So funny!! When I moved to VA 29 years ago I was so shocked that the dirt was orange! Must not be the whole state, but all the dirt around us is orange! I’m miss the brown TX dirt!😂

I love this project I have a couple suggestions. Since you have such a skillful helper. you may want to think about building out the landing bottom of the deck to have some storage. There can even storage under the steps. Also, Sam's have a really great package of LED solar motion lights. I think they are around $20 for a set of two.
