Head bob is interesting to me cuz there really isnt any in real life. Yes your head bobs when you walk but your eyes are stabilized by your equilibrium so you dont ever notice the head bob, so having noticable head bob is actually unrealistic
It also gives me some motion sickness.
Makes you wonder if some people actually have real life head bob.
I couldn't play Shadow Warrior (the new one, not the original) for this exact reason. It literally made me motion sick.
It’s annoying af idk why they keep putting it in games lol
You have head Bob in real life. Our eyes don't stay focused on a single point the way they do in video games. So you don't notice it. Go try to catch a long flyball or catch a pass in a football game. As you're running with your eyes locked on that ball you sure as hell have head Bob.
But you're right. It had no place in video
games
The fact your hand gets chopped off in the beginning is such a brilliant way to explain away the floating weapon.
Just walkin' around with your own severed hand telekinetically slashing your enemies to bits...
I think I might love this game already.
That's not actually why you have the floating hand. The floating hand is just aesthetic, the chopped off hand is meant to explain why you can't use your offhand. This is also elaborated on with a shield which says "*usually* wielded in the offhand"
@@anoldbeggar9742 You know what? Fair, that's equally awesome explanation for a gameplay restriction heh.
@@CazadorSlayer I actually just bought this game the other day. Played a bit wgen I got it and then jad a fucking 10 hour binge yesterday and beat it. Recommend it if you haven't played it already. Only 7$ USD
@@anoldbeggar9742its 14$ now but its finally in 1.0 so there might be content you havent seen yet.
Lunacid is incredible and I’m stoked to see splat check it out! Also: If you love the King’s Field series and haven’t played Shadow Tower or Shadow Tower Abyss (which From also made and are a lot like King’s Field but meaner and scarier), then you absolutely should. Lunacid is actually closer to Shadow Tower than King’s Field, tbh.
its def more eternal ring then KF, wrote a review on it and omg this game is however awesome
Agreed, it's more of that heady surreal Shadow Tower vibe for sure.
i've never played the king's field series but i enoyed Lunacid so much that i just know they woulda wrecked my life at the time they first came out.
Glad someone else made the connection to Shadow Tower Abyss!
With all the souls games and clones, I really miss the Kings Field style dungeon crawlers like the ones you mentioned and even Eternal Ring. They had a charm of their own but my fave was always Kings Field 4/Ancient City. This game hit that nostalgia hard.
I am now convinced that you only play the hand the old man cut off in the beginning...
You are the Thing, looking for your body. Claiming kills in search for your own corpse.
i don't remember if the dev's weighed in on it, but that is a big theory going around the community as well!
9:40 I heard that originally people read out loud. Reading quietly to yourself is actually a relatively new thing, culturally. Probably from the increased literacy. It wasn't a big deal to read out loud when you were the only person who could read.
Well, it just take some 'extra curricular' practice (I mean, it is not hard but school doesn't teach it to kids) . But I do agree that reading in your head is different skill set than reading to yourself
The King's Field franchise hooked a special spot in my heart. My dad let a friend move in when I was a kid and he used a PlayStation as his first month rent, with a couple controllers, the memory card and a few games among them KF2. Years later when we get a PS2 and the Cursed City, which I didn't say the time was KF4?5? Any way much love and nostalgia for the franchise, would love remake Etc. Etc.
I'm happy to see RPG with FPP camera, especially when FROM stopped doing these types of games...
The King's Field series was awesome. i miss those kind of games so I'll have to check this one out.
I heard that this game has basically Insight mechanic from BB: by casting spells you accumulate Lunacy, and the more lunacy you have, the weirder and deadlier things become.
with fromsoft picking armored core back up im hoping they will eventually do the same for kingsfield. id love to see their modern take on the game
Side effects of Lunacid can include insomnia, drowsiness, constipation, blurry vision, disturbed sleep, motion sickness, excessive electrical bills, damaged keyboards and monitors, loss of familial and romantic relationships, or desire to consort and ally with dark powers. Talk to your streamer and ask if Lunacid is right for you...
I did take confessors too, because the class has 100% block psychical shield, and a heal spell as starting item. It give me fighting chance against grafted scion and i wanna role play as a paladin too
"Little known title called King's Field"
*Iron Pineapple has entered the chat*
fireside chat has also entered the room
The Weapon xp mechanic is such good game design. Nothing gets you to regularly use new different weapons quite like the potential of enhancing it into an even better weapon
This game is amazing! Glad you covered it :)
Been smashing this game out for a few days now and it's INCREDIBLE. I hope we get more Kingsfieldlikes in future that do really cool things with art/gameplay/lore etc
I know they're adding a little more to the final version of this game but damn several more levels isn't enough. I hope this developer feels compelled to build on this in future with a sequel or another successor.
And YEAH.... From Soft needs to do new first person RPG's again like Kings Field and Shadow Tower but with their amazing modern art style!!!
No way they got Alucard's voice actor (Robert Belgrade) to narrate the opening! Now that's comitment
One of my favs from last year. Excited for it to finally be finished!
I love it that you said your sense of anxiety was growing and mine was also kicking in and in that moment someone called me and I had a micro heart attack 😂
"Annihilating isopods with a farming implement" thats my favourite sentence so far this year
Dude, you didn't check behind the waterfalls that's gaming 101
Damn, there was the perfect opportunity to call yourself a murderologist when talking about those crows. I just bought this game, its got awesome ps2 vibes
Classes, classes in an RPG imply I can be a tank, good good
Also hell yeah! Play what's fun! Not what other people say is best!
Found a shield at the end, I'm sold
The world needs more games like this
love the atmosphere and the classic 3d grphic charm of my childhood
You just got a sub as soon as i heard you mention Kingsfield! Loved that game. Rock on!
Yo, a game I knew before splatty told me about. Lunacid is great!
Sheryl...the Crow...i see you guys. Nice one 👌
Wow- some real knowledge in the hidden references in there.
Sure no one else notices, but props to the devs!
Enjoyed this lil bout of adventuring very much
This gives me Ultima Underworld vibes in a good way. I've never played Kingsfield, tho.
Also: "corvidologist" is a thing.
This game looks amazing, gives off strong PS1 vibes
I love this! It feels like one of these obscure games released around the 2000s! Interesting and unique!
I.shat myself
This one looks fun as heck.
Hope you live-stream it once it's released!😊
Man I loved the King's Field games...
Great video as always.
Love this. More pls
20:00 so Splat met Sheryl Crow. :D
Cool looking game. The intro reminded me of legend of grimrock
Kingsfield=life
im playing this RN and i couldnt be happier
4:06 *Ding* Bring out your deaaad. *Ding* Bring out your deaaad. *Ding* Bring out your deaaad. *Ding*
Link is my most favorite dwarf.
Pearl Jam intro song:
Heyyyy yeahhh uh huh, newest of the fallen, uh huh take up your sword and fi-fi-fi-fiiiiight.
Ok just seeing to early snail enemy, the game goes on my wishlist
Say no to head Bob drives me mad
KINGSFIELD!!!!! LETS GOO
I'm the same in Souls-Like games, so much so that I found everything in Elden Ring in my 1st run.
Accurate portrayal of the Midlands
SHIT. Yet another Early Access game I need to buy after watching the Splattercat. I just sunk 20 hours into Dread Delusion cause of you!
As bad as things are, they could be worse. I think we should all be grateful that the dragon burped instead of farted.
that was pretty funny what you said about the type of person you are who moves his lips quietly when you read. lol or someone who sticks their tongue out when they do something that they have to concentrate on ahahahahahaha
Ooh. Getting King's Field vibes. Gonna have to look into that one.
The image on the manual looks like Sephiroth ripping a huge, glowing bong.
Came out on my bday. Good times.
I remember this game. Theres tons of secret doors in the game. I had a fun time walking along each wall pressing the activate button lol
"You can't be producing any foul, offensive stenches"
*me watching this on the toilet...
I absolutely loved King's Field. That's about as solid an endorsement of Lunacid as I can think of.
Intro Gives me Amiga vibes .Nice game
Wishlisted immediately
Yup. Purchased the game based on this video. I love this.
This game is amazing, at one point i accidently shot off a crossbow off a cliff and realized there was a secret invisible path to a high tier weapon and spell...and once you find the room with the casket, make sure you're ready, and climb in it, the Moonlight Sword awaits at the end of that challenge.
Nothing like rising from the ashes and corpses after falling great heights, with full health.
Looks fun!
A pixel perfect recreation of Wolverhamton and Yam Yams
That intro is basically Demons Souls
Wow i love this
Is there ever a time where you make bad content??? The answer is NO you always make top quality content!!!! keep it up my man
Man, you're really hustling. You're releasing vids everyday. Huge props👍
7:26 I sheiss you not, that is a definite schwert over there
Good game. Currently I am playing dusk, might give this a try after completing dusk
I love this game so much.
Well I live near the Midlands in the UK. I will keep and eye out for the dragon!
My first thought when i saw this game, Arx Fatalis.
I loved kingsfield, I remember my little brother watching play it.
Dusk Dude would be mega jealous of the ice sickle weapon.
This game definitely reminds me of Shadow Tower Abyss, which is a good thing.
Brooooo I remember this game
Bro, King’s Field 1 and 2! Loved them. I thought they were PS1 but maybe that was the first one.
I'm a simple guy, I hear someone say they love King's Field IV and I subscribe.
Monomyth seems pretty cool too btw.
"I assume that it's probably good that we have the heads off these things. I don't know what it ultimately affects, but it seems like they get a lot less aggressive when you cut their head off; as tends to be the natural order of things." ~ Splattercatgaming 4/2023
I dream of the day we get modern games in the kings field style. Kf2 will forever be my idea of a perfect game.
ThankYou SirSpla77
Splatter I know exactly what it's like having that overwhelming feeling to collect everything that is extremely hard to ignore, I often burn myself out on games about 1/2 to 3/4 of the way through the main story because I can't stick to main missions without getting distracted. I am having that problem right now with dying light 2, I feel like I'm 3/4 through the main story but I'm kind over it because I was just doing to many side missions and random activities that I would walk into on my way to a storey mission, 2 hours later I realise that I haven't done and story missions yet. It's really hard to stop myself playing that way.
Kings Field 1, 2, and 3 were on PS1, KF 4 was PS2
KF 1 was rough
Grim fantasy subterranean rpg is my fav game genre.
Dude, I have been on a Sprite Zero kick for the last 4-5 months. Dunno why, just happened and now I can't stop :)
This is a huge homage Shadow Tower and Shadow Tower Abyss. King's Field too, I suppose. The Shadow Tower games aren't quite the same as King's Field, they're a little more surreal and mysterious, albeit they do have similar gameplay. But the Scythe girl is a dead give away to which game they specifically wanted to emulate, which is Shadow Tower/Abyss. I am so glad the indie scene has finally moved into games like this. I hope the people making this have nothing but success.
100% agree that King's Field are the best From Software titles. I absolutely loved them so much and will definitely be checking out Lunacid. Thanks for the review!
Hell yeah King's Field
I'll keep an eye on this and pick it up when it's out of EA
Lunacid releasing oct 31 LETSGOOOOOOOOOO
Hahahaha, Sheryl the Crow... brilliant!
This is cool old, school graphics
my suggestions is add a map and be able to put the torch in the other hand
No Dragon, a big fish!
Had to pause the video to stop spoiling myself, turns out I had this wishlisted already. Easy enough choice to make lol.
IT'S KINDA LIKE ARX FATALIS ISH
LOOKS INTERESTING
0:28 YUP!!!
29:03 he blued balled us i wanna see screaming pottary
I'm very interested in this game, the more i watch the more i want, but you CAN'T change controls at all, apart from the extremely basic mouse settings, and that keeps me from even testing it. Changing controls is as basic as seeing video.
Definitely keeping an eye on it thought.
dev said he plans on making that an option, i think its just one guy deving this game
@@dariyanvalentine3564 oh man when he does i imagine magic will feel so much better.
@@dariyanvalentine3564 good to hear
Perhaps nowadays, but there have been good games that didn't need either.
I agree it's a nice feature though.
Man I know you don't really do playthrough really but would love a life or two played w the best creator
That would be a oar fish, not a eel.
Heavy Eternal Ring vibes.
