Would you welcome please Mr Jack Charlton.

Another guest on the show is musician, songwriter and producer Phil Coulter who recalls when in 1970, he made a number one single ‘Back Home’ for the England World Cup squad and Jack Charlton was one of fifteen in the choir.
Just returned from Dubai where he saw a game between Everton and Rangers. He has recently been awarded the trophy for Irish Life Manager of the Year.

Earning £5 a week, he paid £2.50 for his board and sent £1 home. At 17, Jack signed full-time to Leeds United earning £18 a week earning more than his miner father.
Being from a mining village, I was very sympathetic with the miners.

What Jack said and did all of his life was to be greatly admired, Jack was a very great man, When Jack was going through the golden gates he asked St Pater is it of if I dump my little red book, the one with all the hard player's names on now, St Pered said, give to me I will have a ready through it and have a great laugh then I will hand it back to you after. Jack is now resting in eternal peace and fishing along heavens riverbanks and having the greatest time

So in the 50s a Championship footballer only earned twice as much as a manual wage.
    Wow. Things sure have changed.

@@jamesbradshaw3389 You must be joking right? Not much good times been had nowadays I'm afraid. Serious crime at an all time high, our open border zero criminal checks policy is destroying this country. Every person glued to screens, no social interaction anymore. Gender ideology being forced onto children. The lunatics have literally taken over the Asylum. Very sad times ahead I'm afraid 🙁

A polite welcome from the audience. Compare it to his appearance on the show after the World Cup in 1990. He's welcomed like Caesar : ) -czcams.com/video/Xt3VLxVeWI4/video.html
