      @truckguyjoe Před 4 lety +24

      @I know you are right, And I just got owned but: the lower the rear axle ratio the higher the tow rating. That's why medium duty trucks with the highest GCWR have the lowest available rear axle ratio. If we are talking 3/4 ton gas pickup trucks...consumers who tow want the 4.10 (lower rear axle) not the 3.73. GM should have kept the lower rear axle mated to the 6 speed auto. The icing on the cake would be a 4.10 with the 10-speed auto...or at the bare minimum give GM the 10-speed mated to the 3.73 in lieu of the 6 speed. We are not talking about fuel mileage here. We are talking max towing and max gross combination weight rating. Look at Ford, RAM, or Chevy Medium online order guide and towing application. The lower the rear end...4.30...4.88...the more they are rated to tow and the higher the GCWR. It's all about the launch...getting the load moving and keeping the engine in the torque curve.

    • @kirbygoodwin5760
      @kirbygoodwin5760 Před 4 lety +33

      @Andy Hass If you notice, anytime the engine was over 4,500 RPM it was able to accelerate (not just maintain speed) till it would shift into the next gear (mainly 2nd to 3rd). When it hit 3rd gear it was at 3,600 rpm which is not enough power to hold speed and then it would slow down till it down shifted. Having more gears allows the engine to have more places where it can hit 5,000 RPM and over. The 10-speed would have a gear ratio in between 2nd and 3rd on the 6-speed and allow the truck to rev higher in this gear while going the same speed like over 4,000 rpm at 60 mph not 3,600 rpm in the 6-speed. With a 16,000 lb trailer it’s not just about power, it’s about at what speed (MPH) this power occurs. Exact same reason that a lot of semis have 18 gears. Also, a 10-speed will have a similar top gear ratio as a 6-speed, the 10 does have a wider spread (meaning more lower gears). The 10 speed has 7 gears under overdrive, the 6-speed only has 4.

    After reading the comments I can see I’m not the only one that thinks the front end is hideous.....

    you should do an ike gauntlet with older used trucks. like say 2005-2010 2500s for the people that need to tow but cant afford a brand new truck! as a bonus you can compare new trucks to the older trucks to see how the new ones really perform

    went from a 1500 5.3vortec to a 2500 duramax that was the best move ive done and i only pull a 6000 pound trailer. the 1500 wasnt cutting it. it even was worse when i ended up getting a set of nitto trailer grapplers 33s on it and boy it struggled bad with the 1500 5.3 engine!!

      The 5.3L is a torqueless wonder, even among small block gas V8's its torque has almost always been sub par.

    You will have to walk around one of these trucks to realize how big they actually are. I bought a similar 2020 GMC Sierra and the height of the front of my hood is almost 5' off the ground. I have to use a folding stool in order to check the oil. The oil change tech uses a stool to reach the engine compartment. You need the step built into the rear bumper to climb into the bed.

    A simplel durable truck without things that fail. It looks great and is priced competitive but still high for me. To be honest, I find myself saying my next truck moving from half to three qtr, i'm going to get a work truck - simple, affordable, and gets the job done. They kind of nailed my thoughts with this truck. Only one in my way now is CA DMV yearly charges on big trucks.

    Hello Andre’ and Mr. Truck! I really like the nice clean look from the side and rear, front end? Looks best with the Custom Package with the monochromatic colors. The chrome front end on the LT an up looks a little busy to me. I’ve been a Chevy man for years, never owned a new Ford. But if I was in the market for a HD/SD, I would have a very hard time to pick one from the big three! More than likely a Ford F-250, 4x4, 7.3 V8. With the Tremor Package.
