*You can test the aux fan by removing the fan switch connector located in the lower radiator hose and closing the connection by using a jumper wire/pin. Pretty much shorting the two pins on the connector. Do this with the car in ignition mode (mode right before you crank the car). I'm just not going to fix my A/C. I bought it from a guy who just filled it and said it was working, but in one week it went it. It actually has a leak. I just roll my windows down and hope it isn't too hot, ha. I live in Northern Illinois and college in Wisconsin, so it isn't too bad.

If it helps someone, back when I worked for a Independent BMW Shop we would find a great many cars with major debris between Radiator and Condenser blocking air flow. Dirt, Leaves, Bugs, Paper Drink Cups, Plastic Bag bits you name it. I will never know how some of that major stuff got in there, but there it was... Yet another thing to check. Some customers where bummed with the little bit of extra labor when we found this but in the end happy because my brother (both ASE and BMW Certified Master Tech) had tallent for getting HVAC Systems to rock!!
If you park under a tree this may be your fix . My AC wasn't blowing anything at all my fans worked my controls all lit up I changed the blower resistor thing I had just did the whole water pump thermostat circus but my thermostat bleeding was not as easy as the video maybe perhaps the leaves all sitting nicely in my blower motor making it not spin. I took the leaves out blower was not spinning , carefully cleaned with WD40 most instantly it came back to life spun freely I did notice a little rusty from the cleaning nothing major put back in same blower motor AND MY CARS A CHILL 62° !!! WOOT WOOT!! Nice video by the way 😂😂😂😂

Nice. Was the air still blowing in the car? My car is not blowing any air out of the vents. I think blower motor. There is a recall on the blower motor wiring. Hopefully the dealer will fix the issue.
@@AnnisAdventures Yes on rare occasions the computer thinks that it is -40° outside so it will dry air from the outside instead of turning on the compressor usually happens on modern BMWs you can easily check by checking the temperature
@@stovy8001 oh ok. My bmw thinks it’s -35 F 24/7 because my sensor is out. But I have some resistor issue with my blower motor so I haven’t actually gotten to test the AC since I got my 1996 328i
When I bought my car my AC was coming on and off and the issue wasn’t the fan itself, but the switch you mentioned. So I guess that’s another thing that can go bad. I replaced it when I overhauled my cooling system

Hi Shoplife Thanks for sharing. The AC in my BMW 320D is blowing hot air from the FRONT vents, and cold air from the REAR vents. Any idea what would be causing the hot air coming out the front? I do know that the system has plenty of AC refrigerant in it, so I assume it's a blockage or mechanical fault. Any thoughts?
Let me see if i heard you right..so what your saying is if the auxiliary fan module assembly stop working the a/c compressor clutch wont kick in..is that what you said???
my high port side fill side was leaking right at port and causing a/c not to charge normally, ended up replacing it and refilling it, car is old so still not super cold air like in new cars.

My fan won't turn on but If I remove the cable from the AC compressor switch fan works. The AC clutch is engaging alright but warm air. Would the AC compressor switch be faulty if it's not allowing fan to turn on?
Changed out my battery, a/c stopped in passenger vent first. Slowly went across the dash until all are now blowing hot. I read about my battery being registered, how do I go about doing that? I bought it at an automotive supply store.
My issue seems a bit more complex. My ac doesn’t work. At times the air coming from the vent feels like its getting cold but doesn’t. I tried adding refrigerant but its not taking it in the system. The compressor engages but still no cold air. The compressor also makes a funny winding sound. Any suggestions?

My F10 fan has a problem. When I turn the largest fan, the fan will run about 20 second and then stop. I need to turn off the fan , wait about 3 minutes and the fan will running again. I already changed the resistor but didn't fix. Do you have any suggestion? Thanks.

hey, what's up bro i been watching your video for about 4 months now and I just recently brought an e46 and one of the big issues i have is that my A/C works sometimes, when it gets extremely hot the A/C does not work at all it blows hot air i put Freon but it still does not work. i even put antifreeze to make sure there was no air in the system and it is still doing the same thing i would really appreciate your feedback on this bro Thanks
Hi Jason, I have a problem when engine gets really hot or it seems like high temperature when I get stuck in traffic in town, the limp mode will come on when I put on Parking on my 2001 e46 320ci petrol automatic. What is a possibility of this faulty is that my Transmission fluid need to be changed or something wrong with my heating system. Thanks a mill.

Hey I'm Hoping someone could help me out. I have a 01 325ci manual with single electric fan. Problem I'm having is a.c. compressor will kick on and off but when it kicks on it releases refrigerant from around compressor. I've read they have high pressure relief valves so I'm guessing that's where it's coming from. My question is what would be the cause of that and/or what to look for. It worked fine last year when i bought it sadly gave up on me beginning of this summer.
My E46 323ci ac is cold then it gets hot then back cold. the fan and compressor kicks on and off when it wants to. sometimes went I play with the temp switch between the vents it comes back to cold sometimes not. Any ideas? relays bad? my system was just recharged. no leaks and good pressures.
Ambient temp sensor especially if it’s flashing -40 it thinks it’s freezing Outside so it’ll cut on an off , I put the two wires together went to +122 for a quick fix (I don’t recommend) then ordered the sensor and wired it back up now it tell my the exact outside temp

Hey there I have a e46 323ci with ac issue, when ac is turned on the vent temp stays the same and I get a hissing sound coming through the vents and can hear the ac gas. If I turn the ac off the hiss stops. I had a gas refill and the compressor clutch engages, belt and tensioner is new also. checked every fuse and relay under bonnet and behind glove box, Heater control valve switches from hot to cold so works. I plugged in a code reader for live data and the a/c switch on dash works and the compressor works. And the ac request fan is 0, When the ac is turned on should the radiator fan spin? It spins when the water temp rises so does not over heat. The revs raise a little so it's a real head scratcher... Any help would be appreciated

Does your switch turn green and work? I don't see how removing the dash would suddenly prevent your ac from turning on. It certainly must be electrical.

#28 fuse In the fuse box n the glove box , it’s a5 amp fuse it keeps blowing 😢what could it be ?
Also when the outside temp sensor reads -44 the ac wont turn on due to a damaged sensor

Check the ihka or hvac panel (buttons that comtrol ac on dash) mine shows that its on however blows warm and cold off and on so replacing soon!

need to add more freon, make sure temperature inside is set to lowest point, check freon gas

Another thing: if your ambient temp sensor is malfunctioning and displays a very cold temperature, the compressor won't start up

Most likely a stuck heater valve, Google e46 heater valve and you can find more info
