- This one took a really long time to get out there, partially because getting the right footage proved a pain and because I was being careful to make sure I got as much of it right as I could. White Mage is one of the most important jobs in the game for serious endgame content so it's crucial it's players know what they're doing and do it to the best of their abilities.
I'm by no means one of the best White Mages out there but I think I've done a decent job in bringing a new player up to speed on what the job entails.
If you have specific questions you can bring them up in the comments section below or ask the good folks on the FFXIAH forum (www.ffxiah.com/forum/topic/44....

Among the next videos to come out is an editorial on CP parties/camps as well as another job guide long overdue.
Might take a few weeks but they're being done!
Ruaumoko please tell me the long overdue guide is Warrior!!!!!! 😬
Thanks! Getting into CP party is hard for WHM.
Hello and tyvm for this guide, would you be willing to go into more detail on chat filters and window 1 / 2 uses having lots of troubles with this as a returning whm who stopped in the 75 era . tyvm~ I'm having quite a bit of trouble messing with mine right now. If you could update the community whm guide with info
"Although it has such powerful healing spells there is no cure for stupidity."
Boy do these words /echo true today...
Anyone remember the 75 cap days when whm/smn was such a massive thing?
a good whm is one no ones talking about
But you always get the tells that they want you in their party in alliance events though. I remember Dyna old days ppl were always hoping leader put me in their pt.
Played whm in my 5 year run on ffxi. Loved it so much because I was always in a group. Also had a minor side business teleporting and raising people 😝😝
I know its been 5 years since you made this but thank you. Leveling vs actually playing content with other people is very different, it helps to see a glimpse of what it looks like.
I recently started a whm mule, this has helped so much and given me motivation to keep gearing it.
My absolute favorite class, thanks for making this video!
Excellent guide.
Please do an updated guide bro, as this job had some major overhaul by 2020.
Didn’t know about Mystic Boons lack of skillchain properties. That is real cool to know. Awesome guide man love some whm lovin’!
Interesting! I was asking for a while why a lot of the FFXIV white mage spells are not named after the usual white magic names. (For example, why "Benediction" instead of "Full Cure" which is the usual name. Or why "Asylum" instead of "Regenga/Regen II"?) Turns out those names all came from FFXI's special white mage abilities.
I don't WHM, but I like watching your videos.
Ah this makes me remember my WHM Days. It was always pretty cool to me that people started looking for me when Forming Parties since i had a modest grasp on the entire Job. Knowing those Sacrosanctity clutch moments and proper Sacrifice application...don't get that out of Modern games.
YOU DID IT.Okay, lemme actually take notes on this one.
Dang! I really thought you were going to do a monk guide next :( Still, awesome video as always
Man I missed healing back in the good days. I dropped it because how much whm is not appreciated. So, I solo most of my way through content on RDM and eventually joining a 2 others to take down the most difficult content back in 2009. We still play from time to time but this game has changed A LOT.
Loved this video.
Mind you, I haven't played in many years at this point, however a quick note on how Devotion used to work (and may still). The amount of MP returned is calculated based on your current HP. This means that it's affected by HP boosting gear. As a lvl 75 Taru whm I used to be able to restore close to 500 MP with one Devotion by simply equipping HP plus gear, curing myself to max and then firing Devotion. You lose a bit of MP via the HP swap and curing yourself but the way I saw it was that it was far easier for me to get MP back than say my rdm or pld (my usual targets).
And after this one pld I worked with quite often crapped his pants the first time I did this we came up with one of his favorite combo moves. I'd convert to my HP setup, he'd Cure IV me and then I'd refund his MP with Devotion. Allows the tank to help cement hate at very little cost to anyone. Do this with a full charge of Sublimation to fire off right after switching back to your normal gear set and the lost MP on your part is minimal.
Conserve MP+ and Haste+ (Fast Cast+ wasn't available as much when I played but I used that instead where I could) gear were also good to macro in for spells like Raise, Haste, Erase, Regen & -na spells which don't (didn't?) really have any other modifiers (and where better stuff that directly affected them isn't available).
Maybe it's not such a big issue nowadays but I'm kinda surprised you didn't mention anything about a resting set for regaining MP.
RoninXDarknight things have changed significantly. I cure 3 at 600 and I wear pants that return mp based on amount cured. A good set up does not require resting. The speed of play has also increased.
I only use stpc. You can press up or down on controller or keyboard to stay in party
Sup rua, love the videos. I noticed towards the beginning that your tanks name and buffs showed up bottom left. Plugin name? Also like the UI
It's a feature of the game, there is no plugin or third party software involved.
Ruau, can you post your lua for WHM. I want to compare it to mine and see where I can make adjustments. If you post a link in your video comment or a reply link that would be great.
Rua how do you have your macro setup since with cure pot and mind + for cure and curaga with queller rods and yagrush for NA etc and when you DD for full cure
"Although it has such powerful healing spells there is no cure for stupidity."
That remembers me Dalton, from One Piece haha
*reminds me of
Now that protectra 5 and shellra 5 is no longer merited spells, how has the merit set up in group 2 changed?
What's the whm stat priority chr, int, mnd,
Hello! Can I ask what addon your chat log is showcasing at 16:30 I'd really like that info on my white mage. Thank you.
David the light coloured text is an /echo input on the macro line.
The key filters to configure on WHM are so you can see damage dealt by you (shows cure amount), effects started/on by you (shows ailments and magic effects) and effects on/by party members
@@SplitFinn • Just noticed Battlemod automatically does all of the above for you. At 1st I was like did I break something? Then I remembered I was on WHM and yeah. Genius
Probably a great advanced video guide. How do you become a White Mage? Just thought if this is a guide, I would think this might be covered...but as most of these guides, everyone thinks everyone has been playing FFXIV for 7 years and need no basic information.
I know this is late but this isn't 14, this is 11
I LOVE the pressure this job brings to the table! It's so much more rewarding, for me at least, as compared to other jobs after a tough battle. Also, having the idea that everyone is at my mercy as far as who gets healed or not is sooo, ohhh soo satisfying. I jest but the first statement is true! Treat your WHMs with respect boys and girls! lol
How would you macro in your fast cast Gear and Cure cast time in ffxi windower?
Hella late reply for you, but for any future people you want fast cast and cure reduction in your precast sets. You only sit in precast for a second before gearswap puts you into the midcast set where you want cure potency, enmity down, etc
Started as a whm in 2002. Came back in 2018 as a whm. Has complete Eber gear....On back burner cause I need yagrush....sigh, mythic.....And I just finished Twashtar for my thf......
one thing u didnt go into is having multiple idle sets i use 3 of them refresh set 2 get alot of mp when not in harms way a dt set forbeing nearby enemy for reapplying spells if needed and a meva set incase it decides to throw a spell your way such a silence or petrification as said a ko or stoned healer is a useless healer
Do PLD! :D
commenting for warrior guide : p
Mystic boon dmg good on mythic vs black halo?
Also what is a good DD set for whm now Im thinking about trying it out wiht r15 mythic but I feel like ambu may be the strongest wiht black halo
Why is the frame rate so poor? Maybe try some different software, or reduce your recording resolution.
J Albo could be many things but honestly this laptop isn’t top of the range so it’s probably a hardware issue
And this is why i don't play support jobs
Pretty sure Whm is not Mnk. :P
He said MNK was after the one job guide he was already working on, so patience fellow Monk, we'll get it.
Jason Mattishh it’s next
I can understand an under equipped tank, but a retarded dps that keeps pulling threat is easy to deal with. 1st time they pull threat it's a mistake, 2nd time they pull threat you let them get low, 3rd time you make them walk back to their corpase.
Ofc macro your 2hr...😂
