This backyard + DIY patio makeover took us about four months and a little under $10K, and I'm so happy that we decided to go the route of DIYing our dream backyard makeover! These type of things is what really makes a house a home. Wonderful job to everyone that helped, it looks like it was such a huge project, but looks absolutely gorgeous

It's gorgeous! The only change I would make is to move the peony bush away from the house. They attract ants big time and being close to your door, you will have ants in your house.

One warning: 2x2s will bend and warp very easily. That's the value of 4x4s -- they are stronger, and hold their plum better. If they seem top heavy, add more gravel to the concrete mix, and use wider pots as your base.

Yeah I don’t feel like they’re really necessary on that side. They’re on the top of the little slope too, but behind the cypress trees.

They were a cast resin I think. We changed them out this year for nice big half barrels!
