watching this video then?
The 'Denis' Jack referred to in his story was Denis Law of course. Despite knocking seven bells out of each other on the pitch the two were actually good pals off the park.
RIP Big Jack! Let's do it for him, Norman and Trevor 💛💙
Hopefully we’ll have a statue of him in Ashington. True hero. Glad I was lucky enough to have met him
Him and his brother perhaps?
I wasn't born when England won the World Cup. I learned who Jack was when he was managing Ireland. Perhaps the biggest compliment I can give is that I was invested in their World Cup run even though I'm not Irish.
RIP Jack Charlton. True English and Irish legend.
Lovely story that. RIP Big Jack.
🇨🇮 🏴

Sleep well big man.
Brought a lot of joy to us Irish fans, when at the time, we hadn't much to be joyful about.
Were always either very unlucky or robbed in qualifying tournaments before Jack came on board.
We thank you for the memories !!!
Only football can bring two nations together like this 🏴 🇮🇪
Hello Adam, my name's Brian and i was born and raised in London, but i've lived in Dublin for a long time and i remember the summer of Italia 90, when this country got to the Q F of the world cup, the whole country came to a standstill, no public transport, no buses, no trains, i will never forget it! And Jack did that, wonderful memories, R I P Jack.
