I've been wanting to talk about Lunacid for a long time, a game whose inspirations are worn on its sleeve. Taking from King's Field and Shadow Tower, Lunacid learns from those games and takes what made those games precious into its own refined thing.
It's honestly a really inspiring game and I would love more like this, and honestly more of whatever Kira puts out.

I can't speak for everyone, but I absolutely played every Kings Field game when they were brand new on the PS1. I loved the series, it was so unlike everything else I had ever played. The games had this very clear atmosphere despite it's very limited primitive 3D graphics. I loved them so much, that the only reason I even looked into Oblivion years later was because I thought the screenshots looked like Kings Field. And if I'm being honest, I haven't managed to figure out how to enjoy a Souls game yet because they aren't quite the same as Kings Field. I don't know why they won't click for me. So I'm pretty interested in this game.
They really are something special. I genuinely wish they'd make a new one, but I really doubt they will. Something about those games hit me in the right spot. Lunacid does an excellent job recreating a similar vibe to it.
And that's understandable. There's a clear lineage from KF to Souls, but they are dissimilar in a lot of ways.

Lunacid is one of the rare recent games I've played that I played just to PLAY IT and explore instead of playing to get to the end. Excellent video game! And excellent video! This is streets ahead from your previous videos and you'll only get better! Keep it up!
It was a genuine treat that I almost didn't record just so I could enjoy it at whatever pace I wanted. But I wanted more people to know how special this game is.

@@thewrongesttrousers The only reason it sticks in my mind is the music from that game has been hooked in my mind since I was a child. The guy that did it said he doesn't know how to read music. He says he did it all free hand. It's odd in a good way.
