The way EA talks about apex really shows that they could not care less about the game itself and just want as much money squeezed out as possible, which is expected but like damn

We keep getting events where you have to basically gamble to get a skin or a death box because all the content creators keep buying them for their videos. It’s not the normal people. It’s the streamers.
I cant wait for ea to realize that lowering the prices for heirlooms and skins will end up selling way more, and the fact that if they add advertising apex will lose like 50% of their playerbase, let alone streamers who aren't sponsored by those ads
I did quit Apex a few weeks ago cause of the unreal amount of cheaters and smurfs in this game (very surprising, when you make a game with a trash AC free to play) and now I am thankfully never starting again.
Imagine each time you wanna pop a battery in Apex a small hologram pops out of the battery and shows you an unskippable ad

In the span of one map rotation, I had shiv in 2 of my games, and was killed by #8 Revenant and #8 Wattson, this is border line retarded, I’ve never even hit masters in a non-easy season. I be seeing players less skilled than me getting the 20 badge just because they get easier lobbies.
But they still haven't made anything better for new players.......u get a few bot games at start........that won't teach u anything cause u can literally go as reckless and carefree as u want, miss 50% of ur shots and u u will still solo and entire team of bots unscathed............but then right in normal matches u don't get chances to get better either cause if u land at corner of map nobody lands at u will loot the whole game, and find nobody till the end, and once u reach the end u just die to sweats...........and if u drop where people usually land prepare to before u even press the trigger to shoot the enemy they, sweat and kill u in 2sec with smg, and then take out the rest of ur team in 10 more sec......and the. U see there card with there 50000 kills and 900wins

If they are just putting billboards up in the game with the ads, then I'm not too worried, but if I'm gonna be forced to watch a 30-second ad when I start a game or die or something then I'm out!
i think it's really important to understand that "not meeting expectations" absolutely does not mean that apex is making a small amount of money, or even making less than it has in previous years, it's simply just stating that the number is not growing exponentially, just like we saw a few weeks ago with the ceo of Microsoft closing major studios bc they aren't making the same amount as they did during the pandemic. capitalism will ruin anything you love, including apex the moment investors don't see it as an infinite money glitch

They mention making the game more new player friendly with ltms, but that's not the reason this game isn't new player friendly! The sbmm is. The groupings just aren't working correctly, leading to new players getting stomped into the ground from the start by preds and masters players. My first game out of bot lobbies in season 19, I was placed against a pathfinder with 200k kills on just that legend. In an ideal sbmm, the 20 bomb and 4k badges would be extremely rare, and the fact that just about every lobby seems to have one shows that the game allows super sweaty players to destroy casuals and noobs waaaaaay to often. This would also fix some of their financial issues, as there are players like myself, who enjoy some apex, but don't want to spend money just to look good to the preds who shit on me.
Apex trios and duos DOES NOT use sbmm though. They use eomm (engagement-optimized matchmaking) which is way worse. It's essentially the same system as what slot machines use to keep players hooked. You get stomped multiple times then rewarded with a match that seems easier because you're out in with worse players.
There’s around $500 USD of cosmetics in the shop first week of season 21. How about some actual gameplay over cosmetics?

"It isn't making as much money as they want" - the prices are too high. They have always been too high. If the prices were lower people would spend more. I would have bought loads of the skins over the years if they weren't price gouging the fuck out of everything.

Maybe because we didn’t listen to the community or we didn’t fix bugs or we discontinued heirlooms for sandshovel swords or maybe because of something else. One the many issues that not many talk about is the 20 tic rate servers and the microtrasation. EA is a poison for Respawn and the old guard that is left.
The more they show us they have no intention of making the game better and would rather focus on making expensive ass cosmetics the more the playerbase resents them. Why would people spend money on a game that they don't enjoy? It's kind of telling when they patch shop issues in moments but ignore bugs/balance issues for weeks. You gotta focus on making THE GAME fun, not the shop.
The problem is, EA put out things like the Katar 'heirloom' OR the Busker Sword and charge WAY TOO MUCH for it, but then a RIDICULOUS amount of people buy it. This is telling EA that people like these kind of events and so they keep doing them. I hate stuff like this personally, but the community who buy all this BS are the reason we are going to get a lot more of it.

I feel like the only way they’d be able to meaningfully add any advertisement without completely ruining apex could potentially be putting them on the champion screens, like it switches to the champion, an ad, then the champion’s squad.
They real said, “we’re not selling as many cosmetics, I’m sure this has nothing to do with making every skin concept we come up with in order to fill up more events. Better add more events!”
There already is advertisements in apex. Look at the news tab it always has ads for apex shop
There will be screens in game (during match) just like the way the match champion is shown. But this will show the advertisement.
Didn't expect to hear GTA Online soundtrack
It's wild to me that they don't realize that removing the "you HAVE to buy packs to get the skins you want" model is the best way for them to start making more money. If they'd keep packs as a purchasable option but allow us to not HAVE to spend $600 to get the skin we want and literally gamble on it, we'd buy more stuff because we'd be ABLE to get more of what we actually want. Most of us aren't going to buy a 10 pack bundle for the chance of getting the single item we want. The people who can do, but the majority of us can't and won't.

6:02 thats actually an nice touch, that you can shoot the ad if you don't like it and destroy the whole sign with the shot. But only when you can do it or when it is atleast very well placed in. I will not continue playing any EA games if they put video ads in their games like youtube does on their videos.
Without adblockers, i would have quitted watching youtube or twitch years ago. The only reason i stay is because i can block the ads without needing to spend money on a service that just removes - or only reduces - ads.

I am a noob on apex and when I'm playing solo I am always killed by someone level 150+ or with the 20 kills badge... I am not having so much fun right now tbh
I wouldn't even consider myself that new or low level and I have an equivalent experience with this mode.
Just killed ruthlessly by players who are absolutely insane just gobbling up the whole lobby
I worked at EA nearly 20 years ago now and they were trying to implement live advertising into Battlefield 2 and 2142 all the way back then. And it functioned fine in test.
No idea why it’s taken them so long to pull the trigger, EA loves money!
The only reason these type of events “made more money” was because it’s so expensive. There’s too many people with too much money to spend on BS in games

Clearly they have made apex more appealing to the new and casual player because, in the span of 1 map rotation I had shiv in my games twice, was killed by #8 Revenant and #8 wattson. That’s excluding all the other preds and near max levels that are also in my games. SBMM is fucked, solos is making it bearable, if this was trios I’d quit, but it’s still tiring to be in the top 0.1% of lobbies, I’ve never even gotten master in a non-cheese season. If there was no SBMM and I’d be going up against the average, solos would be cancer to new and average players, they’d quit. I’d be having more fun but what’s the money of 1 long time player when you can get thousands times more from newcomers who are exponentially worse yet have a similar win rate.
Imo, if they add the ads like in battlefield to apex, where they’re there but not obnoxious, then I think it would be fine, but also if it means the rest of the game can get more polish, I’m all for it. Also it seems to me like they’re realizing that if the rest of the game sucks, no one will buy the stuff in game, so they’re focusing on making the game better, which I think is a win

If they put adds in game they better be giving away in game currency when you watch them. Though we know they won't. Plus if they don't give something for watching the ad I'll go out of my way to avoid the product.
Adding ads to the game would be okay if they were optional things (example, watching an ad for some crafting materials and the ad recharges every couple of matches you play)
But forcing actual ads in the middle of my gameplay is going to make me quit this game.
I don't understand how they don't realize people would spend more money, if things were cheaper. 40$ for a gun skin is straight up stupid. If it was 10-15$ per skin people would spend MUCH more, its easier to pay 10-15$ a couple times a month than 40$-60$ every few months.

If sales go down, they won't try to save it, they won't try to make a creative decision to sell products in-game. They just will shut it down eventually.

What exactly would the problem about advertisement in a Free to play Game be? If it’s like the cod/battlefield ones, where you don’t have to watch an add but you can see them on a map it doesn’t hurt your game experience right?

As someone eho loves apex, but also knows ads are pushed to far and arent valid at all no matter what, if apex or any EA game gets ads, none of them willbe played, and the person who made the decision will be barred from any business, help, and shunned entirely until they hopefully change there minds or get rid of the probl that is them personally.

The funny thing is that most of the stuff to buy right now is really not that great. The gambling method to acquire things is really annoying. I like Vantage and that skin was almost good, but someone had to put pink spikes on it. Caustic is supposed to be the desirable skin due to a 3% chance of getting that skin, but who would want to? I grinded to get the flatline skin last season, so outright buying the new red one seems like a waste (although my time is worth more than I played for last season's flatline, so maybe I took the wrong path). The new R-99 is nice, but I have 4 battle pass R-99s. I would have paid that much for a buster sword (and would still think of myself as an idiot, but I played T1, T2 and Apex from day one so there is a sentimental factor), but apparently that is worth my electric bill. Without going too deeply in my background I can say I see addictive behavior and a company that is profiteering from it.
I'd buy multiple mythic and heirlooms if they where like $10 or $20 each. I can buy a weapon skin, a character skin and other cosmetics on COD for $20. EA is asking me to spend $300 for a single mythic skin guaranteed or to gamble on packs. They are relying on whales to spend money instead of the average gamer.

EA increasing financial expectations every year, ofc eventially their greed for money gonna exceed how game can "produce", and then managers gonna pressure devs to milk it as much as they can because thats what makes games good. Apex dont really have issues in that regard, its the corporation greed that is an issue.
