  • Rescue teams are racing against the breathable air clock after noises were detected from the search area for the missing deep-sea vessel near the wreck site of the Titanic.
The US Coast Guard on Wednesday morning said: “Canadian P-3 aircraft detected underwater noises in the search area. As a result, ROV (remote operating vehicles) operations were relocated in an attempt to explore the origin of the noises.”
TalkTV’s Mike Graham is joined by The Sun’s Jerome Starkey to discuss the latest in the search for the missing submersible.
Jerome: “One of the things that haunts me is imagining, if they are stuck there alive, the conversations that must be happening in that metal tube.”

He said the worst case scenario was the sub imploded, I'd argue that's the best case for them because it'd be instantaneously and they'd feel nothing.
The actual worst case scenario is they're at the bottom trapped in the sub with no power, pitch black darkness, no food, 1 bottle of water each, likely freezing their asses off, hyperventilating and panicking, and slowly suffocating to death.

It’s why subs usually surface to send or receive messages and why when sharks are tracked, the information is sent when the fin breaks the surface or the tracker becomes dislodged and is recovered like a black box.

The former OceanGate employee, David Lochridge, was fired for refusing to greenlight manned tests of the submersible over safety concerns. There was never a test done with 5 people in the submersible at , let's say, 4.5 or 5 Km , it's very tricky to invent a hull that can withstand 4 Km while the Titanic is almost at that depth, you don't leave a lot of room. There was never a test done with 5 people for 96 hours straight, not in shallow water, not in the deep ocean. There are no rules, so anyone can build a sub and try to reach great depths. James Cameron went to 11Km , at his own risk, in his own invention. great 3D documentary, But when you take paying guests to these kinds of depths without testing anything that remotely simulates the dive is beyond me, and downright criminal, but they all signed and knew the risks.

Conversations? If they aren't dead already, I'd be really surprised if they hadn't killed that CEO already for putting them into that situation. I know they went of their own accord, but they trusted him to provide as safe an expedition as possible, to provide contingencies, to make certain that all of their systems were the best they could possibly be. They designed this death trap of a submersible to be bolted shut from the outside with no way of exiting in an emergency (what if they've surfaced somewhere in the ocean, but they can't get out, because there's no one there to unbolt the f-cking hatch?)
The sub's descent is controlled via text messages from the mothership with no remote backup control systems. From within the submersible, it's controlled by a $30 Logitech gaming controller. Their lives depend on a $30 controller that most gamers wouldn't even use. This ENTIRE ordeal was so poorly thought out and executed that I'm honestly SURPRISED this hasn't happened already. That these multi-millionaires and billionaires put their lives in the hands of such an incompetent group of people is beyond my comprehension.
Not to mention the fact that the company only has ONE submersible capable of those depths. So everything points to the disturbing truth that this company has no backup plan or contingencies in place in the event of a failure. None. Nothing. They simply were not prepared.

And there's every chance that the sub will never be recovered. Over time, strong seabed currents could easily sweep the sub away to any part of the bottom of the Atlantic ocean. You can't even picture what they must be going through down there. They're effectively buried alive, cold and alone in the darkness, surrounded by water, in a 20 foot coffin they themselves chose to be bolted and locked into. I dont think Titanic submersible dives are going to gain much popularity from this point on. The wreckage of that ocean liner and the people who went down with her 111 years ago should all be eternally left in peace.

There was a story that the (Titanic) was 'damaged' when it set sail and it was an 'insurance job' they knew it would sink - LLOYDS and would make more money allowing it to sink because fixing the ship properly would cost them too much. Some of the super rich that were due to go on board Titanic were sent advice ''''not to sail'''...... You never know what these companies are up to - These poor guys have gone down 13000 ft effectively in a bath tub an X box control pad, you couldn't make it up its so bad.

I would argue that the playstation remote is probably one of the safest parts of the sub: thousands of these things were produced over the years, distributed, used (and abused) all over the world. Using a game console controller in this context may sound outlandish at first, but it kind of makes sense since it's been thoroughly tested in the field.

At this late stage of remaining air supply even if they do find the sub there just is not enough time to get a ROV (remotely operated vehicle) to it and then some how attach cables then pull it to the surface. All this takes time which they don’t have.
