In 2021 it was pretty clear all weekend Mercedes had the car. Max was over driving the Red Bull and that's why that lap is so legendary. Everyone watching was wondering how he was doing what he was doing. But he overcooked his tires in sector 3 and it didn't stick in that last corner. He was up almost 0.4s. Crazy lap.

either way the good thing is that 1 day in the near future we will no longer have 1 team dominating so badly possibly as early as 2030 because the cars will end up becoming that fast to the point that it will become almost undriveable due to the fact that we humans for 1 have a limit at how fast that we can process information and in f1s case like going through the corners at ridiculously high speeds going left right left right right left left right etc with so many walls very close by like how we see in this video like how many times Verstappen came within a centimetre of hitting the walls and for 2 as the cars get faster and faster and faster and faster the g forces only get higher and higher and higher which means that it puts more and more and more strain on the body as well@@qksf1645

The 2021 non-pole and now the 2024 Jeddah pole will remain my "have you ever seen an F1 qualifying lap? Well, watch this then" moment.
The way he hits (and not just him but other drivers as well) the T6 apex from a blind double corner with one steering input is mad. All this while pulling probably upwards of 4G, travelling 265km/h, centimeters from the wall, maximising not only the front tyre grip but rotating the car by sliding the rear end. I have long lost the will to comprehend how insanely good these drivers are. It's like gazing into the stars at night. Frankly speaking it pisses me off.

Hamilton in 2021 pole was 0.5 faster than Max in S3, so if max would have completed the lap, probably his time was around 1:27.15 - 1:27.3. In other words, his lap in 2021 was from another galaxy.

It can be seen that in 2021 Verstappen took the penultimate corner before the last DRS faster and more aggressively, while in 2023 he ended up losing track a little, losing at least 1 to 2 tenths. Until the end of the last DRS, Max was around 2 to 3 tenths ahead of his 2023 fastest lap. The talent this driver has is absurd, worthy of being certainly one of the best in history.
